Latest DUALCOOL Model Boasts Sophisticated Design, Company’s DUAL Vane
System and the Comfort-Enhancing Soft Air Feature

LG-New-DUALCOOL-residential-air-Conditio

SEOUL, Mar. 7, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) is revealing its efficient, new DUALCOOL™ residential air conditioner at MCE 2024 – one of Europe’s biggest heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) exhibitions – in Milan, Italy, from March 12-15. Leveraging LG’s latest air conditioning technologies, including the comfort-enhancing Soft Air™ function, the new DUALCOOL provides a year-round pleasant indoor environment.

With its sophisticated ‘interior fit’ design and refined matte finish, the latest LG DUALCOOL air conditioner is a stylish addition to the home. The advanced, new model integrates a dual outlet structure that delivers fast, optimized temperature control and gentle, indirect airflow that won’t leave users feeling chilly. Equipped with the efficient and reliable Dual Inverter Heat Pump Compressor™, LG’s innovative air conditioner performs reliably in any season and boasts an EU energy efficiency rating of A+++.1

Comfortable Air Flow
The air conditioner’s Soft Air function, created in response to consumer feedback, lets users enjoy customized cooling and a soothing, indirect breeze. When the function is activated, the lower vane closes so that air is discharged through the front-facing outlet only. Rather than being directed at sitting or standing height, the airflow moves downward from the ceiling for a gentler, more refreshing cooling experience.

Incorporating the innovative DUAL Vane™ system, the LG DUALCOOL air conditioner sends warm or cool air in multiple directions to deliver fast, effective temperature control. Its two independent vanes help extend airflow range to an impressive 22 meters; a 22 percent increase compared to previous models. It also outperforms single-vane solutions by up to 23 percent in cooling and 6 percent in heating.2 Moreover, the new air conditioner prioritizes user comfort with its effective airflow delivery method: channeling air upward and outward from above head-height when cooling, and sending airflow down toward the floor when heating.

The latest DUALCOOL model also employs the company’s Human Detection Sensor™, which detects the distance between the air conditioner and the room’s occupant(s) and changes airflow mode (direct or indirect) accordingly. Users can adjust the sensor’s settings so that, based on their proximity to the indoor unit, the DUALCOOL will produce either direct, indirect or strong airflow.

Proactive Energy-Saving
With energy prices in the EU continuing to rise, customers across Europe are increasingly prioritizing efficiency when seeking new HVAC solutions for the home. Equipped with the Dual Inverter Heat Pump Compressor, as well as various smart energy management features, the DUALCOOL air conditioner can help lower the cost of household climate control. Achieving an A+++ European Energy-related Product (ErP) rating, the new model offers year-around efficiency with a 9.5 Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) in cooling operation and 5.1 Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) in heating.1

DUALCOOL users can save energy by setting up electricity-usage target with the kW Manager™. Through the ThinQ™ app, it makes it possible to monitor energy consumption in real time and can alert the user if the target they’ve established has been exceeded. Through regularly monitoring electricity usage and analyzing operating information, the kW Manager is able to determine the most energy-efficient range of operation for a variety of different scenarios.

Offering another way to help reduce running costs, the DUALCOOL’s Human Detecting Sensor automatically puts the air conditioner in energy-saving mode if no one is detected in the room. Meanwhile, the Window Open Detecting feature can prevent energy waste as well, activating energy-saving mode if the temperature in the room suddenly rises or falls.

Easy and Convenient Indoor Unit Care
The convenient Auto Cleaning™ feature automatically dries the DUALCOOL’s interior, boosting hygiene by removing any moisture and preventing mold from forming. Helping to maintain cleanliness inside the air conditioner during the colder months of the year, the Freeze Cleaning™ feature defrosts the heat exchanger to effectively wash away bacteria, dust, debris and odor-causing contaminants.3

“Our latest LG DUALCOOL residential air conditioner is designed to provide optimal indoor comfort in all seasons,” said James Lee, head of the Air Solution Business Unit of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “LG is committed to setting new standards in home climate control and will continuously introduce high-efficiency and environmentally-friendly HVAC innovations.”

Visitors to MCE 2024 from March 12-15 can experience all of LG’s latest HVAC solutions, including the new LG DUALCOOL, at the company’s booth (#U28/Z16, Hall 5, Fiera Milano).

