  5. I noticed since the last update of WebOS, it defaults to a screen with apps along the bottom rather than HDMI1 as before on startup. Even after going into the input settings and selecting HDMI1, it stills defaults to the other screen on startup. When selecting HDMI1 on the inputs screen, it has a red dot in the corner, which I would assumes means that's the selected default. But again, this seems to be ignored this on startup. Thanks.

  6. I called Amazon CS and they said it is a known problem and has to do with a bug in the latest release of the app. "They are working on it". I don't now why they don't re-release the old version until they get their act together

  7. Hi. What can I do to get my TV to use the full broadband speed that I've got available. My tv is a 55EC930V and is using a wired connection to my router. My broadband is currently running at 125Mbps. When I use any other devices such as a laptop, mobile phone, etc the speed using fast.com returns anything between 120 to 130 MBps. But, when I use the web browser on the TV, it always maxes out at 33Mbps. This value is reported by fast.com. If I use the speed test in the Netflix app, this returns approx 29Mbps. I never get anything higher, so what's limiting it? The same problem occurs for YouTube and that's the only other App that I've got installed. If the network board in the TV is supposed to be 10-100Mbps, why don't I get 100 Mbps? I know I won't get 125Mbps because LG never puts 1Gbps in any of it's TVs.

  9. I'd like a fast accessible shortcut to turn off the screen, eg. when pressing settings, a button on the screen. Or even better, the possibility to configure the speaker off button on the remote to turn off the screen instead. It should work independently of the energy saving feature, so that energy saving is not set to off when the screen is turned on again. The existing procedure to turn off screen is to complex press settings, press all settings, press energy saving, press off..... and when the screen is turned on again, the energy saving is set to off, and not to the previous value (eg. auto). 10. If you use the voice function on the remote and say "screen off" it will also turn off the screen, this seems to be the most efficient way of doing it I've found so far. There needs to be a shortcut button on the remote!

  11. As promised: After uninstalling LG SmartShare and installing Serviio (free version), and running it for 5+ days now - no problems. Looks like I found my new Windows / LG MediaServer. And the fact that it runs as a service automatically, actually makes it easier.

  13. Hello pingber, I am a LG user like you. You have a C1 and I have a C3. Netherless, the home screen should look like the attached picture of my home screen (sorry it is in french). The last row contains input and some documentations in my case. If this is also your case, then for this last (bottom) row you cannot change it. Witht the lastest WebOS version, you cannot remove the different rows. Unfortunately, WebOS is quite rigide : and you cannot really customize and simplify the home screen. Phil. IMG_4066.HEIC

  18. Hi webos_24, I have the same issue and I came to the same conclusion. You cannot delete a lot of things in the home screen. The only way to solve that problem is to get rid of webOS ... I used a connected xiaomi MI BOX S and I connect automatically to it at startup (and also use HDMI CEC so that I can use the MI BOX remote to control startup and shutdwon of both MI BOX and LG TV at the sametime). It is working really great. For elder people, I also use a FLauncher application in the android MI BOX that presents a nice clear and simple menu to launch the list of streaming applictaions. btw, i don't use any cable or live TV ... Hope this could help. NB: it is a pity that this webOS is not an open software ...

  20. Thank you, fokrones!! Finally someone with a more or less actionable solution. I can confirm the subtitles functionality working across all devices (incl. LG OLED). MaxPlayer is not free though (€1,50 per month for 5 devices), which I am happy to pay. Thanks again! UPDATE: after 2 months of use I can report the following about maxplayer.tv: 1) the display of subtitles sometimes differs depending on the device. One example: on LG TV only English whereas Multi Sub on iPad. 2) there are some bugs: for some episodes of GoT there were no English subs to choose from on LG TV. On iPad no problem. 3) the quality of the picture seems to be better on maxplayer.tv compared to Smarters iPTV but maxplayer.tv had more buffering issues than Smarters. To sum up, not very happy at the moment. Hoping to find better alternatives with working subtitles across ALL devices and no buffering issues. Any suggestions??

