I did a refresh of my LG TV 3 days ago. Sold the old LG 47" 3D LED TV and bought new 55" LG Super UltraHD TV with WebOS. I believe, the biggest con of this new TV is WebOS. Its totally frustrating. Sorry for WebOS fans. It isn't that smart and functional they way it looks. The problem I having since 3 days and being a network engineer, I am unable to solve a network issue myself which is even more frustrating for me. Ok, let me explain the issue. The TV when installed was connected to LAN cable to my router which has direct internet connection. The TV works and none of the apps were working. Basically TV wasn't able to connect to internet via apps. If i open web browser, it was working fine with all webpages showing correctly. I'll skip the part of contacting LG support which was useless. All troubleshooting steps like resetting, formatting, changing time zone, location, region was done but no luck. Finally I connected the TV via mobile hotspot and it just worked which gave me the clue that some ports are being blocked by my ISP or router. My internet setup is this way. Internet cable from ISP -> ISP Modem (can do NAT and work as router) - WiFi Router (NAT, DHCP, etc) -> all LAN clients. I put my LG TV in DMZ, opened all ports, etc but no luck. Then I converted my ISP modem as router and connected the LG TV directly to it and it started working..!!! My WiFi Router is TP-Link Archer C7 and I was using stock firmware. Thought it was creating issues and I installed DD-WRT, Open-WRT but no luck at all. The apps which were installed in TV when TV was connected directly to modem are still working fine. Youtube, Plex, Netflix, etc all are working but when I open LG Content Store, it just refuses to load. I am not sure what wrong my TP-Link router is doing. There is something wrong with the LG TV content store. If it requires to open ports, then I would like to know which ones. Sorry for the long port, may be my frustration of 3 days with no luck.!!

webos Issues with LG TV and weird WiFi behaviour
Guest posted a question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
I recently bought a new router (Unify Dream Router) and after a couple of weeks of struggle, I managed to set it up with my ISP's VDSL connection (FFTC) using a third party modem in bridge mode (NETGEAR D6400). Everything seemed to be working fine until I realised I couldn't open the Netflix app on my LG Smart TV. After a bit of investigation, I realised nothing except for YouTube and the Browser was working. Just to make this clear: the WiFi connects fine, I can access all websites through the LG Browser, and I have no issues with YouTube, but nothing else works. All the regular streaming apps fail to open and, most importantly, the LG Content Store fails to load. Before I fixed my network, the tv was working fine. If I switch to my phone's hotspot, everything works fine. Things that I've tried: factory resetting the tv leaving the tv unplugged to delete cache using google's DNS on the TV using a wired connection Having said so, I am so lost that I would be happy to try anything again. -
Hi I have an OLED A2 48” 4k, which doesn’t have an aerial but is connected to WiFi. All the streaming services are working fine, but my understanding (From Freeview website) is that the TV guide should be populated with a live Freeview TV schedule that , if you click on a live broadcast, opens it up in the relevant app. E.g. BBC, ITVX, 4 etc. There are a couple of BBC IP channels showing, which play without opening the apps but nothing else. Any ideas? I have the Freeview App on my phone which does exactly what I was expecting above.

How to get my LG tv to stay connected to Wi-Fi
T Howell posted a question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
How to get my LG tv to stay connected to Wi-Fi? It’s my newest tv in the home, central location. Main room of house and the only device that won’t stay connected. I’ve googled just about every fix . Unplugged, reset , reset Wi-Fi, changed location , time zone then changed it back . Please help ! Thank you ! -
Hi everyone. I have a LG 49U67V TV. I updated my internet connection to fiber 100Mbps. My new router uses both 2.4 & 5.0GHz frequencies. With my mobile phone I check my Internet speed with fast.com and it is 100Mbps. My TV connected also via WiFi in the same network can't reach with fast.com more than 12Mbps. What is the problem? Does my TV not support higher speeds? If I change the router settings to transmit only in the 2.4GHz frequency, would something change? Would I loose speed in other devices such us my laptop and phones? No can't connect via cable to the router. And I'm afraid to pay 50€ or more for a power connection I tried something else. I connected my tplink WiFi range extender and then via ethernet cable my TV to this range extender. The problem here is that also the range extender can't reach more than 15 Mbps of speed. I tried to conect my phone to the extender and the result was the same the extender did not achieve more than 15Mbps in fast.com. So the extender had also issues achieving the speed of the ne router

