  1. Probably the hardest working appliance of every home is the refrigerator, working non-stop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. But such a heavy workload means our most essential appliance is also our most energy hungry, which is why properly taking care of your fridge benefits both the environment and your wallet. To make that job simpler, LG designed its InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator range to deliver the most energy-efficient features while at the same time providing outstanding convenience for the perfect kitchen life. Keep Food Fresh, Open That Door Less Ask yourself this: how many times do you open your refrigerator without taking anything out? We’re all guilty of opening the fridge door out of curiosity or to check what needs replenishing and this has a significant impact on how much energy you use. LG’s Door-in-Door feature reduces cold air loss by providing a separate space for your most popular items. This seemingly simple design not only lets your hardest-working home appliance operate far more efficiently, it also saves you a handsome sum by keeping the compressor — the engine that creates all that cold air — from working overtime, the key to increasing its lifespan.1 Along with all its other innovative features, the LG InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator has amassed a loyal fan, resulting in more than one million units being sold worldwide in 2020. Being the Perfect Host with Craft Ice When hosting friends and family, an ice maker can make the difference between a good drink and a great drink. LG InstaView refrigerator with Craft Ice automatically makes standard ice cubes, crushed ice or LG’s exclusive round Craft Ice which last longer than ice cubes, keeping drinks cooler longer.2 Cocktails and soft drinks taste so much better with clear, aesthetically-pleasing ice balls seen in the fanciest restaurants and bars. ThinQ-Powered Convenience To reduce energy consumption and your energy bill, LG’s ThinQ AI platform sends notifications to your smartphone if your refrigerator door is left ajar. Users can control key features from anywhere inside or outside the home through either the LG ThinQ app or voice commands using Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.3 You can even activate vacation mode on your smartphone ThinQ app to check the refrigerator and freezer temperatures remotely when away from home for an extended period of time. Smarter Living with Proactive Customer Care Proactive Customer Care (PCC), LG’s AI-infused smart customer service, lets users manage their refrigerator’s performance with minimal effort. LG’s PCC service analyzes usage patterns and provides maintenance tips and alerts for potential issues to keep your appliance performing at its best. The comprehensive AI service guides you through the installation process, teaches you how to use your LG devices and informs you when supplies are running low or when software updates become available.4 LG’s latest InstaView refrigerators will be displayed virtually in LG’s digital CES 2022 exhibition booth starting January 5. # # # 1 Reduction of cold air loss up to 41 percent based on Intertek testing of models SX5534WB, GR-S632GLRC and LFX3194ST/02 using LG internal testing method measuring percentage reduction in exchange rate of air when opening Door-in-Door compared to regular refrigerator door for 10 seconds. Results may vary by model and duration of door opening. 2 Craft Ice lasts approximately 15 percent longer than cubic ice in water based on internal tests comparing the average melting rate of Craft Ice and cubic ice in an environment of 25-27 degrees Celsius and water temperature of 9 degrees Celsius. 3 Applicable for models with Wi-Fi connectivity with both the appliance and LG ThinQ app connected. Service and feature compatibility may vary depending on the region. 4 Availability of Proactive Customer Care may vary depending on model or region. View the full article
  2. Anyone seeking the best big-screen gaming experience need look no further than LG’s 2022 OLED TV lineup. With their self-lit pixels delivering ultra-fast response time and support for the latest gaming features, not to mention the latest PC hardware, consoles and cloud gaming services, LG’s advanced TVs take high-definition gaming to immersive new heights. Over the years LG OLED TVs have added many industry-first features to deliver gaming excellence. LG OLED was the first TV to be certified by NVIDIA as G-SYNC® Compatible and LG 8K OLED TV was the first to demonstrate 8K gaming with NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards. LG once again raised the bar for gamer-friendly TVs with the addition of support for Dolby Vision® at 4K 120Hz. ©2021 MARVEL LG OLED TVs have been the real deal when it comes to leading the way in the adoption