While every webOS device comes with some kind of speaker, the TouchPad is the only one whose speaker is adequate to fill a (smallish) room. On the phones, even the rear speaker struggles to put out enough volume to allow sharing of music or other audio in a space with moderate or higher background noise. Given that webOS phones all support both standard 3.5mm headphone/speaker jacks (the Veer admittedly needing an adapter) and Bluetooth speakers, there are numerous options for boosting the sound so others can enjoy it too. Unfortunately, most of those external speakers are far less portable than the phone itself. There are, though, some speakers that offer both powered amplification and portability. One of these is the Naztech N15 3.55 Mini Boom Speaker, which additionally operates as a standalone MP3/WMA player (it accepts microSD cards as removable storage, and has minimal controls for music playback and track navigation). While the Naztech's design and standalone player capabilities are pluses, however, its minimal amplification power makes it a poor choice for webOS devices.
Naztech has done a nice job with the design of the N15. It folds to the size and shape of a flattened golf ball, with a recess for storing the non-removable (and very short at 2-3 inches) 3.5mm audio cable. Along the periphery of the speaker are the standalone music player controls, a miniUSB (not microUSB, unfortunately, meaning it cannot share charger cables with a webOS device) port, and the microSD slot. The play/pause button doubles as the power button for the speaker, and a blue LED lights up when the unit is powered on. Note that although the track forward and reverse buttons double as volume controls for standalone play, they do not affect volume when the N15 is connected to an external sound source. According to Naztech, the N15 provides 2 watts of speaker output, and its 3.7 volt lithium ion battery charges (via a powered USB port or charger) in 4 hours. Naztech does not provide any play time details, and our testing did not extend to battery life.

This tip is only for devices running webOS 2.x
One of the most frequently requested features for webOS phones has to be the ability to simultaneously activate your Palm Profile on multiple devices and swap between phones as necessary. This ability was added to webOS 3.0 on the TouchPad, but does not exist for webOS phones. So, if you were ever to activate an existing Profile on a second webOS phone, it will send a wipe command to the original phone and you need to re-activate it from scratch when you want to return to that first phone. You can use some homebrew trickery to

Having to perform a full activation of the device is not a good answer. Thanks to the geniuses as WebOS Internals, you can use those steps mentioned above to prevent your device from being wiped, and then extende it to activate your Profile on multiple devices without requiring the need to erase and re-setup your phones each time you need to swap. It may not be the most elegant solution, but it works, albeit with a few caveats that you should review below. In order to swap profiles between devices, you will need to have the homebrew app installed on your device and take advantage of two previous PreCentral tips: and the aforementioned . Continue after the break for directions on how to set up your devices and swap your profile between them.

link hidden, please login to view, by Hedami Software, is a significant upgrade over the stock music play for either webOS phones or the TouchPad. While the TouchPad player has some additional features, such as the ability to , Music Player (Remix) has a lot more. One such feature is the ability to create favorites that show up on the app's homepage for quick access. These favorites can point to a single song, an entire album, an artist, a genre or even a playlist. Whenever you see an icon, that means you can pin that selection to your homescreen. All you need to do is tap that icon to access a pop-up menu and choose "Fave it!". A banner notification will appear confirming the selection, and then all you need to do is tap on that favorite on the homescreen the next time you want to play the song or songs. If you want to add only a portion of an album or artist or genre, the best way to do that is to select "Add to a flylist" instead of "Fave it!" to create a playlist with all the songs you want. Then back on the homepage, select "Flylists" from the choices on the right and then select the playlist. You can specific songs or to get just the way you want it. Then, you can choose to favorite that Flylist from the Flylist listing..
Want to delete or reorder your favorites on your homescreen? It works the same as updating a flylist. Just the items you don’t want, or .

A good web address is a hard thing to come across. That's a lesson we learned when we were
link hidden, please login to view when we realized that PreCentral just wasn't going to cut it anymore; webOS.com is owned by HyperOffice (the true cloud and mobile operating system), webOScentral.com is owned by HP (who weren't willing to consider transferring the domain to us), and others. Thankfully, we were able to secure webOSnation.com and that's where we are now (and not planning a Gram-related rebrand anytime soon). So with the recent revelation that , we pondered about and tried to figure out what website they'd go with. Gram.com is being squatted upon (money grams, instagrams, and weighting, it seems), as is gram.org (buy gold now!), gram.net is somebody's website filled with baby pictures, and so forth. So HP thought outside the box for their domain registration for Gram and turned to Armenia's top-level domain and got their website: gr.am
There's nothing at gr.am right now, nor would we expect there to be, considering that HP hadn't planned to unveil the new name and company just yet. So sit tight, keep your eyes on webOSnation.com and gr.am for whatever they announce whenever they announce it.