For those who get frequent WiFi connection drop-outs, I picked this bit of useful info from another forum. Note that this may well apply to many other LG models than the C9, as they often use common WiFi internal cards/modules: "Network/Ethernet/Wi-Fi Problem: C9 [or other models] will lose the wireless connection and you have to reconnect daily (but wired is stable); Conditions: TV is connected to a 5GHz router; Cause: (1) the router may be unstable on the 5GHz band [possibly too far from router]; (2) the router has the 5GHz band set on a higher channel - over 100; Resolution: (1) change the TV to the 2.4GHz band (2) set the channel [in the ROUTER advanced WiFi settings]!! for the 5GHz band below 100 (ex. 40-50) - [channel 36 is often OK]."

I am in the process of moving my WiFi to a 4G carrier. I was testing the 4G modem and needed to move back to the Broadband modem for a day - I found that the BB password was not kept on the LGWEBOS TV. Similarly when I moved back to the $G modem I had to re-enter that. This TV is the only device that I have which does not remember passwords Is there a way of placing a support ticket for a change to the OS

LG 55UF6450-UA won't connect to Wi-Fi network.
cali086 posted a question in LG webOS Smart TV Questions
Hi, I have an LG WebOS Smart TV that after the last firmware update the Wi-Fi Connection stop working properly. When I try to connect to my network, it will instantly disconnect or it will freeze my TV. Model: LG 55UF6450-UA (bought it on November 2015) Firmware: 03.16.00 Also, I don't know if it is relevant but my TV is a US version that now I have it with me in Costa Rica, Central America. I've tried everything posted on the internet and forums: - Connecting to my cellphones hotspot (worked for about 5 min the first time I try it and then stop working and would work again when I tried to reconnect). - Change the DNS to google's DNS. (Once I was able to do it but didn't fix the issue, and also first I need to be able to connect to a network for the TV to enable the option for changing manually to static ip's). - Doing factory reset won't fix it. - Changing the Country/Region/Time zone won't fix it. - Changing to manual time won't fix it. - Can't do the downgrade procedure posted on this forum for two reasons: because you need to be able to connect to the wifi or via ethernet and it isn't working, and also I can't find an older versión of my firmware. I am pretty sure that I need to downgrade or even just do a fresh installation of the actual the firmware, but I can't find the right way to do it. Maybe with an LG service remote? but again, I need to first get on my hands a working firmware version for my TV right? Any recommendations?- 6 replies

I have an LG 43UK6300PLB TV, connected via Wifi to my home network. Now, this may be an abnormal setup, so i get it may be unique, but i have two main wifi hotspots in my home. One from my BT Smart Hub, but i also have a pair of TP-Link Deco P9's running in Access Point mode to offer wider wifi coverage in a mesh setup. I'd obviously prefer for the TV to connect to the P9 Network as the nearest AP is nearer to the TV that he BT one, but when i do the LG Smart App for some reason cannot see the TV, which it should as the Mesh network is running in AP mode (so alongside the BT DHCP). Can anyone provide any tips?

I'm trying to open up a web browser on our new 43UM750 OPLA set. On this webos site the instructions are clear "To open the web browser click on the home button on the remote, and select the button on the screen that appears as 3 diagonal dashes" they start. But when I push my home button, there is no sign of those three dashes. What am I doing wrong? Or are those instructions out of date? Or is there something not mentioned there that I need to do to make those three dashes appear?

Hi. I am having some issues with wifi connectivity on my TV. Anything in the 1 tier of 5ghz channels I get proper speeds. But anything in the tier 2 or 3 gives me awful speeds. I have tested with multiple routers and accesspoints and the problem is the same on all of them. The only channels on the 5ghz band that give good speeds are tier 1 (34-64) Any firmware update planned ?
