  1. @davexnet I thought the OP (@colin lawson ) was asking how to tell what the actual broadcast signal was, before being upscaled and displayed, so sorry if I confused things. Certainly a 4K TV will, as you say, upscale to "fill the screen" pixels from the lower resolution source. But, on some sets, SD can look awful, unless at a distance away (say 9 to 10 feet). Given that some channels on Freeview/Sky/Foxtel are still only using SD (and even on "HD" channels, I think SOME older stuff still goes ou at SD) , have a read of this quote from : https://dgit.com/4k-vs-1080p-51521/ "Perhaps the biggest problem with 4K is upscaling. Upscaling means taking something of a lower resolution (like 480p DVD) and stretching it out to fit on higher resolution display. All 4K TVs upscale, obviously. However, not all of them do it very well. Poorly upscaled content can look grainy and soft with jagged edge and loss of detail. Even older standard definition can look just plain bad no matter what 4K TV you buy." 2. @Clipped Sorry, I meant to aim that comment at: @Perry1234 .
  3. @Ehsan vahedi If you want to use Screen sharing, try this link. Bluetooth is not recommended, but you can use the WiFi network. https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/screen-share-screen-mirroring-device-to-tv-CT10000018-20150637965681
  4. @Clipped Is the mix of APPS on the LG TV's the same, or is the Sling TV ONLY on the UN7300PUF model? Just wondering if it is a buggy APP, hogging the TV resources (that are more limited than an expandable PC architecture device). Another thing I noticed, is that the N600 router is quite an old low powered router. The "600" is a combined speed, "Faster WiFi Speed: N600 Dual Band WiFi delivers 300 + 300Mbps " so a bit sneaky in speccing them that way. It probably only has a low power CPU/SOC chip inside, and not much memory for buffers, and probably will NOT have 1GB LAN ports, only 100MBPS. To get a full support of your ISP speed, you might want to either remove unwanted APPS from the problem TV, or upgrade your router.
  5. @colin lawson I think the only (very basic) information is given from the "i" info button on the remote, like HD or SD for any given programme. This is further "muddied" by the fact that HD can mean 720 or 1080. Here are no "apps" that can show this while a programme is being watched, but personally I think there should be more "info" on the "info" screen to shows this.
  6. @Francesco Rossi Sorry about the typo in my earlier post. It should read "they need a partition style of GPT". By the way, I assume you already know that any programmes recorded from the TV to the HDD can ONLY be played back on that TV, as it is in a proprietary format. This is because of DRM and copyright restrictions (that vary widely from country to country).
  7. @Francesco Rossi The problem with HDD over 2TB, is that they need a partition style of GPT rather than MBR, so a utility will be needed to set them up for reading/writing on a smart TV. Have a read of this: https://www.wintips.org/fix-samsung-or-lg-tv-cannot-recognize-usb-drive-up-to-2tb-or-larger-in-size/ Sorry I don't know about the DTS question (possiby not).
  8. @[email protected] Never used it, but you will need to buy a subscription from a reseller, create your login credentials (say on a laptop), then put hat into the TV app. You have to use the following server: http://smarters.link/ Apparrently the epg will not work without this address. Check out this forum: https://iptv.community/threads/smarters-iptv-login-credentials.11627/page-2
  9. @Bogan Silver FYI: be VERY careful clicking links on this (or ANY) forum, if you do not know exactly where they go, or if you do NOT have a good anti-virus and anti-malware program running. Some of the things I see here look VERY suspicious. DO NOT take any chances, as the other posts on here DO NOT appear to be giving you any considered/logical advice or answers, so DO NOT click the links. Bluetooth has various connection standards/protocols, and it is a bit of a minefield for old/new device compatibility, and pairing methods, and security layers. It may be a bit clunky and inconvenient, but you may be better off by preparing a USB stick with your songs/videos, off a laptop or PC, then plugging into your TV. The Smartshare APP and built-in player should be able to play them. Other solutions involve DLNA servers (e.g. NAS disks, with PLEX or similar on your home network), and using LG Smartshare or PLEX TV to get them played on your TV.