  21. Fab, You are welcome. Thank you for providing more info. I know nothing of the Harmony Hub. If it works for you, then good. I might remind you that ALL these devices are now computers. It is kind of amazing that they "play nice" with each other as it is. And, firmware seems to "upgrade" without warning. Interfaces can change over night. Regarding the Onkyo - refer to page 115 of your owner's manual at the upper left: 5. Hardware 1. HDMI Change the settings of the HDMI function. HDMI CEC (Default Value: On) Setting this to "On" enables the input selection link and other link functions with HDMI-connected CEC-compatible device. When this setting is changed, turn off and then on again the power of all connected devices. • Depending on the TV to use, a link setting may be required on the TV. • This function is effective only when the device is connected to the HDMI OUT MAIN jack. • Setting this to "On" and closing the operation screen will display the name of the connected CEC-compatible device and "CEC On" on the main unit’s display. • When this function is set to "On", the power consumption in standby state increases, however, the increase in power consumption is minimized by automatically entering the HYBRID STANDBY mode where only the essential circuits operate. • If you operate the MASTER VOLUME dial on the main unit when this setting is "On" and audio is output from the TV speakers, audio will be output also from the speakers connected to this unit. To output audio from only either of them, change the setting of this unit or TV, or reduce the volume of this unit. • If abnormal behavior is observed when this is set to "On", set it to "Off". • If a connected device is not CEC-compatible, or if you are not sure whether it is compatible, set it to "Off". On When this function is used Off When this function is not used. Check to see if your setting is in default/ON. If it is, turn it off and see if that helps. Regarding the LG C2, I noticed the same issue, having set-up all the apps on the LG without need of AppleTV, a Firestick, etc. The default seemed to go to the screen you describe "home dashboard". However, since my client had a couple of devices she used from time to time, she doesn't mind hitting the "home" button of the LG Magic Remote to see her apps at the bottom. It is slightly disorienting at first, but I think your wife can adjust pretty readily. On my system, with a C1, like I said, I run all devices through the Denon receiver. Thus, when I turn on the LG, it immediately shows whatever device that is selected on my Denon, which is usually AppleTV. So, I see the beautiful Apple 4K scenic screen savors for my opening screen. The bottom line is: do not expect perfection from any device. Design your system (with all app preferences and hardware) set to your utmost liking as possible. Then, orient yourself (and your wife) to that paradigm and be happy with what an awesome AV system you own. Enjoy the heck out of it. And, be prepared for changes and shifts within the firmware and app updates. Some may be great, some, not so great. Life is complicated and so are AV systems. The better the system, the more complex, the more attention is needed by the consumer. Expecting to set it up and forget it won't cut it anymore. I doubt you want to go back to the era in which I grew-up: a TV with an on-off button, a dial that found 3 channels, if the antenna on the roof was positioned correctly. It was simple and required no further action once the antenna was set. But, I don't want to return to that era. Do you? I hope you truly take the time to really enjoy your "fabulous" home entertainment system You did good! Mr. Black p.s. both of my subwoofers have been on for over 3-and-a-half years without interruption.

  22. If you already have image retention or OLED burn-in, there's nothing you can do to remove it. As prevention, you can run the pixel refresher periodically, make sure screen shift is on and keep the logo luminance setting to low. But if you already have image retention then you should contact LG Customer Service and seek a solution for a replacement TV through them. Their email is [email protected]. Years ago, I had a LG OLED 55E6P TV and the CNN logo started to burn in. They were great about it and offered me a pro-rated discount towards a replacement TV. Give it a try.

  23. No answer here. My Google search ked to many other not productive answers & now I'm here. I just to vent with you. I want Paramount + on my TV!!! Apparently I need webOS 4.0 or higher. My TV has 3.9 and when I try to "update software," it tells me "no update available." Watching TV on my phone is not cool 🤨

  24. They told me the same... But the problem seems to be software only. I assumed that the latest software version has some problems. Unfortunately, there is no downgrade procedure, so you can't do much more. Even overwriting the new version is impossible! Can you please keep me updated on the cost estimate from ESD Rom? We can also discuss in private, if you agree.

  25. The Gallery application is nice but it does not compare with the Samsung Frame offering and that's too bad because LG could through software be quite competitive. One place to start would be to look at the Art Legacy+ and associated applications available from a small company called Landka. I've displayed from an iPad their 100+ classic images. Each image is panned slightly during display so there is no danger of burn in. Images can persist for up to 60 seconds (would rather see up to 10 minutes). The cost is minimal. LG could look into licensing this app or doing something similar. The app itself could also use a couple of improvements: 1) an optional virtual frame such as is offered by Samsung Frame and 2) changing the background color of the TV where the image does not display (for example a vertically-oriented piece of art) to be much more like a matte around a photo. I'm running Legacy+ on my LGTV daily. It really improves the room and adds a lot of value to the TV.