of genuine HDMI® 2.1 features and inputs and LG’s newest models continue that tradition with expanded HDMI 2.1 support. Every new LG OLED TV, QNED Mini LED TV, QNED TV and NanoCell TV will support automatic low latency mode (ALLM) and enhanced audio return channel (eARC) with most OLED, QNED Mini LED and QNED TVs certified to support variable refresh rate (VRR). LG’s 2022 TVs have also been certified by HDMI Authorized Test Centers (ATC) for meeting the requirements set out in the latest HDMI 2.1 standards including VRR, eARC, Display Stream Compression (DSC) and support for Fixed Rate Link (FRL) up to 48Gbps.1 DSC is a future-proofing technology that enables visually lossless compression for ultra high definition displays. LG introduced DSC in its SIGNATURE OLED 8K Z series, 8K QNED Mini LED TVs and 8K NanoCell TVs in 2021, providing viewers with outstanding 8K 60Hz 12-bit 4:4:4 video capabilities. Able to enhance the clarity and definition of onscreen objects and colors, DSC is now offered in seven LG 2022 TV models with VRR and DSC support in the LG lineup.2 Select 2022 LG TVs also feature four ports that support FRL, a signaling technology supported in the HDMI 2.1 specification, to deliver higher uncompressed resolutions at ultra-high speed bandwidths (up to 48Gbps) for super-fast gaming and hyper-realistic graphics.3 Some LG premium TVs (models OLED Z2/G2, QNED99/95) also come Wi-Fi 6 certified, ensuring smooth online gameplay and more reliable content streaming for more speed and less latency than ever before. Wi-Fi 6 will be especially advantageous to subscribers of cloud gaming services such as NVIDIA GeForce NOW and Google Stadia, both available on LG 2022 Smart TVs. With Game Optimizer, LG’s latest TVs make setting up the ideal gaming environment a fast and simple affair. A one-stop menu for all gaming-related settings, Game Optimizer lets users select and switch between game specific features as well as game genre display presets such as first-person shooters and role-playing while the new Sports option brings an added sense of realism to action-packed games. Game Optimizer provides quick access to the new Dark Room Mode, which adjusts screen brightness for a better gaming experience in a dim or dark room. Players can easily change the screen’s aspect ratio to suit the game they are playing or the device they’re using (PC or console) as well as manage NVIDIA G-SYNC®, FreeSync Premium and VRR settings all from the Game Optimizer menu. Players can also activate Blue Light Reduction to help prevent eye fatigue and AI Game Sound to transport themselves deeper into their favorite titles. With its 2022 OLED and premium LCD TVs, LG is once again demonstrating a commitment to meeting the needs of today’s gamers and delivering the best big-screen gaming experience possible. 3. 2022 LG Models Deliver Superb Picture Quality, More Screen Sizes, Smart Lifestyle Services LAS VEGAS, Jan. 3, 2022 — LG Electronics (LG) today unveiled its most advanced and impressive TV lineup yet, headlined by the company’s exceptional 2022 OLED TVs. With powerful imaging technologies and an improved webOS offering even more smart features and services, LG’s latest models are expected to elevate the viewing and user experience like never before. LG OLED The leader of the global premium TV market for nine years and counting and a CES Innovation Award honoree for eight consecutive years, LG OLED TV has reshaped the premium TV segment to become the first choice for millions of consumers worldwide.1 OLED TVs employ self-lighting pixels that can be turned on and off individually to deliver perfect blacks, incredibly natural colors and infinite contrast. Backlight-free, OLED is thinner and lighter than every other display technology, allowing for the creation of unprecedented form factors such as bendable and rollable TVs. Featuring LG’s advanced OLED panel, the new G2 series models are in a class of their own. The next level in OLED’s evolution, the OLED evo technology featured in both G2 and select C2 series delivers higher brightness for ultra-realistic images with amazing clarity and detail. Powered by LG’s new α (Alpha) 9 Gen 5 intelligent processor,2 the company’s Brightness BoosterTM technology enables G2 series TVs to deliver even more brightness through improved heat dissipation and a more advanced algorithm.3 LG’s 2022 G2 series introduces a new 83-inch model and the world’s first 97-inch OLED model to complement the 55-, 65- and 77-inch TVs already in the lineup. The LG G2 series delivers a refined design with its attractive flush-to-the-wall Gallery Design. LG’s C2 series offers the most diverse selection of screen sizes with a total of six for 2022: world’s first 42-inch OLED TV, ideal for console and PC gaming, in addition to 48, 55, 65, 77, 83 inches. This OLED TV series features thinner bezels