TV OLED LG 65C3 randomly shutdown

Hi everyone,

 

Since the last OS SW update for webOS 23.2050 for my OLED LG TV 65C3 I have noticed a weird problem where the TV randomly shuts down by itself while watching TV, Netflix, YouTube … I couldn’t find a pattern when and how this happens it seems to behave like this randomly. I

t’s like.a SW crash behaviour memory leak or something (just an assumption).

I mention this is not the energy saving auto power off feature.

Have you guys encountered such issue?

Hello Dinoc, I am also a user of a LG C3 65OLEDC3. I have recently upgraded to 23.20.50 like you. Everything is working fine. Except that sometimes there are some short interruptions on different streaming platforms like Netflix or Fubo or even Youtube. BUT the TV is not rebooting. The worse is that recently I got a kind of 30 secondes retro feedback on Netflix and Apple TV (I mean, I was looking at the TV when suddenly it went back to 1mn ago in a series). No SW crash, no rebbot ... Could i be a fiber issue ?

Information about the reasons for turning off the TV (due to problems with the equipment or a normal shutdown with the remote control) is stored in the logs of the TV service menu. You can look there and evaluate what causes the shutdown. The decoding of the codes is here:

Hi, Vladimir,

 

So I need a special remote to enter the service menu? I only have the LG Magic remote (I don't see any in-start button there).

Hello I am having simmilar issue with LG Oled 65 C4, I bought it two days ago, and it just freezes and restarts tv after about 10 min of watching Netflix or MAX ( some times after 20 min, sometimes after 6-7 min )

did you resolve this issue ? Can it be fixed?

Hi BozaB, did you also upgrade to a recent webOS version just after the C4 installation ? You can check that in the setting (wheel) menu from the magic remote. You can also see if you have notifications to ask you some actions (like updates).  I suggest that you update to the latest version that you can (for the c3, this is the 23.20.50). I don’t have it for the C4 … Also, I only have 2 devices connected to my LG Tv (a box and a sound system). I suggest that you disconnect some of these devices (one by one) and check if you still have the issue.

I haven't resolved the issue, the local service support asked me to reset it to default and monitor, did it but it does the same thing, randomly resets itself while watching Netflix, Max or Youtube.

I tried the service menu but I couldn't understand it was not able to see the reason for reset.

Yes I updated to latest update, unfortunately after few days of trying everything I can think off, I called customer support, and it turned out if you believe it or not, I bought new tv with factory broken motherboard.. Thank you for the help.

I contacted the local LG service center and they changed the motherboard for the TV (under warranty), hopefully the new one will work fine.

      We have a 65" G1 OLED set. Lately (like the past couple of months), at irregular intervals while the set is on, it will power itself down without any input from the remote. Happens maybe once every two or three days. Powering it on again using the remote always brings it back to life OK. Unsure whether this is a hardware or software problem, and can't see how I could determine whether it's one or the other. Any suggestions? The TV is current with whatever the lastest level of FW is - I just checked in settings and was told there were no updates available.

      LG OLED TVs excel in these rigorous assessments due to their self-emissive technology, which eliminates the need for a backlight, reducing component count and overall material use. Furthermore, LG OLED TVs incorporate ultra-light composite fiber materials, reducing weight and plastic use. For example, LG’s 65-inch OLED evo TV is 20 percent lighter than conventional LCD TVs of the same size and uses 60 percent less plastic.

      Up until a few days ago my TV and AVR have been working perfectly since I bought it.
      Zero hassles with HDMI and connectivity.
      Then I was prompted to update to the latest software version which I did and now often when I switch HDMI (running on 1) it picks up the device name, CEC works but I get “No Signal”… and then nothing.
      Just stays on “No Signal”. It is almost as if some HDMI handshake breaks and now the driver is in a broken state.
      I’ve found that if I hard power off and power on the device sometimes works but I don’t want to do that every time especially since it’s hard to get to the power.
      This really strikes me as a software issue with the latest update as absolutely nothing else has changed in my setup.
      I’ve tried:
      Different HDMI cables (high quality) Deep colour settings Reset the TV to factory default Different HDMI ports TV
      Model: OLED65G26LA / OLED65G26LA.HFBQLWK WebOS TV Version: 8.3.0.2301 Software Version: 13.30.56 AVR & Devices
      Marantz SR5015 Nvidia Shield Pro PS5
        The setup is the conventional AVR installation as shown in the attached file

       
      Has anyone else experienced this? 
      Is it possible to revert the software update?

      I have owned a couple of LG TV’s over the last 8 years, with the current one being a high-end 77” model.
      I am still using LG TV SmartShare (v.33) as my “Media Player” v2.3.1511.1201 for my PC– which was last updated in 2015 but it is still compatible today.  As proof, my latest TV is now 11 months old and I have had zero issue (until you see below).    
      link hidden, please login to view My PC setup is: Windows 10 Pro (with all latest updates) and a TP-Link Archer BE19000 (BE805) router.    NOTHING has been changed on my router, TV (no updated or changed firmware) or any equipment moved around in the last 4 months.
      Up until about 3 weeks ago, everything ran just fine.  The SmartShare program was always defaulted to have Sharing ON, upon start of it, which is always when Windows boots).  However, about 3 weeks ago, the SmartShare PC program has started to randomly change its status to Sharing OFF.  I would then have to go into the program, manually change it to ON and then it works anywhere for 30 minutes up to 20 hours, and again, randomly change the Sharing to OFF.
      I am an experienced PC user, and I am very sure that this has nothing to do with my WIFI because it’s not a dropped connection or random TV not being found.   Something is happening inside Windows 10 that is triggering this status change.  And it never fluctuates back to Sharing ON by itself.
      Being so frustrated, I actually updated the Router to the latest firmware a few days ago, but this problem continues as before.
      As an experiment, I installed an alternate Media Server program called Serviio.  One can also see that when my Sharing changes to OFF, the two green lights turn red.
      Anyone have an idea of what can be happening after nearly 8 years of not experiencing this?       I am guessing that Windows is triggering some “Service” to stop running, but what can it be?
