Sky News stopped working after the webOS update

webOS updated, I think to 2023, on my C2 a couple of days ago. Since then the News option on the Sky News app no longer works, instead timing out. The Weather and Climate options still work, though.

I have deleted and reloaded the Sky News app, but the problem remains.

Does anybody have any suggestions of what I might try to get this working again, or is this something for LG, or Sky, to fix?

Same issue here, tried the same steps.

It's still possible to watch via YouTube (bonus feature being the rewind function)

It started working again, but has now gone back to timing out. 

My troubleshooting steps consist of shrugging and switching to broadcast 233.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Started to work again for a while, and then stopped again, as above. Still just the News option, which times out; all the other options on the app work fine. 
 

And just my C2 from 2022, bought in 2023, is affected. My 2020 GX and my 2021 Nano-somethingorother work fine with News on this Sky News app.

I've noticed this also.  Bets bet is to buy a cheap Android/Google TV box and connect to TV via HDMI.

The Android apps don't have this kind of issues and work fine

The app works perfectly on my expensive AppleTV box plugged into one of the TV’s HDMI ports 😛

But once you have started the Apple TV, it’s an absolute bugger to get it to let go of the TV and yet still leave it switched on 😢

So my preferred workaround Is terrestrial 233.

On my LG TV, if I want to switch from the Android box, I just select another input using the TV remote.

eg.  One of the TV's built-in apps, the tuner, another HDMI input, etc, etc.

Yes, I can do that, but the Apple box just sits there, still on. Any attempt to turn it off with its On/Off button, either turns it on again, or it does turn off, but the TV with it.

After which, when I turn the TV on again, it comes up on the Apple TV, not what I left it on.

If I CBA, I’d ask on an Apple forum how to avoid this, I suppose.

I noticed if I'm watching any of the LG's built in channels and then turn off the TV, the TV will always start up again on HDMI,

whether the external device is on or not.

If I have the TV set to "Live TV" (the tuner), and turn the TV off/on, it will start up at the Live TV.

I don't think you can change this behavior.

Regarding your AppleTV box, can't you turn it off (or put it to standby) by its remote control?

There a probably a setting in the TV that controls whether the TV should turn off when an HDMI device turns off,

but I've never seen this in mine (2017 uj series)

Its an absolute joke with no answer from LG.  Last time I buy any LG equipment based on the experience.

Web OS update totally screwed it.

Would be helpful if someone from LG actually responded...

Hi I've just moved over to LG from Samsung and purchased 2 * OLED65G46LS TV's. Both have a wired ethernet connections directly to a 500mb/ps fibre Internet connection. 

However I have the same problem only with the sky news app....in that it continually times out. I've contacted LG - waiting for a response.

The Sky app is now working on my C2 after the last WebOS update. However, the Now and Paramount apps have started giving crackling audio issues.
 

BBC iPlayer is fine, though, and no problem with these two apps on my AppleTV in HDMI 1.

I need to investigate further….