for a more immersive viewing experience in addition to giving the TV a sleeker design. Faster and Smarter At the heart of most of LG’s new TV models, the α 9 Gen 5 leverages deep learning to enhance upscaling performance and give onscreen images a more three-dimensional quality by making foreground and background elements more distinct from one another. The α9 Gen 5 also expands the capabilities of LG’s AI Sound Pro feature to provide viewers with more lifelike audio; enabling the TVs’ built-in speakers to produce virtual 7.1.2 surround sound. Upgraded UX The latest version of LG’s innovative Smart TV platform brings the user experience to life on LG’s new TVs, delivering maximum convenience and easier content discovery. webOS 22 introduces personal profiles so users can enjoy a more customized viewing experience. Under each profile, users can set up fast access to their favorite streaming services, get tailored content recommendations based on viewing history and receive real time alerts to keep up with favorite sports teams. Logging into profiles can be performed either from the TV browser or from a smartphone with NFC Magic Tap. NFC Magic Tap can also be used to mirror a mobile device screen to an LG TV.4 Viewers can also mirror content from one TV to another in the home using Room To Room Share, which enables the viewing of cable or satellite content on another TV via Wi-Fi without an additional set-top-box.5 Also new for 2022, Always Ready turns an LG TV into a media display when not in use. Easily set up in the SETTINGS menu, Always Ready is activated with a press of the power button on the LG Remote to transform the screen into a digital canvas for showcasing artwork, keeping track of time or playing music.6 What’s more, upgrading ThinQ AI will allow LG’s 2022 TVs to become true smart home hubs. In addition to providing users with effortless voice control, and compatibility with other ThinQ-powered devices, ThinQ AI now offers support for Matter, a new industry standard for a more secure and seamlessly connected smart home, which will allow LG TVs to work as a controller for connected devices.7 Outstanding Picture Quality Acknowledged by consumers, tech experts and the biggest names in the film industry, LG OLED TVs continue to raise the bar for picture quality. The panels found in the 2022 OLED lineups have been certified by global product testing agency Intertek for 100 percent color fidelity and 100 percent color volume. LG OLED TVs are unique in their ability to match the colors in the original source content and express all colors accurately regardless of how bright or dark the displayed images may be.8 All 2022 LG OLEDs are certified flicker-free by both TÜV Rheinland and Underwriters Laboratories, and glare-free by UL. LG’s OLED panels have also been recognized by TÜV Rheinland for their low blue light performance and are the first in the world that meet the low blue light emission requirement of Eyesafe, a U.S.-based health standards agency. And not only do LG TVs make it easier for creators to appreciate their accuracy, they also make it easier for customers to see movies as their creators intended as they were the first in 2021 to offer auto switching to Filmmaker Mode when enjoying Amazon Prime Video content. Unmatched in Gaming LG OLED has claimed many gaming first titles over the years: first OLED TV to support NVIDIA G-SYNC® Compatible and first 8K OLED TV to demonstrate 8K gaming with NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards. With its 1 millisecond response time, low input lag and up to four HDMI ports supporting multiple HDMI 2.1 features, it’s no surprise that LG OLED is the ideal choice for console and PC gaming fans. And with support for NVIDIA GeForce NOW and Google Stadia cloud gaming platforms, gamers can start having fun by just connecting a compatible controller. New for 2022, LG customers can easily select and switch between game-specific features and display presets directly from the TV’s Game Optimizer menu. The Game Optimizer menu provides quick access to the new Dark Room Mode, which adjusts screen brightness for a better gaming experience when the lights are off. Settings for G-SYNC® Compatible, FreeSync Premium and variable refresh rate (VRR) are easily accessible from Game Optimizer. What’s more, a new sports mode joins presets for first-person shooter, role-playing and real-time strategy games, delivering more details for even more realism. LG QNED Mini LED Demonstrating its continuing leadership in the LCD TV space, LG is also unveiling an expanded QNED TV lineup for 2022. Boasting LG’s own Quantum Dot NanoCell technology, the fresh range offers stellar color reproduction with 100 percent color volume. Able to deliver rich, accurate colors in the brightest and darkest areas of a scene, LG QNED Mini LED TV is capable of amazing