  10. @[email protected] Did you try 0000 first? It is the default....
  11. @peemeagher Check this: https://siptv.app/howto/lg/ and then this if you are in a non-supported country: https://siptv.app/howto/lg/country.html
  12. @Jayprakash Patel This forum is just an enthusiasts pere to peer forum, it it NOT owned or run by LG. If it is NOT in the store, you cannot install it. I suspect this app will only be released in certain countries, and might only appear in the LG Store for later model LG TV's, as it may need minimum WebOS version and hardware facilities restrictions. Check on the MX developer twitter or facebook feed.
  13. @Perry1234 Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like either a TV firmware update has affected the TV negatively in some way, or the Sling TV is buggy on your LG model. Check this out (I cannot view the contents, as I am NOT in the USA): https://help.sling.com/en/support/solutions/articles/46000000217-known-issues
  14. @palswim Interesting and neat (but very technical) thing to do! 😊 I assume you are using the latest Smartshare (33).2.3.1511.1201 ? I always found it very clunky and "old fashioned", and as it has not been updated for over 2 years, I suspect it has bugs, and has fallen behind modern techiques and codec standards and stream processing methods. I noticed on the same LG download site when checking the versions, there is mention of a "plex TV" app or "Plex Media Server", but I am unsure if this is suitable for your needs, or compatible with your DLNA setup? See https://www.plex.tv/ By the way, did you check that all of your DLNA devices have the latest firmware, and software stacks running on them?
  15. @Clipped FYI: the 300mbps sounds very low for a 5Ghz (802.11ac) connection, are you sure it is not the 2.4Ghz WiFi SSID (unless they are combined SSID names, then it is hard to tell with some home routers). Test the WiFi strength and signal with a laptop or smart phone, near where the problematic TV is. If you can log into the router, go to the WiFi advance settings, and ensure the channel number is below 100 for the 5GHz (many LG TV WiFi cards dislike high channels, and SSID names over 8 characters). I find channel 36 works well, and channel 8 for the 2.4GHz.
  16. @philipworthington Glad to be of help, I always find useful info on here, and other users experience, and I often learn something new each time, so it is a useful forum. From this link: http://www.lgnewsroom.com/2020/02/apple-tv-app-and-apple-tv-now-available-on-2019-lg-tvs-in-more-than-80-countries/ I saw this bit, and it seems that the premium OLED TV's might get the Apple TV APP first: "LG TV customers can now enjoy Apple TV in addition to AirPlay 2 and HomeKit on all of LG’s 2019 OLED TVs, NanoCell TVs (series SM9X and SM8X) and later this month, the Apple TV app will roll out on select UHD TVs (series UM7X and UM6X). The Apple TV app and Apple TV+ will be available on 2020 TVs at launch and on LG’s 2018 TVs later this year via an over-the-air firmware upgrade." NOTE: yours is a 2019 model However, while waiting for it to arrive (ensure you have a good WiFi connection for firmware updates and app updates), see if this new "LG Channels" app is available (a partnership between LG and Xumo), as it might suffice in the meantime. https://www.lifewire.com/lg-channel-plus-what-you-need-to-know-4074929 Check on the forum here to see if anyone knows what range of LG it is on (I cannot get it on my old 2014 model, but it MIGHT be available on yours now, being a current model)
  17. @philipworthington Is this a new LG TV? Please post the model you have, and what country you reside in, as not all countries have it yet. I understood though, that the Apple TV APP was coming to new models this year, so if not pre-installed in the TV APP list already (along the bottom, scroll left and rigth to see what is there), look in the LG STORE, and scroll down to see if you can install it. You will need to set up an account of course, once you install it.
