How to use Google meet with an LGOLED55C9PLA , plus 2 other questions
td47 replied to Arthur Dent's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Arthur Dent Sound Bar: The good thing about sound bars (good ones anyway), is that it is all self-contained, and you have all speakers you need (a 3.1 unit wil get you Left, Centre, Right, and a Subwoofer for those film explosions/effects/low bass sounds, that you can put anywhere in the front sound-stage usually). The slightly negative is that some do not have the "fine" controls you might like to tweak the sound settings to suit your room, your ears, and your listening tastes exactly (compared with a good AV Receiver/AMP). I see good reviews of this LG one, but if you get one that has a "Clear Voice" setting, or you can use the "clear voice" setting on some LG TV's, that will "carry through" on the HDMI cable to the unit, and get you better dialogue via the centre speaker: https://www.lg.com/au/sound-bars/lg-SN6Y -
@Sampike999 Try turning off the HDMI-CEC control for the HDMI port that is causing the issue. It will be called "Simplink" in LG-speak. If that is still a problem, try then also turning off the "Quick start+ option on the TV settings, as I hear this can cause odd issues. To do that: Press the Home/Smart button on your remote to bring up your launcher bar. Click the Settings icon in the top-right. Choose the All Settings option at the bottom. Choose the General menu from the left. Under Quick Start +, set it to Off. SIMPLINK is usually under the General settings:

@Sampike999 Firstly, indoor antennas are RARELY good enough for Digital HD, unless you are about 2K from the transmitter (even if amplified)! Best get a PROPER roof antenna. When you plug in any HDMI souce, the HDMI-CEC kicks in, and the TV will GO to that input. Did you try changing inputs back to the Freeview+ (Live TV)? Is the HDMI input marked as ARC or eARC on the back of the BH7440P by the way?
-
@Greg Bryant Most likely a firmware bug, and complex timing issue. New features are often buggy for a while until all the variations (changing standards, one device/input not playing nice with the TV, or not following proper, published standards, causing possible unexpected problems and timing issues - sometimes called a "race condition"). Have you checked that your CX model has the latest firmware? I thought I had seen that was fixed one a recent update? What is your EXACT model, and what firmware do you have?

@Khamikaze It seems a lot of users are having trouble in the UPNP/DLNA area, for some Android TV's as well. Many routers have UPNP disabled becuase of security concerns, so you might need to see if : 1) it is re-enabled in your router, 2) it is enabled in your windows settings or services, so that all the devices that need it, are seen. https://www.vlchelp.com/access-media-upnp-dlna/ Using streams MIGHT work, but it is NINE steps, seems very cumbersome! https://videoconverter.wondershare.com/vlc/stream-vlc-to-tv.html It seems that the UPNP networked devices settings was moved or removed between VLC 2.x and 3.x, have you reached out to VLC support to ask about your issues? Otherwise, give this a try, as a VLC alternative (Wondershare Uniconverter): https://videoconverter.wondershare.com/vlc/play-dlna-content-using-vlc.html

Why does tv say file download not supporyed
td47 replied to Sue Jackson's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Arthur Dent As @George Hofmeister has already pointed out, downloading of file types not compatible with the TV operating system will be blocked, as any attempted use of such files would NOT work, and produce confusing error messages for the user. Any operating system for ANY device (TV, router, Set-top-box etc.) would HAVE to protect itself from abuse, otherwise it could be rendered inoperative. I think you might be trying to compare WebOS, and a smart TV with PC-like attributes, but it is like chalk and cheese comparisons. In any event, Apple devices are VERY restrictive of what can/cannot be installed, as THAT OS is a closed system. -