contrast thanks to LG’s Precision Dimming Technology. All models starting from the QNED90eries are certified for 100% color consistency so viewers see the same, high quality image every time, even at different viewing angles.9 Interactive Experience In 2022, LG is also redefining the role of TV with the addition of new services that facilitate more personal and interactive experiences at home. LIVENow – The award-winning LIVENow app offers access to online live concerts, shows, sports and other premium live events that users can actively participate in as well as watch. With LIVENow, LG TV becomes a gateway to new virtual experiences, offering the ability to enjoy concerts with friends and family and with fans from all over the world. 1M HomeDance – For those who want to dance like their favorite K-Pop idols, LG TV presents the 1M HomeDance app. Created in collaboration with 1MILLION Dance Studio, one of K-Pop’s most popular choreography teams, the app provides a wide selection of tutorials to help users perfect their moves. Users can check out their form with Camera Mode while dancing along with 1MILLION’s professional choreographers, or take a break, sit back, and watch their favorite dance clips. Users can find the ideal workout plan based on the system’s recommendations or create their own by choosing from a variety of options such as fast-paced HIIT, full-body stretching or guided meditation, among others, keeping track of their activity and progress on the app’s dashboard. Independa – And with the arrival of Independa, LG’s TVs can even help users care for family members remotely or assist seniors to be more independent. As the first tele-healthcare service supported on LG TVs, Independa features an intuitive interface that makes it easy for users to initiate a video chat with a caregiver or easily access a menu of relevant professional services. Presenting Solutions for a More Inclusive, Sustainable, Connected Future LAS VEGAS, Jan. 2, 2022 — At CES 2022, LG Electronics (LG) is presenting its vision for an enhanced lifestyle and a better future for all. Hosted by LG CEO William Cho, LG World Premiere will introduce the company’s diverse innovations for the new year and detailed its continuing efforts to create a more inclusive user experience and sustainable tomorrow. LG’s theme for CES 2022, The Better Life You Deserve, emphasizes LG’s ultimate goal to elevate all aspects of daily life though technological and design innovation. This vision is brought to life through three short films: A Better Life for You, A Better Life for All and A Better Life Tomorrow. A Better Life for You: Creating Value for Every Lifestyle LG’s concept of the upgradable appliance is the focus of the first short film, A Better Life for You. With enhanced abilities to learn and evolve to better meet the needs of users’ individual lifestyles, LG’s upgraded ThinQ platform empowers compatible products with even more features to deliver additional conveniences in 2022. A Better Life for You shows how advancements in LG’s entertainment solutions are delivering a more personalized, interactive experience to viewers enjoying content on larger screens at home. Audiences will be introduced to LG StanbyME, a wireless private mobile wireless display that goes anywhere in the house to deliver the ultimate viewing experience of a traditional TV. Also making their worldwide debut, LG PuriCare AeroTower is an all-in-one home air care solution designed to deliver the benefits of an air purifier, fan and heater while the LG tiiun indoor gardening appliance offers a simple, clean and reliable way to grow healthy greens all year round. A Better Life for All: More Sustainable, More Inclusive LG’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact and making its business more sustainable is the focus of A Better Life for All. Energy saving innovations built into InstaView® refrigerator and its “knock twice to see inside” transparent door, the increased use of recycled materials in packaging materials of LG Soundbar and the reduction of plastic components in LG OLED TVs all point to LG’s commitment to finding solutions that are better for people and the planet. Beyond 2022, LG expects to introduce more than 600,000 tons of recycled plastic into its manufacturing processes and increase the recovery of electronic waste to eight million tons by 2030. Inclusiveness is also key to LG’s growth as a brand and toward this goal, LG is committed to investing in Accessibility Advisory Councils across different markets. Councils are comprised of accessibility experts and those living with disabilities and play a critical role in advising LG as it develops products with more inclusive user experience in mind, such as voice commands and Braille labeling. To encourage innovation in the areas of sustainability and inclusivity in 