@AndreasW In the meantime, after researching @George Hofmeister excellent feedback, have you thought of using a laptop, and controlling the YT app from there, and using the Windows 10 "project screen" functionality? It won't be ideal, but hopefully more controllable and less buggy that on the TV directly. NOTE: I have had feedback that users need to update the Windows 10 OS to the latest feature Upgrade (that is 20H2 that some call the "October Update"), as it will make the Screen Mirroring (Project Screen) work better for more TV types. The name 20H2 means the update for "second half of 2020" as they went away from YYYYMM naming strings, as the release time-frame could not always be done in the month intended. If your device or country/area cannot get that update yet, update to the older "2004" May update and try the Project Screen,, Failing that, try using an HDMI cable connection, if your PC/Laptop device has an HDMI socket.

WebOS TV "satellite LNB short" error
td47 replied to leader6234's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@leader6234 You can check your signal and cable with one of these (from $10 or so): https://www.ebay.com.au/b/Sat-TV-Signal-Finder-TV-Signal-Finders/67882/bn_7029675674?rt=nc&_sop=15 -
@123telford123 I think @George Hofmeister is asking if you have paired the speaker to the TV. Older sets cannot do this, the blutooth is used mainly for the Magic Remote. Please post the TV model, some later models may have more functionality with BlueTooth . Check your manual or TV specs.

WebOS browser saving site passwords.
td47 replied to Freewheelin37's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Freewheelin37 The TV browsers are not really designed for "fully functioning" web browsing and password management (none have a proper "password manager" as far as I know). They are really for casual browsing only. They have never been designed to be "PC Replacements" although many people try to use them like that, and are dissapointed when they find that they cannot download and update "apps" and browsers like a PC or phone can. Some owners even ask if they can upgrade the TV's memory! The best way to use your Internet Web accounts, is to use your PC/Laptop, download a GOOD browser like Firefox, that has an EXCELLENT password manager built in, and will even detect password fields for new accounts setups, and suggest very secure random password strings, that you can save for every account, (and once saved you can edit any via an excellent User interface (UI )). Logging into any of thos accounts will automatically bring up the correct user name and login (even if on seperate pages for most sites). -
@Roadrunner99 If the 05.80.55 firmware loads, installs, and the TV works OK, stick with that. I believe that any WebOS updates (if applicable) would come "bundled" with any valid Firmware update that is compatible with the models it is designed for. I understand that the TV hardware (chip-sets and CPU and memory capabilities) are the main limiting factor for having WebOS updates (or not). Some older TV's (2014 - 2015) models had a stripped-down WebOS V4 called 3.5 Lite, but LG do not have the money and resources to bring tailored WebOS releases to every TV variant from say 2013 - 2016, just to get few featured and software/app compatibilities, when the main "new features" can only be supported by later hardware "chip-sets" on the motherboards of the 2019/2020 sets (that cover later hardware and software standards and protocols) that will work properly WITH those new/later WebOS levels (e.g. WebOS 5.x). Remember that specifications (HDMI eARC, device and IoT support) and functionality and protocols are changing all the time, and much of that has to be embodied INSIDE the chip-sets in the hardware itself, and NOT emulated in software, as it is inefficient and slows down performance. See this link for some old complaints about WebOS lack of updates: https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1452513673

WiFi button in off position can’t turn on?
td47 replied to Neil gunn's question in LG webOS Smart TV App Questions
@Neil gunn Yes, I have seen this reported a lot to, for many different LG models. They tend to use the same very small module, about the size of a large postage stamp! I never suffered from a WiFi issue with my TV room, as it is a "wired room" (has a LAN Ethernet cable direct to the Router). I split that into 4 connections in the HiFi cabinet (for Foxtel box, TV, spare for Laptop) via a comms SWITCH (modern smart version of a HUB), cost only $20 (D-LINK switches work well). However, that little module ALSO supports the magic Remote Bluetooth buttons, and mine broke after a thunderstorm a few months back. I found that the "LG TV PLUS" app on my Android phone works great as a temporary workaround for that issue, until I can get eldest son down here to help get TV lifted off the wall bracket to replace the module. -
@Roadrunner99 There is always a risk using software the might not be well tested for a specific TV and country mix. Also, the HOTSTAR could have bugs of its own, when used on certain TV models. I would say it could be a 50/50 chance that the Hotstar app has bugs, and the firmware has bugs.

@Steve Marks Thanks for confirming the model is an LG UK model 43LM6300PLA At https://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-43LM6300PLA shows under "Additional Feature" it shows Time Machine and other DVR related stuff: Additional Feature Time Machine (DVR): Yes Digital Recording: Yes Analog DVR: Yes Time Shift: Yes So, in theory this COULD be done, BUT you mention FreeSat. I am not familiar with this, only FreeView+ HBB stuff. Have you tried the normal antenna FTA (digital Freeview+) channels from the normal antenna? Those certainly work on my Australian LG 55UB850T. Can you tune those in, and recheck if you can set up (initialise) the HDD disk for Time Machine use?

