Confused over startpicture on my TV-set

After the latest update, I'm not happy with how the TV behaves when I turn it on.
1) When I turn off the TV with on/off on the remote control firts and after that disconnect the power, the TV starts up at newstart with the last seen program, the remote control does not work. It goes after a while into black and  restarts than with this image.

2) If I turn it off instead by unplugging the power first, it boots up with last viewed program and the remote works as usual.

Is it possible to go back to the previous update or where/how can I influence what appearance my TV picture should have when I start the it? I want my TV to start (preferably) with the previous program, but in any case so that the remote control works immediately.

try settings/general/quick start.

What ever it is set to, try the other setting

Thanks, davexnet, for a nice try. However, a change there did not help.
Instead, I found the following in the manual:
The home screen will appear automatically when the TV is turned on. If you don't want the home screen to appear, go to Settings > General > Additional settings > Home settings to Off.
So I did and my quoted wish was fulfilled. 😀 However, I have lost the ability to select apps. 🤥

The search for the perfect solution continues.

To select Apps, press the home button on the remote and they should appear

. Now I have the groundversion of the homescreen when i press the Home-button. Thank you, davexnet, you have taught me more in a few hours than I did by myself since I bought the TV for several years ago.