2022, LG is establishing the LIFE’S GOOD AWARD focusing on Innovation for Earth and Innovation for All to solicit ideas to minimize the impact of human activities on the environment and make LG products more accessible and user-friendly. Up to USD 1 million will be awarded to winning participants, more details to be announced in the year ahead. A Better Life Tomorrow: Blueprint for the Future The third and final short feature focuses on the future and LG’s role in turning the stuff of science fiction into reality, with the company’s AI-powered CLOi door-to-door delivery robot being readied to roll into service. Audiences are also treated to a behind the scenes look as LG’s virtual artist Reah rehearses for her upcoming music video. Designed to function as a home office, an entertainment center or even a lounge, LG OMNIPOD offers a look at how a busy individual might be able to get more done in a future where working remotely doesn’t mean having to work from home. Featuring the company’s core cooking technologies, these premium appliances are the first to offer seamless integration with the new LG ThinQ Recipe service.1 Double Oven Range features LG InstaView technology that lets users see inside an appliance by simply knocking twice on the glass, illuminating the interior without having to open the door and letting hot air escape. 12. Boasting Accurate Color Reproduction and Outstanding HDR Performance, Newest Displays Are Ideal for Editing High-Resolution Images and Videos SEOUL, Dec. 17, 2021 — LG Electronics (LG) is once again setting higher expectations for professional-grade display solutions with the announcement of its 2022 LG UltraFineTM OLED Pro monitors (models 32BP95E, 27BP95E). Delivering the advantages of OLED’s self-lit pixels to the desktop, the monitors provide the accurate color reproduction and superb HDR and SDR performance that professional visual effects artists, video editors and other creative industry roles demand. LG’s newest 32- and 27-inch OLED Pro models boast 4K UHD resolution (3,840 x 2,160) screens with 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 99 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, making them suitable for even the most detailed digital projects. For even more color and image accuracy, the hood can be attached to prevent distracting reflections and glare from external light sources. Both UltraFine OLED Pro devices offer slim, elegant form factors and are light weight for easy relocation to different rooms and desks. 13. LG Elevates Listening Experience to New Heights While Reducing Environmental Impact Throughout Entire Product Lifecycle SEOUL, Dec. 17, 2021 — At CES 2022, LG Electronics (LG) will introduce a new lineup of audio products with diverse models offering premium performance, unique and stylish designs and exciting, new sound experiences all the while ensuring accurate, immersive sound for home cinema, music and gaming. LG’s impressive audio lineup is spearheaded by the premium LG Soundbar (model S95QR), which boasts an output of 810W and 9.1.5 channels of pure surround sound immersion as a holistic high-end audio solution. With five up-firing channels including the world’s first center up-firing speaker – three on the soundbar and two in the separate rear speakers – to improve clarity and enlarge the soundstage for the ultimate in realism. The perfect choice for movie lovers looking to elevate their home cinema experience, the LG Soundbar’s center up-firing speaker delivers clearer dialogue and makes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X content even more immersive. And with IMAX Enhanced, users can enjoy stunning three-dimensional audio when watching compatible content. LG S95QR features several key enhancements, most notably a boost in performance of the new speaker drivers, speaker chambers and subwoofer. The larger woofers deliver a more premium audio quality with deep, resonant bass emulating the immersive sound system of a cinema. For 2022, LG upgraded the wireless rear speakers of its premium soundbar setup from four channels to six, with four front/side drivers to accompany the two up-firing drivers. An improvement over other speakers in this space, the rear speakers of LG Soundbar are designed to distribute sound evenly across a wide 135-degree space, giving customers more speaker placement and angle flexibility, especially beneficial for smaller rooms. The soundbar features a more sensitive receiver that allows for more distance between the soundbar and accompanying subwoofer and rear speakers without sacrificing sound quality. With a more stable wireless connection, the LG S95QR eliminates drops or lags in audio output for distraction-free viewing and listening. Thanks to the inclusion of Meridian Audio’s Horizon technology in Music Mode, the soundbar can up-mix two channel audio to 