The new LG DUALCOOL air conditioner is set to launch in Italy on April, with availability in other EU countries.

Simplifying Complex Driving With Intuitive Navigation Guidance

SEOUL, Nov. 6, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) has been awarded the prestigious “King Sejong Award” at the 2024 Technology Patent Awards for its pioneering augmented reality (AR) technology designed for vehicles. This annual event, organized by the Korean Intellectual Property Office, recognizes patents registered within the past decade that contribute to enhancing South Korea’s industrial competitiveness.
The patent for LG’s advanced vehicle AR technology was submitted both domestically and internationally in 2022. This innovative system aims to improve the future mobility experience by leveraging AR to visualize various driving scenarios. It generates 3D graphics that provide vehicle information and navigation guidance on in-vehicle displays.
Driving can often be confusing, especially on complex roads or unfamiliar routes, where estimating distances or directions becomes challenging. LG’s in-vehicle AR technology alleviates this confusion by providing clear guidance lines that drivers can easily follow. The system employs sophisticated algorithms to integrate data from various vehicle sensors, including smart cameras, navigation systems and driver assistance sensors, along with external data sources. By harnessing information from GPS, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technologies, the system can predict potential hazards and accident risks based on the vehicle’s location and surrounding environment, thereby enhancing safety during journeys.
A key feature of LG’s patented technology is its ability to display dynamic AR images. This capability makes route guidance more intuitive by adjusting the symbols representing the vehicle and directional guidance – such as combining a spade and chevron into an arrow shape or separating them – based on real-time driving conditions. The AR graphics can seamlessly separate, transform and merge, allowing the system to visually convey complex driving information, such as speed, incline, lane changes and route recalculations, in a manner that can be easily understood by the driver.
LG plans to leverage this advanced vehicle AR technology to develop future mobility solutions for global automakers and accelerate the development of new mobility software. The company also aims to generate royalty-based revenue from the patent.
“LG is excited to utilize its award-winning AR technology to create mobility solutions that elevate driver convenience and contribute to safer roads for everyone,” said Kim Dong-wook, head of the B2B Advanced Technology Center at LG Electronics. “Moving forward, we will continue to refine our AR technology to ensure compatibility across all vehicle platforms. We anticipate that this exciting innovation will significantly contribute to the growth of our software business.”

    • Solution For That Pollution

I purchased an LG 86" UT8050 4K UHD LED Smart TV (2024) from JBHIFI in Australia. The TV was wall-mounted and set up by a local installer. I discovered that my TV has Chromecast built-in. I tried casting music from Roon, but Chrome immediately crashed and the TV shutdown. I tried again and the audio was distorted. I shut down and tried again and the audio stuttered. I tried Chromecasting with Qobuz and Plex and got the same result on audio playing out to my Yamaha RX-V6A and the TV speakers. I then tried to play audio from the Plex App in the LG WebOS. That played fine, without any distortion.
Thinking this might have been a result of a hurried setup (the installer did this job "on the run" I reset the TV to factory defaults and set it up again. Everything went smoothly. But the problem with Chromecast persists. First time launching Chromecast the app crashed and the TV shutdown. 2nd try I got distorted audio to the receiver and to the TV speakers. Audio and Video are fine on all other apps. I can see no other faults.
I've been Googling this and not seeing much info other than a few threads where people are saying that the LG built-in Chromecast feature does not work. I saw that one person returned his TV and the replacement had the same issue with built-in Chromecast. Most discussions on this issue are hijacked by people using a Chromecast streamer or dongle as opposed to the built-in Chromecast. They often talk about turning off this or that specific Chromecast setting, settings that are not accessible with a TV with built in Chromecast
In the WebOs when I look at connected source devices Chromecast is there with a "Chromecast Settings" option. The settings have only one option and that is opt-in on sending crash data to Google. Apparently, Google is not monitoring the issue very closely.
I listen to mostly Hi-Res audio. I wonder if the issue is caused by the bitrate of 24-bit Hi Res flac files. I did notice that when I cast audio that was CD quality (16-bit), the distortion did not occur. This is weird though because in the past I have been able to cast 24-bit audio to Chromecast-enabled devices without any problems.
My TV says my firmware is up to date. I did not see a prompt to install a firmware update during setup. I've set software and app updates to be automatic.
Appreciate any help or even a "Hey, it's not just you, this is a known issue, I've got this problem too".
