In a groundbreaking step toward redefining its audio experience, LG officially launched its highly anticipated LG “xboom by will.i.am” audio lineup in the United States on April 14. To celebrate the occasion, LG welcomed multi-platinum artist, tech innovator, and Founder and CEO of FYI.AI, will.i.am to its North American headquarters for the first time. The visit marked not just a product debut, but the beginning of a new era for LG’s xboom brand, one infused with artistic vision and cutting-edge sound crafted in collaboration with will.i.am himself. will.i.am ascended the iconic “Life’s Good” stairs at the North American Headquarters and began his day meeting with Jung Kyu-hwang, CEO of LG Electronics North America, to discuss their shared enthusiasm for the partnership and the future of the xboom brand. will.i.am signed 50 exclusive posters featuring him alongside the LG xboom Grab, one of the standout speakers in the new lineup. He also took time to sign branded notecards for LG employees and special guests, adding a thoughtful touch to the day. The LG audio team surprised him in return with a swag bag filled with every product in the new xboom lineup, complete with a custom “xboom by will.i.am” luggage tag – a small nod to the collaboration’s unique fusion of tech and style. The special day, consisting of media, marketing and employee engagement activities, kicked off with a private Q&A session followed by in-depth demos, attended by media and influencers, and hosted by Aaron Westbrook, LG’s head of Audio Marketing. The two discussed how the LG “xboom by will.i.am” partnership came about, what fuels and inspires his creativity, and where his passion for artificial intelligence and technology originated. will.i.am also demoed RAiDiO.FYI on his LG xboom Grab speaker, opening up a conversation between himself and an AI persona named Fyin. The hands-on demo session generated many “wow” moments. Phones were out and cameras rolled as the xboom speakers endured a series of durability tests, including being buried in sand and submerged in water, showing impressive results. Jack Kiledjian and Scott Cohen from LG’s Customer Value Enablement team also ran blind sound tests against competitor products, allowing attendees to compare and hear the superior performance of the LG “xboom by will.i.am” speakers without bias. In a surprise appearance at the LG cafeteria, will.i.am stepped in as emcee for an “xboom by will.i.am” product raffle. Winners took home a variety of items from the new audio lineup, along with signed will.i.am posters, turning an ordinary lunch into an unforgettable moment. Keeping the energy going, will.i.am headed to LG’s state-of-the-art Virtual Studio to film an unboxing video alongside Speedy Morman, well-known influencer and host of “360 with Speedy.” The video blended entertainment, tech, and content creation into a fun and engaging showcase of the entire new LG xboom lineup. To cap off the eventful day, LG and will.i.am hosted a private meet-and-greet with randomly selected employees. Each winner received a professional photo with will.i.am and a signed commemorative poster. Employees were encouraged to share their snapshots on social media to spread the excitement and amplify the launch buzz beyond the LG campus. This special day was a celebration of collaboration, creativity and community. Through his visit, will.i.am helped foster a deeper connection between the media, influencers, LG U.S. employees and the new xboom lineup, giving them a front-row seat to the innovation behind the brand’s new sound identity. # # # View the full article

Company Achieves Record-Breaking First-Quarter Revenue Driven by Balanced Growth in Home Appliance and B2B Sectors SEOUL, April 24, 2025 — LG Electronics Inc. (LG) today announced consolidated revenue of KRW 22.74 trillion and operating profit of KRW 1.26 trillion for the first quarter of 2025. This marks the highest first-quarter revenue in the company’s history and the sixth consecutive year in which operating profit surpassed KRW 1 trillion during the first quarter. Strong performance was driven by qualitative growth across key business areas, especially in B2B, non-hardware segments (such as subscriptions and webOS platform) and direct-to-consumer (D2C) sales. Vehicle solutions and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) – both critical to LG’s B2B strategy and future growth – delivered record-breaking quarterly revenue and operating profit. Combined operating profit from the Vehicle Solution Company and Eco Solution Company increased 37.2 percent year-over-year, with revenue climbing 12.3 percent. The Home Appliance Solution Company, LG’s flagship business and primary profit generator, also recorded its highest-ever quarterly