7.1-channels for more realistic acoustic surround sound. A superb solution for gamers and music lovers, LG Soundbar features variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM), making this product a must-have for console gamers who demand that the onscreen action and the audio be in perfect sync.1 With support for high-quality music streaming services, LG’s soundbar makes listening to one’s personal playlists and favorite artists all the more pleasurable. What’s more, LG S95QR offers an intuitive user experience when working with to Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and other AI assistants. Via smart devices, owners can effortlessly control streaming music, adjust volume and change sound modes and control streaming music, using only their voice. And now with the LG WOWCAST Wi-Fi audio dongle, listeners can enjoy lossless muti-channel audio without the hassle of running an unsightly cable to the TV. 2 When connected to a compatible LG TV, LG Soundbar takes advantage of the TV’s advanced AI Sound Pro feature to make all content sound clearer and more lifelike. Cross-compatibility allows LG TV owners to use one remote to control both the TV and the soundbar. And with enhanced AI Room Calibration, model S95QR can tailor its sound output to any given space, analyzing the dimensions of the room to deliver more accurate low-frequncy audio that is calibrated for maximum accuracy. And again for 2022, the LG Soundbar lineup is designed with the environment in mind, with a lower carbon footprint throughout the entire product lifecycle. In addition to shipping in 100 percent paper packaging and using recycled plastic resin for its outer case, the new soundbar models utilize a new composite fiber material that is lighter in weight to cut carbon emissions during shipping and transporting. And due to their relatively modest power consumption, LG Soundbar products save energy during usage as well. Starting January 4 (PST), visitors to LG’s virtual CES booth can experience the latest audio innovations for today’s lifestyles. 18. Launched back in 2017, LG Spain’s Smart Green Movement aimed to plant 47 million trees across the nation – one tree for every Spaniard. When it began, the goal sounded overly ambitious but, as of this year, over 8 million trees have already been planted. Gaining momentum, this social movement gained even more global interest at the P4G Seoul Summit held in May. At this summit, Spain’s prime minister highlighted LG’s Smart Green Movement as a perfect example of how cooperation can protect the environment with the public. Just a few days earlier, the Spanish vice president visited LG Spain’s Passive House built to introduce the country’s most influential people to the Smart Green Movement. Until now, over 300 CEOs, ministers and regional presidents have walked through this connected house in Madrid, leading to several agreements to reforest many of Spain’s deserted areas. With 20 companies and several public administrations on board, deserted areas in Guadalajara, Palencia, Extremadura, Aragón and Valladolid are being revitalized with the help of a green startup company, CO2 Revolution. To maximize results and minimize environmental impact, CO2 Revolution utilizes technologies and a mix of drones, i-seeds and big data to effectively spread seeds with a better chance of germination across expansive areas. To encourage more people to participate in the movement, LG Spain brought back the age-old planting technique, ‘Nendo Dango’, which utilizes autochthonous seed balls made of clay and compost, so that children and senior citizens could make them during training sessions and plant them themselves. To date, more than 3,000 children from four towns in Madrid and Castile are creating seed balls during hour-long school lessons and then throwing them into terrains donated by city councils. The eager enthusiasm of the younger generation, who can learn and do more to have a positive impact, will be the soil for the Smart Green Movement to grow. LG Electronics plans to organize national festivities every October for coordinated reforestation with every local town hall involved. With the younger generation now leading the way, we’re well on our way to achieving our “one person, one tree” goal in Spain. Contributed by LG Spain # # # View the full article

