Hi guys,

So, as far as i can see, the problem still remains and as others mentioned, it's not only one problem (the one with the subtitles).

So to conclude everything here, so far the problems are:

1) Subtitles doesn't play as they have to.

2) The menu is too slow

3) To open the menu you have to push a button such as "smart" or "guide", "info" etc, wait for few seconds until you see the message "System Manager Initializing" (or something like that) and then you can finaly enter the menu.

4) The above includes the problem with the "guide", that you cannot enter straight after you turn on the TV and you have to do what i wrote before.

5) For a strange reason, when i (finaly) enter the LG store and try to download an app, it always asks me for my e-mail and password. That means that it doesn't keep my details in memory and i have to do it every time i'm trying to download an app.

6)A very big problem that i found yesterday is that, through the TV's browser i cannot see any flash video. It says that Flash is not supported. WHAT???

Guys, if you have anything else to put, do it because i'm looking to send the link of this thread to LG.

Also,

8) I had apps on my mobile phone where i could use'em with my old 32lm620A, such as remote control, live camera from my android phone to the TV, TV photo grabber and few more. None of these apps work in WebOS.

I've just installed sw update 03.23.24.

Didn't notice any difference yet, there is still an issue with subtitles as with .17:

- doesn't recognize external srt

- doesn't recognize embedded pgs or vobsub

- issue with encoding utf/ansi srt

@vkomitov, I already tried that but for me it's still the same.

I use only english subtitles - latin 1252 code and i notice only 2 characters shown incorrectly ' and ".

I join the group of disappointed customers, as well.

<i> and </i> also drive me crazy :D

And for some MKVs i cannot turn off subs when I have changed the audio track to my desired language - Latvian. Then I have Latvian audio track and english subs. Or is that problem with mkv container?

Hello guys,

I have a first official answer from LG Hellas about the bugs.

"We would like to inform you that the reported as weak spots of the system webOS have taken into account of the competent departments (software development) of our company. In any case, we would like to note that the webOS platform is at the heart of the operation of the new TVs of LG Electronics and is constantly evolving, so that every consumer has gradually (and through future upgrades) a better experience handling these devices"

I don't know what they had in their mind when they were writing this e-mail to me, but it didn't solve any of the problems.....

hello from pireaus guuyyyys. Yesterday I also bought the 42LB650V and I am here to join the disappointment group.....  I own a previous 47'' (about 3 years old) model which made me very happy every single day and I still love it!

ALSO, a major issue with USB playback function is that the fastforward option reallyyyy suuuuucks BIG TIME. And the skip chapter option simply doens't exist when viewing a movie from usb/external hdd

I dont have the time nor the mood  to dive deep in the specifics of the tv so there only two options for me:

either take it back to the stoe and replace it with a previous model

or..... plug my external hard disk to playstation and see everything from there until thy decide to make WebOs workable......

I don't understand why going with webOS for TV which is still in development, when there is Android TV that is prity mature! I would gladly install Android TV now if there is possibility!

Didn't Android TV just get announced? Google TV has been around but never really took off.

I think that with any first release there are going to be some issues, but with 1 million+ TVs sold, I'm sure there will be improvements. Based on the info we have, LG is already working on the next version of webOS for 2015.

Hi there,

I just upgraded from an LG Smart TV 65LM620T to an LG WebOS TV 65UB980V and cannot seem to get 2D to 3D

to work within Netflix app. Could do this on my old one!!! Just says 3D not available.

Is there some secret menu I can enable this within WebOS apps? the 2D to 3D feature is amazing and watching movies

without that is too flat and horrible.

Works absolutely fine via HDMI inputs and DVB-T/DVB-S etc... just not via WebOS apps.

Updated to latest firmware and still no option.

Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Chris

Have we heard ANYTHING at all from LG on this matter? I am also thinking about buying myself a 2014 webOS TV, and it would S-CK big time if they released a new model in 2015 wit a new webOS version, leaving their old customers abandoned. These things doesn't exactly come cheap, and since the software feels somewhat "unfinished", I would expect it to evolve during the following years. I would happily pay for webOS 2.0, just as long as I can update...

Samsung did a great thing with their "evolution kit"...

I've also got problem with subtitles not showing <i> italic </i> subtitles and it's extremely annoying. I mean, thats a very basic feature and it's really bad of them to not implement it in some way. I have mailed them three times and I've only once gotten a response that "they will contact our specialist and get back to me", but nothing yet. I also called them and some guy talked about this being something that they have chosen to do. Honestly I didn't really understand his explanation of this and just told me to "erase all the italics in a subtitle file by editing the document" but that's not what you should need to do in my opinion, and it's a pain in the ass when you've got a big video library.

I'm really disappointed, I even bought a Raspberry Pi in order to watch movies without any troubles because this italic problem is driving me nuts. I wish they just would fix this, it's probably the easiest thing in the world. I believe that italics works on some older LG TV that I've tried, it's just stupid not having it working now.

Older LG models such as LM and LA series was playing ALL subs without problems even if they had color changes, italic, bold, underline etc.

For the moment there is no update to fix this problem.

This situation has started to annoying me too too much,

I'm thinking to make use of the warranty rights if they don't fix it soon.