revenue while maintaining global market leadership. The business is rapidly transforming through innovative models such as subscription services and D2C sales. Meanwhile, the media and entertainment segment demonstrated solid performance, led by continued growth in LG’s webOS-based advertising and content platform. The LG Home Appliance Solution Company reported first-quarter revenue of KRW 6.70 trillion and operating profit of KRW 644.6 billion. Compared to the same period last year, revenue increased by 9.3 percent, setting a new record, and operating profit grew by 9.9 percent. The Company continues to maintain its market leadership while accelerating the growth of its subscription and D2C sales. Looking to the second quarter, the Company anticipates increased uncertainty due to shifting global trade policies and increasing market competition. To address these challenges, the Company will expand its portfolio of new and volume-zone products, while deepening its focus on subscription and online businesses. Additional priorities include focusing on opportunities in B2B such as built-in appliances and external sales of key components like motors and compressors. Profitability efforts will center on enhancing cost competitiveness through optimizing operational efficiency. The LG Media Entertainment Solution Company posted first-quarter revenue of KRW 4.95 trillion and operating profit of KRW 4.9 billion. While TV demand remained soft, growth in webOS-based advertising and content services made a greater contribution to performance. Revenue remained in line with the previous year, though profitability was impacted by rising LCD panel prices and higher marketing spend. In the second quarter, the Company will seek to create synergies across its display-focused businesses, including TVs, commercial displays, and IT products such as laptops and monitors. While the market recovers slowly, the Company will emphasize profitability, particularly through premium products. The expanding webOS-based platform will aim to increase geographic reach and product base while advancing strategic partnerships with content providers to maintain its growth trajectory. The LG Vehicle Solution Company recorded its highest-ever quarterly revenue and operating profit, with revenue of KRW 2.84 trillion and operating profit of KRW 125.1 billion. Growth continues to be powered by a robust order backlog totaling KRW 100 trillion. Notably, profitability improved in the in-vehicle infotainment business, where premium product share is steadily increasing. In the second quarter, the Company aims to sustain revenue growth and solidify a stable profit structure by expanding high-value product sales, optimizing operations in the EV component business, and enhancing resource efficiency. The LG Eco Solution Company also achieved record-high quarterly revenue and operating profit. First-quarter revenue reached KRW 3.05 trillion, with operating profit of KRW 406.7 billion, resulting in a strong operating margin of 13.3 percent. Year-over-year, revenue rose 18.0 percent and operating profit grew 21.2 percent. Since the beginning of 2025, LG has operated its HVAC business as an independent division, with noticeable performance gains driven by efficient resource allocation and a B2B-focused organizational structure. Alongside the Vehicle Solution Company, the Eco Solution Company serves as a core engine of LG’s B2B growth. In the second quarter, the Company will seek to expand sales of new residential HVAC products and secure commercial air conditioning contracts in emerging markets. It also plans to target large-scale industrial and power-generation projects – including AI data centers – by leveraging its ultra-large chiller solutions. # # # View the full article

I have a 42 inch LG OLED evo AI C4 4K Smart TV 2024 with a USE6S soundbar connected via HDMI. Up until a few days ago, the iPhone app was connected via WiFi. I could use it to control the sound effect. The sound bar remote could also change the sound effect, and the volume with the volume control visible on the TV screen. Now the iPhone app does not connect to the soundbar and the remote control doesn't appear to alter the volums: there's no on screen display. And also, the TV WOWcast output is not 'sticky': that it to say I can select it, and it remains for a time, but drops.

I have a 32LQ63 model and had always thought that I should be able to watch catch-up tv from the previous 7 days direct from the epg. However, I cannot for the life of me get that to work. Whatever I do, whenever I am in the epg I can only get it to move forwards rather than back. I can watch catch-up tv from Freeview Channel 100, but I would like to be able to do so from the epg. What am I missing?