The OLED canvases’ immaculate picture quality blur the line between the real and digital worlds, perfectly preserving the artists’ creative intentions. Part of a new generation pushing the boundaries of fine art, the talented young artists represented at the exhibit are visual innovators whose work encourages audiences to consider new perspectives and reevaluate what they know. Je Baak’s acclaimed video installation series, The Moment & Morpho Luna, comprises data-based works of art he calls “metabio art” that looks at the biological causal relationship between the metaverse space and actual space. Three LG OLED TVs – models 65R1, 65G1 and 88Z1 – serve as the medium through which Je Baak communicates the core concepts of his work. It’s because of OLED’s ability to deliver vibrant colors, infinite contrast and flexibility that Je Baak is able to create a depth of feeling and emotion that is palpable to the beholder. The Moment & Morpho Luna, Je Baak In An Incomplete Dictionary of Show Birds, noted British photographer Luke Stephenson portrays various species of birds, each capturing a specific moment in time while hinting at the tension that exists between nature and construct in his art. With exceptionally bright, sharp images, the four 77-inch LG G1 Series OLED evo TVs are able to accurately portray the dramatic colors and details that are the hallmarks of Stephenson’s work. An Incomplete Dictionary of Show Birds, Luke Stephenson London-based artist Ruofan Chen presents a set of visually-striking pieces that speak to the emotional connection humans have formed with the natural world throughout time. Central to one of her exhibited pieces, the rollable OLED TV stands stoically between precisely-arranged tree branches, juxtaposing technology with life, inviting viewers to interpret the connection between the inorganic and the organic. The Warm Tree, Ruofan Chen Thanks to the involvement of Saatchi Gallery, the exhibition also features representative pieces from some of modern art’s most celebrated practitioners such as Damien Hurst, Yayoi Kusama, Banksy and Ufan Lee. 21. It’s human nature to want to belong and to feel loved. After all, humans are social animals. Whether it’s visiting grandma’s farm every summer or the extended family gathering on dad’s birthday for the past twenty years, these events reinforce the sense of belonging and warmth that connect one generation to the next through the sharing of values and experiences. LG’s recently launched #CareForWhereYouLive campaign is all about creating warmth and a feeling of belonging through advanced LG technologies. With LG Therma V air-to-water heat pump (AWHP), for example, anyone can create a warm and comfortable environment for family gatherings no matter how cold and windy it is outside. The lead video in the heartwarming campaign begins with a elderly woman waiting patiently at her doorstep for her grandson, who is coming to stay with her. In a series of touching vignettes, we see how she cares for him as he grows from boy to teenager to man, and how she created the foundation for him to one day create a warm, loving home of his own. And when the time comes when grandmother can’t wait on her doorstep anymore, she will know that her grandson and his family will be in good hands with LG Therma V. More sustainable than conventional heat pumps, AWHP systems use advanced technology and simple physics to move outdoor air indoors and vice versa, all while using less electricity and for greater energy efficiency. LG’s AWHP solution offers reliable space heating and hot water supply all year-round, without the use of any fossil fuels. Better for the home and the planet, LG’s sustainable system minimizes electricity consumption by an incredible 75 percent by using air drawn from outside the home as a heat source.1 At up to four times more energy efficient than a traditional boiler, LG Therma V is a cost-effective heating and hot water solution for any home. Recognizing the financial and environmental benefits of AWHP systems, many European governments are now offering tax reductions and other incentives to encourage more residents to make the switch to these low-impact solutions.2 #CareForWhereYouLive is the latest in an ongoing series of LG initiatives presenting simple ways that everyone can help do their part to ensure a better tomorrow. It follows LG’s successful #CareForWhatYouWear campaign encouraging people to adopt a more sustainable approach to their wardrobe. To see how LG Therma V can help create warm, sustainable homes where families can keep cherished traditions alive – and create new rituals to pass on to future generations – please follow the link. # # # 1 Comparing LG Therma V R32 Series and Electrical Boiler under Low Temperature and Average Climate conditions. The ratio indicates general figure for understanding purpose. The result may differ depending on the actual operation and usage environments. Therma V uses 75% of natural energy absorbed from outside air and the rest of 25% comes from electricity, significantly reducing CO2 emission compared to oil or gas boilers. 2 Governmental support for homeowners switching to AWHP solutions may differ by country. 