@kimbovk1984 Translated the above: " hello good [people], I have a television lg webos tv oled55b7v and the image and the colors do not look good. I need someone who can show me how to configure [it]". As no-one on this forum will be able to "see" the issue, or know what you current settings actually are, it would be almost impossible to know how to advise you on what to do. You need to call in a local TV technician, and let him take a look, and set things to how you want them.

Miracast on LG OLEN 55 CX 9 LA
td47 replied to JuliusCaesar's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@JuliusCaesar First, on the laptop, check that it is on the same WiFi band (2.4GHz or 5GHz) as the TV. Then on the laptop, go to ALL Settings (from the notifications bottom right), key in "media" without the quotes in the search box, and when you see "Media Streaming" select that. If it is off, click the "turn it on" banner, and set all discovered devices you want to "stream" (or cast) to to ALLOW in the tick-boxes (make sure that they are ALL turned on first of course)! Then try again. If you still have issues, ensure you are at the latest Feature Update on Windows 10 (that could be the April 2020 one, called "2004", or the new October one called "20H2". I hear that the later one is MUCH better than the "2004" one! Failing all of the above, you may have to resort to using "Smartshare" on the laptop (downloadable program) and TV, but I always found it very clunky and unreliable. -
@David Ramplin I HAVE seen something similar posted on here, and it MIGHT be related to TV firmware or WebOS updates on certain models. This is only a Peer to Peer forum, and has NO control or voice, or feed DIRECTLY into LG. If this is a recent issue, and you think it is caused by a recent update, please report it to LG support in your country. The more user who report issue, the quicker the resolution (in theory anyway). 😊

@Steve Marks Please post the LG TV model you have, and what country you are in. They don't all support the "Time Machine" in-built app, and in some countries (like Italy), LG have not paid the licence to use the feature for recording broadcast TV programmes. NOTE: even if you get this working (if your TV supports this), you CANNOT take those recordings off that device, to use on another TV or PC for example (or plug the SSD into another device), they are in a proprietary format, and NOT portable, for copyright and DRM reasons. Google DRM to see the implications. If you want to "pause live TV AND record programmes", you may need to get a set-top-box and add a disk to that, OR get a SKY or FOXTEL box or similar, depending on your country. These can be as cheap as $39 (you have to add your own disk at the front): https://www.harveynorman.com.au/laser-stb-6000-hd-set-top-box-and-digital-recorder.html or a big brand with its own 1TB disk, and better functionality for around $400 here: https://www.harveynorman.com.au/panasonic-smart-network-1tb-pvr-with-twin-hd-tuner.html

Red cursor has suddenly disappeared
td47 replied to Tony Levy's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Tony Levy It sounds more like the TV to be honest. Check if you have had a recent software (WEBOS or firmware) update recently. Also, if you have a "quickstart" option set or active, turn it off and recheck the issue. -
Red cursor has suddenly disappeared
td47 replied to Tony Levy's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Tony Levy That is interesting that a power off makes it work again. When the remote cursor function is failing, does the HOME button still work? Can you also select your different APPS (e.g. YouTube, or Netflix etc)? If thos are also failing, then the Bluetooth Module in the TV is failing in some way, or drops the "pairing" after the TV goes into standby. Some users are posting that some LG TV models suffer from this little internal combo (Bluetooth & WiFi) module can get too warm, and drops the pairing of the remote. Is there anything under the TV (such as an AV amplifier etc.) that might make the issue worse, with heat rising INTO the TV above it? -
Red cursor has suddenly disappeared
td47 replied to Tony Levy's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Tony Levy Most of the "magic remotes" use 2 different technologies to support the buttons. Some use regular "IR" (Infra-Red) like standard remotes, while other buttons (like the HOME button, and the ballistic "red cursor") use Bluetooth (like a wireless PC Mouse). Test that your Bluetooth functionality is working on the TV side by pressing the Home button. If it works OK, and you can select your TV APPS with the left and right, then the Bluetooth side is working, and the issue is likely to be the remote itself, possibly the ballistic motion detector "chip" inside it. If the Home button does NOT work, check out how to Re-Pair the remote with the TV Bluetooth. Try this if pairing is the issue: -
@T0BlAS FYI: there may be another setting section for actual country or region coding. Those other numbers may be "subordinate" to the "region" (say Europe, Asia etc), and country codes. Make a note of them before you change them as the TV could become inoperative. I found this in a related forum, but was from 2015, so later TV models may well have a totally different setup or menu options. The country code for UK appears to be 3122. "I have LG 60UB850T purchased and using it in Dubai. Managed to change location using LG Service Menu Explorer app for Android downloaded from Google Playstore and installed on my Samsung 10.1 Tablet. With TV on, run the app and select Infra-red as means of connection. App opens to look like remote control. Press button which looks like a 'red Wand' icon on right hand side. You are asked to enter one of two codes, mine was 0413. You are now presented with EX-ADJ menu, scroll down to 'Area Settings' using the down arrows and press enter. Change the top line 4 digit to the code of your choice. 3122 for UK, 1793 for US etc. Press 'red wand' until service menu closes and just have TV, reboot the TV (turn off then on). WEBOS should reload. Go to TV settings menu and select Location, your selected continent should be selected all you have to do is select country of service."