Philippe Thomas replied to Nick Payne's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
Hello Nick, I don't have a solution for you right away. however from my experience, when you have something like that happening to an electronic device (starting or shuting down by itself), I think you have to look around for another device (may be a new device in the room or in the house) that can send waves to your TV. For instance, is this happening regularly (every 3 days at 10 PM for example) ? Is there any new electronic device in the room that could potentially affect the TV ? Also, I don't think the cause is something coming from the TV software because generally you receive a message (saying : are you still loooking at the TV ? ) and you didn't mention any message. I am sure that like me, you have a ton of electronic device around in the house, like routers, cameras, amplifier, computers, tablets, phones ... - Earlier

Driven by the rapid advancement of AI technologies, the data center construction market is expected to grow continuously over the next decade and possibly beyond.* AI data centers, with their intensive usage of high-powered chips, place greater demands on electricity and water resources and produce more heat than conventional data centers. For these reasons, energy-efficient thermal management solutions have emerged as critical infrastructure components for AI data centers – essential for keeping their servers at the optimal temperature and for minimizing their environmental impacts. Conventional data centers typically utilize cooling towers to control internal temperatures. However, this method consumes large amounts of water – an increasingly critical concern given the growing threat of global water scarcity. A report from the World Resources Institute highlights that 25 countries currently experience extreme water stress each year, a number projected to double to 51 by 2050, impacting approximately 31 percent of the global population. In response, AI data center operators are turning to more sustainable, water-efficient cooling solutions. Technologies such as air-cooled chillers (ACC) and direct-to-chip (D2C) cooling solutions are gaining traction as smart alternatives that minimize water usage without sacrificing performance. At the 2025 Data Center World expo in Washington, D.C., LG showcased its latest lineup of sustainable cooling solutions. Leveraging its deep expertise in HVAC technology, LG is helping to shape a greener future for the data center industry. An integral part of LG’s comprehensive suite of data center solutions is the ACC, which employs high-efficiency core components and low Global Warming Potential refrigerants to deliver a remarkable performance with fewer emissions and lower energy consumption. Available in both inverter screw and oil-free centrifugal types, the innovative ACC offers enhanced cooling capability with its “free-cooling” system that leverages a pumped refrigerant economizer to cut down on energy and water use. LG has also introduced highly efficient D2C cooling solutions, such as its Cold Plate. When combined with an ACC, this solution is capable of implementing targeted heat removal to help reduce water usage. The system attaches directly to server chips, using a liquid coolant to absorb the heat and channel it through a closed-loop system managed by the Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU). The CDU features AI virtual sensors for full redundancy and boasts a compact, modular design for easy maintenance and installation. To create the next generation of data center cooling solutions, LG opened a dedicated AIDC testing facility earlier this year at its LG AI Data Center HVAC Solution Lab. The lab is capable of conducting real-world simulations of data center environments, helping LG fine-tune its systems to meet evolving customer and environmental demands. Through its ongoing research and innovation, LG is reinforcing its position as a global leader in sustainable data center cooling. By delivering solutions that cut energy use, reduce water consumption and maximize performance, LG is committed to supporting both the future of AI and the health of our planet. # # # * According to Precedence Research, the size of the global data center construction market is estimated at USD 258.56 billion in 2025 and is forecasted to reach around USD 491.99 billion by 2034, accelerating at a CAGR of 7.41 percent from 2025 to 2034. ITVx, C4 & C5 apps missing on G5 series
jak22 replied to thewookiewon's question in LG webOS Smart TV App Questions
I'm afraid it looks like LG have dropped support for Freeview Play this year which means catchup apps like ITVx, 4OD or Channel 5 arent available. This isnt made clear on product pages and not covered well in reviews given how important it is. They've also dropped DTS support this year too. Other brands have adopted Freely to provide catchup and live TV into the future but not LG. Something similar happened to 2020 CX models and it was many months before some of those apps were made available then. Assuming this also affects C5 and B5 this will become more and more talked about until we're able to get LG to sort it out. -