22. Despite technology playing a big part in our everyday lives, there are millions of families around the world that are unable to afford the basic tool to access such technology. In the UK alone, a 2020 report estimates that up to 1.8 million children do not have access to a computer at home. The pandemic moved us all to a more flexible and digital way of life, making technology an essential part of the education process, which means that many children across the country are at a serious disadvantage. The LG team in the UK has long been passionate about giving youth the chance to reach their full potential. So, in collaboration with ReachOut, a leading UK charity that supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds with weekly one-to-one mentoring, helping develop character, raise aspirations, and improve academic attainment, the LG UK team decided to take action. Starting with four schools across London, LG announced the Laptop Library program to support young people with free access to state-of-the-art technology and improve their digital education experience. As part of the program, LG UK donated LG gram laptops to each school and equipped them with a portable and secure store and charge solutions which students can use to book out laptops for use at school or home specifically to support one-to-one mentoring sessions. “It is incredibly tough for some students to keep up without access to proper technology,” said Kim Han-ju, IT Product Director at LG Electronics UK. “With our Laptop Library program, we hope to have a positive impact on the lives of these young people, each of whom deserves a future as bright as anyone else’s.” Around 2,600 children are set to benefit from the initiative across the four schools, with plans to expand the initiative nationwide and donate LG Laptop Libraries to more schools in 2022 and beyond. To kick off the program, England football legend and father, Emile Heskey, visited one of the schools to unveil the Laptop Library and give a motivational talk to the students on the importance of education in setting up the foundations for a bright future. “School education is so important in setting yourself up for the future, and I feel we sometimes take things like laptops for granted when there are some children that simply don’t have access,” said Emile, praising the program. “I’m really pleased to help launch this brilliant program alongside LG and ReachOut.” # # # View the full article
  23. Licenses Proprietary LTE Communications Technology to Wiko Parent Tinno Mobile SEOUL, Dec. 2, 2021 — LG Electronics (LG) has signed an agreement to license all of its LTE standard essential patents (SEP) to Tinno Mobile, the Chinese parent company of European smartphone brand Wiko. The license covers all Wiko-branded phones sold by Tinno Mobile worldwide. The recently completed arrangement is a strategic victory for LG, which filed three separate suits against Wiko in 2018 for infringing on its LTE SEPs. All cases were ruled in LG’s favor the following year, as were the two subsequent appeals filed by Wiko. The two companies were set to meet again in court this month, with LG seeking a sales ban on Wiko products in Germany, but came to an agreement three days before the new trial was set to begin. LG has made protecting its intellectual property a key component of its business strategy in the era of mobility. As part of this broad strategy LG also filed legal action against TCL in 2019 for violating its intellectual property. Ruled in favor of LG earlier this year, the court granted a ban in Germany on the sale of TCL products containing LG technologies in addition to recall and destruction of TCL devices that had already been sold. “Our agreement with Tinno Mobile is a positive outcome for all parties involved and will ultimately lead to better user experiences for consumers worldwide,” said Cho Hwi-jae, vice president and head of LG’s Intellectual Property Center.” Protecting our intellectual property is important to the many employees at LG who have invested countless hours and considerable efforts to developing the technology that improve our customers’ lives. LG is committed to licensing its standard essential patents on fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory terms for the benefit of consumers everywhere.” LG is already at work securing leadership in the next generation of mobile network technology, 6G, which is expected to be commercialized later this decade. In partnership with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea’s foremost research university, LG established the LG-KAIST 6G Research Center in 2019 and is working closely with Keysight Technologies to further enhance its 6G core capabilities. Earlier this year LG achieved a groundbreaking milestone in 6G development at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI) in Berlin with the successful transmission of wireless 6G terahertz (THz) data over a distance of more than 100 meters outdoors. # # # View the full article