  26. You may not need anything extra. When I press the Input button on the remote for my LG 50UK6090PUA - in addition to the expected HDMI1, HDMI2, etc. there is also my server listed. I pick that and navigate to the video I want. There are plenty of reasons that my case may be different from yours. I am using a WD MyCloud that is running its stock DLNA server and my files are mkv files instead of mp4. Still, it is worth a try and costs nothing in dollars or time.

  27. I am trying to setup my new Phonak my hearing aids TV Connector with my new LG GP2 TV and Sonos Arc sound bar, connected by via the HDMI eArc port. The TV automatically uses the the HDMI eArc port, and that port only. As a result no signal goes through the optical out port of the LG TV. Is there a way to make the LG TV sound signal simultaneously go out to both the sonud bar via eArc port and to the Phak TV Connector via the optical out port so that I can connect hearing aids to the Phonak TV connector and also use the Sonos Arc soundbar at the same time? Appreciate any guidance. Thanks, M55

  30. I have got from a friend the code for his OLED42C21LA: I have tried to update the code on my one, but I cannot select it for modification (on my C1 I can). I have FW 03.30.16. Is that common to C2? If somebody can test, it would be helpful. Any idea I can enable SM/ToolOPT6_Energy/country for modification?

  31. I have two LG C2 tv's both running OS 03.21.30. Attempts to update the OS state that this is the current version as of 12/2022. Amazon Music won't open on either of them, the splash screen appears and that's it, for hours. It opens fine on other devices in the house, Sony TV, PC's, and droid phones. Other streaming apps work fine with no buffering or glitches. The solutions offered online list instructions for clearing app caches using a series of menus that aren't even remotely close to the menus available on these TV's. I've checked every available menu and there's absolutely nothing offering the ability to clear app caches. App Manager offers exactly two options: Launch or Delete. Others insist that you need to clear the cache from within the app but of course the app won't open so that's a dead end. I did clear the browser cache but it had no effect this AMZN Music problem. So far I've also: Deleted and re-installed the app multiple times; Left the TV's unplugged 24+ hours; Full reboot of the router multiple times; Factory Reset of the TV's. If anyone has a solution that doesn't involve buying a fire stick I'm very interested - thanks (edit) one of these tv's is five feet from the router. Distance isn't the issue.

  32. Wow. There's a lot here. Let me try and help you - but remember I'm just an LG customer like you - I work in the tech industry, but I'm not LG or ITV so I can only tell you what I know as a customer. The info I have comes from the @ITVxHelp Twitter feed. They reply very quickly if you wanted to try talking to them, but I warn you, they don't know a lot either! First - the good news - ITVx has started to roll out to LG TVs. I got my update this morning. The bad news is that it isn't working properly! I've reported it to them and we'll see what happens. In terms of the wider point - "Smart" simply means it has an internet connection and can run apps. What apps are available has nothing to do with LG - they offer their platform (WebOS) to developers, but what actually gets offered on this, or any TV is entirely up to them. Browse through this forum and you'll find lots of "where is this" and "why is this" posts. The bottom line is that ITVx is available to devices that support it - that doesn't mean they have to make it available to every TV and every device, and it doesn't mean that they have to get it to all platforms on time - there are a lot of other devices that either don't have ITVx yet, won't ever get it, or have it and it''s not working properly - it has been an undeniably shoddy roll out. The reality is that no TV or smart device has every app - and there's nothing you can do about that. Some are better than others and unfortunately, many developers don't offer LG apps, or make them last of all. LG is far from the best - but it's also not the worse - a lot of cheaper TVs don't have Disney+, for example, and that's been out for two years. Humax doesn't offer Netflix on its flagship set top box. That's just how it is, and there's no one TV or device that will get everything. As more and more streaming services come online this is only going to get worse. The thing about VPNs, specifically, is that they offer you a chance to watch stuff that shouldn't be officially available to you. Broadcasters and streaming services pay huge amounts of money for the rights to programmes, country by country, and therefore watching them from another country is a legal grey area. It would be lovely if LG offered VPN support, but VPNs are not a right either - in fact they're actually banned in many countries altogether. (For the record, I use a second router with a VPN built in and point my devices at that). The key thing to remember is that you don't have the right to anything - it's only false advertising if they specifically say "we offer this specific service or feature, on this model of TV" and then don't. The truth is that Smart TVs will never be as flexible as standalone devices like streaming sticks and computers. There are better options than LG for the sort of thing you want to do - especially as LG generally stop updating firmware after a couple of years - but just because something exists, it doesn't mean you'll get it and that's true of all devices, not just LG - and it's only going to get worse. I find it bonkers that we can't get Paramount+ on our TVs yet - but that's up to Paramount, not LG. I'm sorry if you feel you're stuck with a TV that doesn't meet your needs - look at other posts, you're very much not alone, it's the reason most people are here - but we live in an age where the TV landscape is changing all the time. Really, for the flexibility you want, you'd be better off with a separate device (FYI not a Roku - they don't support VPNs either!). I know that's not what you want to hear, but that's where we are and I don't think, from what you say, you'd be entirely happy with a Samsung, Sony or HiSense TV either - they all have their drawbacks and missing services. I hope I've been of some help explaining. I regret buying LG too, but I can''t afford to rush out and buy another model either so I'm trying to make the best of it. On the plus side, at least it looks like the wait for ITVx is nearly over!