@-ethan- Have you let your local country LG SUPPORT site know that this is now an issue/bug? This is only an LG peer to peer information site, and is NOT owned or run by LG. Subject matter Experts and enthusiasts MAY have answers or workarounds, but Firmware bugs are the responsibility of the manufacturer to fix and put right. The more users contact them and report issues, the quicker it will get fixed.

@anand shinde OK, thanks for confirming the model number, and that it happened after a firmware update. So, did you investigate what WiFi band you are using (2.4GHz or 5GHz), and what the SSID names are for these bands, that your router is broadcasting (see the 8 characters and over issue)? There could ALSO be another issue, regarding using high channel numbers, as the later firmware may have tightened up some channel range/restrictions for different countries rules (or maybe even got the tightening up too strict). The info below makes the assumption that you can log into your router, and you are able to view the advanced WiFi settings, and see the channel it is using for the 5GHz band. NOTE: if your WiFi is often dropping in and out due to the issues mentioned, it may well need you to re-input the password if it thinks it is a new connection. I know that should not happen if it has a previous "record" of the correct SSID name, BUT this firmware update could have introduced a buggy setup on the WiFi interfacing. I will reproduce my post on this below for your comment and feedback (as some users have found this fixes the 5GHz side for some TV models): "For those who get frequent WiFi connection drop-outs, I picked this bit of useful info from another forum. Note that this may well apply to many other LG models than the C9, as they often use common WiFi internal cards/modules: "Network/Ethernet/Wi-Fi Problem: C9 [or other models] will lose the wireless connection and you have to reconnect daily (but wired is stable); Conditions: TV is connected to a 5GHz router; Cause: (1) the router may be unstable on the 5GHz band [possibly too far from router]; (2) the router has the 5GHz band set on a higher channel - over 100; Resolution: (1) change the TV to the 2.4GHz band (2) set the channel [in the ROUTER advanced WiFi settings]!! for the 5GHz band below 100 (ex. 40-50) - [channel 36 is often OK]."

@anand shinde Is this the 43UK6780PTE TV model you were posting about back in June? 1) When did this start to happen? 2) Has anything changed since then (firmware update, New router, New ISP, change from 2GHz band to 5GHz band on the WiFi)?? 3) what is the SSID name of your network on those bands? 4) Have you checked with you phone near the TV to see what the signal strength is (The WiFi bars icon, NOT the phone tower signal strength). Ensure you check the same band that the TV is using. NOTE: for item 3, the reason I ask, is that some models of LG TV do NOT like connecting to SSID names with LONG names (over 8 characters, and/or with special characters in).

@Michiel Romme The initial password for LG Signage Control manager is 1105, but some OEM designs or added software layers might change it, and lock further changes to it. I assume you purchased a used item, and want to change something? What model is it? If you need to "get into it" and change stuff/settings, etc, try a factory/default settings (from user settings -> general I think).

Specifically one site has ssl error
td47 replied to Mark67's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Mark67 FYI: now that SSL security certs only last 364 days, this is going to catch many site admins out, with remote working etc. They all have to me more vigilant, and renew them on time! -
@Sushith I saw somewhere on here that the Location Code is 4816 for India. I suspect you wil need the LG service menu explorer APP for your phone to get to that, or follow the "how to get to the service menu" articles on various LG forums. I think I saw that there is an "LG service menu India" on the Play Store for phones, but I am not sure what will work best for you.

@Kuldeep Patel There are many sites that will not load in the LG WebOS provided browsers, even in the latest TV models. The browser is often not compatible with some sites (or sites are not catering for "older" style browsers). See the post below: https://www.lgwebos.com/topic/5877-modern-web-browser/

@Brennan Phoenix I wholeheartedly agree with your excellent post. It is great that you have"pointed the finger" so well, with facts and figures that they cannot refute and excuse. As you and others are saying, this current state of affairs with such an important Smart TV function (a workable and updateable browser), compared with the equivalent Android situation, positions LG in a very bad light compared with other manufacturers. This has certainly opened my eyes VERY WIDE, so when I am ready to change my TV, LG may well be very low down the shopping list!!