td47 replied to Arthur Dent's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Arthur Dent I agree with you about the TV sound. Many TV models have "tinny" sound, dues to the space limitations, and use of "Piezo" speakers. To get better sound and dialogue, you might want to invest in a good quality Sound Bar (with a centre speaker), or better still an AVR or AV amp. Some have extra functionality, like the one below, but a lower end Yamaha like my RX-V385 works fine: The Yamaha RX-V6A AV Receiver seems to have good specs and reviews, but many do not need all the features (as it is about $AUD 1100 here): Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and MusicCast multi-room audio - Dolby Atmos® with height virtualization, Voice control with Alexa and Google Assistant devices. *Availability varies by region - MusicCast Surround capable - add MusicCast 20 or MusicCast 50 speakers to create wireless surround sound. The main thing I wanted a modern AVR for my TV setup, was to concentrate the (sometimes awful) dialoge on films and some TV series, to be intelligible, and this can be done via a variety of settings (although still might not cope with some BBC dramas that suffer from "Mumble-Gate" - Google it to see what was reported). The modern "acting method" of "natural dialogue" is the bain of the Sound Engineer's job, where they dont "project the voice", so a lot is lost to wind noise, and natural background noise, and that damn "incidental music" that some idiot plays over the dialogue. OK, rant over, but you get the idea - a good Centre Speaker is a must. -
@Khamikaze Please post your TV model, as some older LG TV's do not handle DLNA stuff, and external multi-media that well. If you update your PC/Laptop to Windows 10, and ensure it has the latest feature Update (20H2), I hear reports that it is very good with "projecting" its screen to many TV models, so may work well using that as your Multimedia playback source. It is best to ensure that it is on the same WiFi band (2.4GHz or 5GHz) as the TV. Just ensure that "media streaming" is turned on in Windows 10 settings (put it onto the search box to get to it quickly) , and that all devices are turned on that you need to stream from/to, and that they all have the ALLOW ticked on for those that you need to use, in the GUI choice window for detected devices.

How to use Google meet with an LGOLED55C9PLA , plus 2 other questions
td47 replied to Arthur Dent's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Arthur Dent Many users fall into the trap of comparing a smart TV with a PC, and think that they are free to add any browser of choice, and any program (WIN32 executable, utility, or that horrible word "app") that they please. Unfortunately, a bit like Apple devices, they are VERY locked-down, and you can only install software ("apps") from the official store, in your case, the LG store. As for a camera, again only certain LG TV's are compatible with an LG camera, and I don't think any "official" ones ares still available. A few LG models had cameras built in, but I don't know which those are. LG DO show one for a 2011 smart TV (link below), but I doubt it would work on current ones. Your best bet is to use a camera on your PC or Laptop. Laptops with an HDMI out socket can connect to your TV, but I think that a Skype session will look AWFUL on a big TV screen..... just stick to the laptop! https://www.lg.com/au/tv-accessories/lg-AN-VC300-tv-accessory -
@jhsquires Please post what LG TV model you have, and explain what your "Cable box wireless box" is. LAN/Ethernet cable: unless it is a "loopback" cable, if should not matter so long as the far end (assuming it goes into your router or switch) is disconnected, then you should be able to see what the strongest WiFi signal is listed by SSID in the detected signals by the TV, then attempt to connect to the know SSID of your home router or AP (Access Point). I am assuming that once the LAN is disconnected, you can turn the WiFi ON (if turned off). The little WiFi/Bluetooth Combo card in the TV CAN fail due to storms or power spikes, or can just fail electronically inside, and might need replacing.

Why does tv say file download not supporyed
td47 replied to Sue Jackson's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Karen kelly- Mc Laughlin You can only install apps from the LG store on your TV. Smart TV Browsers are basic compared with PC browsers, and are written to function with the WebOS (TV operating system) limitations, and functional limitations of the TV hardware. -
how to add BISS KEY to lg smart tv ?
td47 replied to Ahmed SC's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Ahmed SC You can only add apps to your TV from the LG store supplied to your TV in your country of use. However, you are about 5 firmware updates behind, as the latest is now 05.31.00, so ensure it IS connected to your home network, and retry the update check. -
Missing My5 application in LG store?
td47 replied to harryw66's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@harryw66 Is the 43UN73006LC a 2019 or 2020 model? The reason I ask, is because the 2019 models SHOULD have it, but the 2020 models might miss out, because LG did not renew a Freeview deal last year for them to be able to put the app (and some others) in the LG store for 2020 TV's. Hopefully they will get this fixed, as it must be frustrating for owners who purchased a "new" TV last year to find a useful service missing! By the way, if you still have your Humax box, plug that in to the LG via an HDMI cable, and you can use that until you get an update to the LG store. My TV is stuck when powering on showing a pin code
td47 replied to majed abutrab's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@majed abutrab Try the default 0000 that should work for the initial PIN, then you can set your own PIN (BUT WRITE IT DOWN). -
are we getting Airplay for OLED65C7T (2018 OLED) or not?
td47 replied to Simon Block's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Simon Block That is interesting that you quoted having 05.80.55 firmware on your OLED65C7T model. I searched for that, but found only version 04.70.71. However, I seem to be directed to the Australian LG site (as it is my Locale), so maybe I am looking in the wrong place. After a lot of searching, I found 05.80.55 under the model "OLED65B7A.AUS" so probably a similar model range? As regards your issue, I don't beleive LG monitor this peer-to-peer support forum, so they will not (as far as I know) ever officially comment here. Although the original AirPlay has been around since 2010, the modern AirPlay2 was only announced as being supported and integrated into Smart TV's at CES2019 show, and given the difficulties with COVID during most of 2020, I think this has slowed a LOT of R&D and testing with many manufacturers. There are probably many more factors at play, but I suspect COVID (and the resultant lack of extra revenue to allocate during a pandemic) has had a big effect on this sort of thing. I also suspect that LG would see supporting older 2018 TV's (already purchased, so no revenue stream) as additional R&D and testing costs, with NO return on that investment, just to help iPhone or iPad users send a Netflix film to thier TV. -
@exnor Please cite your source for this information, I would be interested in that for future reference.