  33. I shifted to India from UAE with my 55SM9000PVA LG TV. Since it is a TV for the middle east, I can not change the region to India. Therefore I can not log in to my LG account and have apps from the LG content store of India. Ok, so I thought I should be able to use my account in UAE and use the apps which I used in UAE. Now these apps say the IP address is not from the region, so can't run those apps. So I am stuck up with an expensive smart TV without smartness. No service center, neither LG India have any answers to it. I hate using set top boxes please help.

  34. @filfae Yes, I finally managed to enable PVR and Live TV functions and everything is working fine! I don't know the meaning of the Energy/Country Code at Toolopt6, what I could understand is that changing them will enable/disable various options in the TV software - I believe they refer to the different TV models and to the Countries in which they are sold. I also think that different TV models have different toolopt6 "class" codes, meaning the first two or three digits in the code. What I suggest you to do is to take a screenshot of the default code on your TV, then search for a screenshot (you can probably find it online or asking on this forum) in which the code has the same first 3 digits but the "DVR Ready" switch set to ON and, VERY IMPORTANT, all the other options set the same as your TV. Selecting a code with random options settings could result in malfunction or damage to your TV: I was lucky because the first time, even if I typed in a wrong code for my TV and it deleted the Magic Remote support engine and some other minor functions, as I later typed in a correct code of the right class of my TV, a software update was released that fixed the problem, and everything works great since then. When you find and type in the correct toolopt6 code for your tv, then you must change the geographic area in the options menu to a country in which DVR is enabled, and the channel list is the same as Italy. I selected Estonia and it works great. The only issue is that I had to turn off automatic time zone selection, so twice a year I have to correct the time manually. Hope it will help you.

  35. I did these steps and it works…….but I have to do this often. TV also constantly drops the internet. I bought two LG TV’s a year ago and both have constant issues. Freezing, won’t connect to internet (fibre optic) and now these issues with my new sound bar. I have to unplug them to reset constantly. I will never buy LG again. I never had these issues with my Samsung’s.

  39. @Sune Interesting, is your TV a C series OLED like @Kuriko TV model? It would be useful to find a common denominator here (a pattern), to see if this is related to a recent firmware update to your LG TV models. His TV is an OLED65C97LA, and I see that the latest firmware for that was dated 12/08/2020 (hopefully European format, NOT USA!). "[05.00.10] 1. Add link for LG TV contents policy notice (German Only) 2. Software update contains minor bug fixes" If it IS from August last year, I would be very surprised if the "minor bug fixes" would have caused a problem to surface now in 2021! Unless the in-built player in the TV has had an update? Are you using the "Smartshare" TV app, or something else?

  40. I agree. Not only is this a popular item to advertise these days by LG, it's also a safety issue. This shouldn't be difficult to add a timer for on/off of eye comfort mode. Ideally WebOS gets this setting plus an additional Picture Mode setting for something like "bedtime" that turns on eye comfort mode and also further reduces the max brightness setting. That way when my wife is watching tv and I'm trying to go to sleep, it's not so annoying.

I was then able to watch my espn + content. Yes the website takes some time to load but the video content once your playing it and go to full screen showed 0% lag. Keep in mind I'm using an ethernet connection on the tv and have a 100 mbps connection. The quality was very good as well, 4k. I added a picture.

  46. Same request. Is there some way we users could get a checkbox during the Bluetooth pairing process that says "Connect automatically"? That way, the default could still be "Ask to connect", but users could have the option to avoid picking up the remote to connect a newly powered on Bluetooth device. I do like that the speakers come on when the Bluetooth device is powered off, but maybe someone would like to set Bluetooth as the default output?