  18. @Mike_S The only way to get this sorted out is to contact LG and get them to replace the screen. Static images from playing games, or using a TV as a PC monitor for MANY hours day after day are bad for OLED screens. The red logos from Netflix and YouTube, and TV stations tend to cause burn-in areas if you wach the same programs a lot, as the logos tend to be in the same place. Place a call with your country LG site and see what they say.
  19. @AspieMum It has to be enabled by holding (pressing) the scroll wheel for a couple of seconds, after selecting the app of interest, until you see it change and rise a bit (OR the OK if not a magic remote). Do you NOT see the icon with the 3 forward slashes, like in the article below? https://www.lg.com/uk/support/product-help/CT00008334-1436489022531
  20. @AspieMum Try this: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-delete-apps-on-lg-smart-tvs-4589862
  21. @TyneBridges As you are using a Windows PC, you might want to consider getting the latest Feature Update called 20H2 (it is the one following on from Feature Update "2004" that was supposed tot be 2020 Month 04, but that was late). I hear good reports that it is a very good update, and also makes the "Project Screen" function work well for many smart TV's, including most LG models that are network connected. You can get to this easily by pressing the WIN + P keys together. That way you can control the slide-show and other content from the PC/Laptop side, and use better "apps" or real 32-BIT EXE programs to display stuff better.
  22. @AnonViewer Some UI (User Interfaces) have a "save new settings" or similar banner to click, often at the bottom of settings pages. Check that out in case it is needed, after changing your resolution. If it is still failing to save that new setting, see if there are any software updates (new firmware) for that particular DishNXT HD model.
  23. @Penfold From what I understand, the Sky Plus box is similar to many older Set-Top-Box PVR boxes, in that they do not fully support HDMI-CEC for proper control of connected devices. This is similar to the Foxtel boxes here in Australia, certainly my old iQ2 box is similar, and I hear that even their new iQ4 box is not fully HDMI-CEC compliant. I saw on another forum, tha the Sky Q box SHOULD be OK for doing the Record from the TV Guide, but if you cannot get an upgrade deal (threatening to cancel often gets a result), then consider one of those multi-remote gadgets, I hear that the Harmony Remote will cover most requirements. If you DO decide on the Harmony Remote, I think that HDMI-CEC needs to be off on your TV HDMI setings options.
  24. @mohanad Ibrahim From what I can see so far, the cause is that the Vestel manufactured LED backlight strips turn blue after some time, and can then fail completely. These are what produces the white brightness behind the coloured pixel leds. These were supplied to MANY TV manufacturers for a time, so many brands and models may get this. If you are from the UK, you might be able to claim on the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (the item must be fit for purpose for 6 years). See: https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/445366/Why+does+everything+have+a+blue+tint for background. See this site for replacements, but be warned, the TV will need a very complex strip-down to get at the screen internal "guts" where these bars are that will need replacing (see the Youtube video - you will need some good expertise and care to do it). The parts are around £65, more for genuine LG, so could easily be £150 - £250 plus for an TV tech to do it. BARS: https://tvledbars.com/?s=43uj630v-ta&post_type=product TYPICAL HOW-TO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5Zyqowl6zg
  25. @LG user 42LB6500-TH Just to clarify: 1) are you using an AV Receiver for sound/surround sound? 2) Did any of the input devices USED to work before, or has the "problem" just occurred? 3) Did the issue start just after the update to 05.05.55? 4) Does the Live TV, or other APPS on the TV work correctly for sound and video? SUGGESTION: Remove all devices, unplug the TV from mains power, hold its power button for 30 seconds, plug TV back to power, then check each input device individually, either using the HDMI ARC, or an input for DVD players, sometimes marked "BD". If one device works in one socket, experiment with the other one to see which input works best. If you DO use an AV Receiver amp, then you will need to plug those devices into the input sockets of your AVR, and retest (but bear in mind that not all units are HDMI-CEC compliant, so you may need to turn HDMI-CEC off for those devices, and the AVR HDMI Port.