@MD NUMAIR KHAN The only risk to the above (factory reset), will be that the apps where you have an account, you will have to re-input your login details one time.

No sharing posibility wiht win10 to LG OLED55GX6LA
td47 replied to Bart van Loon's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Bart van Loon Update your Windows 10 to 20H2, and ensure it is on the same WiFi network (2.4GHZ or 5GHZ) as the TV, then try again. -
@Ishan Kurnal The WebOS 6.0 release is on the new 2021 LG models, but of course that will be designed to work with the new hardware (new internal support chips Video Processing, and for decoding etc.) and therefore optimised to work with those. Comparing the C9 (2018/19) with the CX (2020) models I think the CX's had a new video processor - 'Alpha 9 Gen 3' (O20 chip versus O18 chip) but it is unknown if an 'Alpha 9 Gen 4' exists (as an O21??) for the 2021 models, as exposing and using some/all of the internal hardware features will all depend on how the firmware is written, to cover lower end through to higher end models with a single firmware image. Back-porting WebOS 6.0 into older 2019/2020 models MAY happen over time, but if the hardware differences are significant, it might not be possible to "tweak it to fit" and work OK in the older models. From this site: https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1610082905 "Version 6.0 of webOS will be available on LG's 2021 OLED and LCD TVs. The company did not announce plans to update previous TV models with webOS 6.0. In the past, LG has declined to upgrade webOS in its previous TVs."

@Ishan Kurnal I understand your frustration, and I DO realise it is not just YOUR TV! This forum is ONLY a peer-to-peer forum for LG enthusiasts to help other like-minded owners with problems and technical queries, but it has NO connection with LG, and does NOT have any power to lobby for changes. With that in mind, have you contacted LG support in your country, to ask what the issue is about the lack of update to the APPS in question? It may be a contractual issue, or a technical issue, or even a financial one, or a combination of all three! If they are not forthcoming, try contacting the company that controls the APP (i.e. Disney) in your country, either directly, or via any available Facebook page or group, or their Twitter feed. If still no luck, see if any of the Consumer Associations in your country have had any similar issues/complaints, to see if they can help. By the way, is the article still correct, in that you need to use the Togo channel still, on the LG TV, to get 4K content?

A bit of technical "buzzword" info (IPS and VA)

@eespinosa64 The Shield TV is HDMI cable connected, so the actual TV will be acting differently when that is active, as it will be sending an "active stream" to the TV all the time, even if a static image. However, when you have a TV APP active in the WebOS, a static artwork image will be detected by the screensaver timer. If you can configure ArtHola to display a changing set of images, that changes each one in just under the minute timer, you might stop the internal screensaver kicking in. If that does not work, reach out to the ArtHola developers on their web-site, to see if they have a suggestion.

2020 LG Smart TV stuck on WebOS 03.10.60
td47 replied to CrunchyBrunch's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@CrunchyBrunch Can you please provide the full model number, as there may be country variations in the firmware releases, and I can only find 03.10.53 as the closest to the one you quoted, using model 49UN71006LB. The latest firmware for that is 03.21.10.- 2 replies

@Ishan Kurnal What is your LG TV mdel? Does it definately support HDR? In the meantime, I spotted this info (I assume your region is India, as you mention Hotstar): Disney+ Hostar 4K streaming is available on Togo only, as of writing the article [5th August 2020]. The 4K movies are playing in 4K and HDR but not Dolby Vision. It has 5.1 surround sound and not Dolby Atmos. See: https://www.digit.in/news/entertainment/disney-hotstar-starts-streaming-in-4k-hdr-in-india-55707.html

How to connect my LG TV to Google Home Hub?
td47 replied to Santosh Kumar Gupta's question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
@Santosh Kumar Gupta As your LG TV model was released in 2016, there will be NO support for any Home Automation in the TV, and I did not see any mention of it in the specifications. I am not aware of any external equipment or installable TV APPS that you can use with older LG models. If others on this forum have experience with Home Automation and TV interfacing, I am sure they will step up if they know a way.