Company Showcases Anti-fungal and Antibacterial Glass Powder to Global B2B Customers SEOUL, April 17, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) is accelerating the global expansion of its advanced materials business with LG PuroTecTM, an antimicrobial glass powder designed for diverse B2B applications. The company is targeting global markets – including across Asia – with this innovative material that offers antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. At Chinaplas 2025, being held in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, LG showcased its lineup of PuroTec to the international B2B market. Recognized as one of the world’s leading industrial materials exhibitions, Chinaplas 2025 has brought together over 4,000 companies from around 150 countries to introduce cutting-edge materials across industries such as plastics and rubber. At the event, LG highlighted the wide applicability of PuroTec to B2B customers, and also introduced diverse use cases in home appliances, construction materials, medical devices and textiles that PuroTec can be applied to. PuroTec can be blended into materials like plastic, paint and rubber to provide antibacterial and anti-fungal effects that can help prevent odors, contamination and discoloration caused by microorganisms. Even in small quantities, it maintains excellent efficacy and mixes easily with various base materials, enhancing its value across manufacturing sectors. Building on its long-standing expertise in glass powder technology – originally developed for use in its home appliances – LG is positioning PuroTec as a new pillar of its B2B materials strategy. Since introducing the product in 2023, LG has expanded its presence in Asian markets such as China, Vietnam and India, while securing approximately 420 related patents since 2006. As part of its global expansion strategy, LG plans to introduce PuroTec in Europe and North America, with a major showcase planned at K 2025 in Düsseldorf, Germany, this October. In addition to PuroTec, LG continues to invest in the development of advanced materials. A notable example is Marine Glass, a functional, water-soluble glass material designed to help support marine ecosystem restoration.

Company Showcases Wide Range of Customized Cooling Solutions for AI Data Centers SEOUL, April 15, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) is unveiling a comprehensive lineup of cooling solutions at the Data Center World (DCW) 2025 conference in Washington, D.C., from April 14-17. This marks LG’s debut at DCW, where the company is presenting an array of advanced data center cooling solutions, including high-performance chillers, air- and liquid-based server cooling products, and the LG Building Energy Control (BECON) solution. With its high-efficiency direct-to-chip (D2C) cooling technologies and integrated AI-powered control software, LG aims to make significant inroads into North America’s rapidly growing data center market. AI data centers generate more heat and consume more electricity than conventional data centers due to higher server-rack density and the increased usage of resource-intensive computer chips, such as graphics processing units and high-bandwidth memory. LG’s hybrid solution, which combines chip cooling and room cooling, is designed to meet the thermal management needs of these next-gen facilities, delivering outstanding performance and top-tier energy efficiency. Visitors to the LG booth at DCW can learn all about the company’s tailored cooling solutions for AI data centers and witness the commitment to innovation that has propelled LG to the forefront of the global HVAC industry. Innovative, Energy-efficient D2C Technology LG’s exhibition highlights the company’s liquid server cooling solutions featuring D2C technology; a remarkable innovation that applies cooling directly to the servers’ chips. Leveraging the company’s high-efficiency inverter pump and heat exchanger, the LG Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) controls coolant temperature and flow to improve energy efficiency and reduce electricity consumption. Thanks to its compact size and modular design, LG’s CDU provides installation flexibility, enabling a variety of configurations consisting of up to eight units. The CDU has a 10.4-inch touch screen that offers convenient control and supports easy maintenance. Equipped with the company’s fully redundant sensor system, which features both physical and virtual sensor technology, the CDU ensures continuous operation through the provision of backup operation and sensor-fault prediction diagnosis. Furthermore, the CDU uses LG’s Active Load Sharing technology to track the optimal efficiency point for each load, thus elevating overall system efficiency. Another LG innovation being introduced at this year’s DCW is the Cold Plate: a liquid cooling solution designed to be directly applied to the high-powered chips used in AI data servers. The solution is able to manage the high thermal design power (TDP) of these next-generation chips thanks to the low thermal resistance of its advanced design. The LG Cold Plate utilizes a manifold with a parallel coolant supply structure to deliver upgraded cooling performance. The company’s impressive solution also employs a bottom-mounted Skived Fin to maximize the heat exchange area and boasts a “two-way” configuration that optimizes the coolant flow path. Moreover, the Cold Plate can be customized according to site- and usage-specific requirements through an AI-powered optimization process that includes a state-of-the-art performance simulator. To minimize the risk of coolant-liquid leakage, LG uses brazing to create the strongest possible bond between key elements, and also subjects each Cold Plate produced to a “threefold” leak inspection. Optimized Cooling with LG’s Powerful Chillers and Computer Room Air Handler Used in a variety of industries and known for their powerful cooling capabilities, chillers have emerged as important infrastructure components for AI data centers. LG’s Water-Cooled Oil-Free Centrifugal Chiller provides exceptional energy efficiency via a lubricant-free structure and LG’s proprietary magnetic bearing technology, LeviTech. These innovations, along with a machine learning-based feature that protects against chiller surges, help to reduce energy loss, improve operational reliability, and facilitate fast recovery from unexpected power outages. Designed with sustainability in mind, LG’s water-cooled oil free inverter centrifugal chiller use refrigerants with a low Global Warming Potential. Available in both inverter screw and oil-free centrifugal types, LG’s Air-Cooled Chiller (ACC) incorporates high-quality core components, such as the company’s inverter screw compressor, to set new standards for performance and efficiency. Enhancing both cooling capability and system dependability, the innovative “free-cooling” mode allows the ACC to switch seamlessly between mechanical cooling (with the refrigerant cycle) and free cooling (without the refrigerant cycle). LG’s next-gen ACC also has a backup cycle that prevents interruptions to operation, and comes equipped with a three-stage oil recovery system that further boosts reliability and safety. A solution that pairs perfectly with the ACC, LG’s Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) utilizes electronically commutated (EC) fans and oval coils to minimize electricity usage. The fans use high-efficiency 3D blades along with EC motors that leverage power factor correction to reduce total harmonic distortion in the current. In addition, the CRAH has a compact, modular fan wall unit structure that makes installation and maintenance more convenient, saving customers time and cost. To drive the development of future cooling solutions, the recently established LG HVAC Solution Lab has created a sophisticated testbed that can accurately simulate various usage scenarios and environmental conditions. Integrated Energy Management Control for Diverse Cooling Solutions LG’s data center cooling solutions, from chiller plants to D2C and room cooling systems, can all be easily controlled through the BECON system. A single, unified solution for managing and monitoring server cooling and chiller systems, BECON can intelligently coordinate each connected cooling solution to achieve and maintain the required temperature and level of humidity. The BECON solution, which can be applied to multiple interfaces within a facility, can also carry out data analysis to maximize the energy efficiency of LG’s cooling solutions, helping reduce the financial burden of the round-the-clock cooling operation that data centers need. “The exceptional LG thermal management solutions on show at Data Center World 2025 leverage our latest AI technologies and the considerable insight gained from our partnerships with AI data centers worldwide,” said James Lee, president of the LG ES Company. “As a leading provider of innovative HVAC solutions, LG will continue pushing forward to deliver efficient cooling infrastructure for North America’s fast-growing AI data center market.” LG invites DCW attendees to experience its latest AI data center cooling solutions at booth #633 in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. # # # View the full article

Problem: Auto switch to HDMI input in LG TVs
Venkata posted a question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
Hello Team, My newly purchased 75-Inch Class QNED 4K LED QNED85T series TV with webOS 24 has a setup box and soundbar connected via HDMI. It automatically returns to HDMI input when I move between home and any app (like YouTube, Prime, etc.). It appears to automatically detect and switch to the HDMI input always. The soundbar attached to the HDMI was disconnected if I turned off Simplink (HDMI-CEC). There doesn't seem to be a way to disable auto sensing option. It appears that LG TVs lack a function or problem. I have a Hisense TV with the same setup, and it functions perfectly. I have no trouble switching between apps and controlling devices connected via HDMI.