Probably they are working on this, since it surely must be considered a "basic" feature. The only way to be sure I guess is that as many people as possible report it as an error.

This is a 1st gen OS for the TV, and surely there are lots of things that have scrapped for the first release that I am sure is planned for wither smaller updates, or the next bigger update. That is usually the way it works with consumer electronics these days, they release something decent and then spend 1-3 years fixing all the issues and adding new features. Software becomes obsolete MUCH faster than the actual hardware these days, and that is something most manufacturers have realized. Just look at Samsung and their "evolution kits"...

Yes, but they should know that we are not developers. It is OK if I register like developer, and upgrade my hardware to beta releases, than I can not complain on bugs, but if I bougt TV, stupid TV with million options less than any other hw ( computer, tablet, phone etc ), and they put beta sw on it, and can not make basic options to work, that is insolence.

I just can not imagine one working day of Web OS for LG TV developer, how it looks like. What are they doing if they can not fix stupid bugs like this.

Another problem came up last night.

I connect my blu-ray Samsung BD-E5500 and the SimpLink couldn't work.

I try everything that was available in both TV and Blu-Ray but nothing happend.

I will say it once again that in my old LG 32LM620A the activation of SimpLink was just few clicks on the RC.

What is going on with this WebOS?????????????

Connect your Samsung BD player through device connector to the respective HDMI port. For this go to the Device Connector tile and select your hDMI port where the Samsung is. You will be taken into a setup sequence. After this you will be able to use you remote to control the Samsung.

Also be aware that you have an extensive help - electronic user manual on your tv. The WebOS works different to the Netcast. It is a PC like software.

Nothing special for the moment.

The problem with the subtitles still remains, also no fix update for browser's flash plugin.

My TV's Firmware version is at 04.32.20 and WebOS Version 1.3.1-3220(afro-arches).

The fact that they haven't fix any of these very important issues is very annoying.

Whenever i call them, they say that "if you believe that there is a problem with your TV, take it to the service store, otherwise wait for updates".

....At the end..... Bullshit.....

Mr.North and anyone else who believes that soon there will be a solution.

I am afraid that incompatibility will play a key role in what's next for this platform.

I personally think that LG should come out officially and say clearly to the people that this attempt was a FAILURE and if there is a possibility of moving to another platform using the same hardware to do it so directly and free for all WebOS based TVs owners.

I do not believe that they have room for more excuses.

Any upgrades are available so far, haven't restore any of the major issues have been reported here and all over the internet for the WebOS platform.

The most frustrating is that LG has no officially placed on the issue, although understands their problems. And of course I can't believe that LG is not aware of all these problems, do not you think???

The best would be to have an official answer here, in this forum, in this thread.

...Please let me know if this ever happens.

I think WebOS is great for a TV.  It's clean and very easy to use.  The problem is it leaks memory.  If this is fixed in 2.0, then I am happy.  Right now, the memory leaks are crippling the OS.

      Hey guys !!!
I have a UHD UJ634v  LG webos Tv  that lately an error message pops on the screen staying : Tv signal has been lost due to the satellite LNB short.Check LNB connection"
This is really getting on my nerves because I can't get any signal even after resetting the TV or even updating to the last  software version.
I check my cable line and fixed every possible problem. The error message keeps showing up even after disconnecting cable line from the back of TV just as if a short circuit or something has happened inside the Tv.
Do you think that'd be software or hardware failure or something else??? How to fix it?
Please help me out with this cuz all my lovely satellite TV channels are gone 😐
Here is the actual error message on the right top o the screen
      Thanks in advance !!!

On our LG G1 OLED, when watching a program on Binge, the Binge app restarts itself every 20 minutes or so with a message about needing to restart to free up memory. Power-cycling the TV doesn't fix the problem, nor does running the "Memory Optimiser" function from system settings. None of the other streaming service apps we have on the TV have this problem - Prime Video, Stan, Netflix, Disney+, Britbox, ABC iView, SBS On Demand, Youtube. Those are the only other apps installed on the TV. I've checked the LG WebOS version and checked for app updates, and everything is latest version.
If I run the Binge Android app on my Chromecast with Google TV, it works without any problems when streaming the same programs.

In fact, Spotify doesn't offer its service to LG webOS Smartwatch now. If you want to listen to Spotify songs on LG webOS Smartwatch, you'd need a
link hidden, please login to view. With Tunelf Spotibeat Music Converter, you can and then transfer them to LG webOS Smartwatch for playing without limits.

Samsung has made fridges with touchscreens before. LG has made fridges with doors that turn transparent to show you the inside. This year at CES 2018, those two ideas are finally merging into one with LG’s new InstaView ThinQ smart refrigerator, which features a 29-inch touchscreen that becomes transparent if users knock on it twice.
LG actually tried this two years ago, with a version called the Smart InstaView Door-in-Door that ran a full version of Windows 10, but it’s not clear that the company ever shipped the Windows version.
This version uses the touchscreen to manage your food using LG’s webOS software and Amazon’s Alexa, which will let you tag food with virtual stickers and expiration dates and get automatic reminders when things are running low or about to go bad. There’s also a wide-angle panoramic camera on the inside of the fridge that will let you remotely view your fridge while you’re out and about to check and see if you’re actually out of milk or not.

Unfortunately, the only image that LG has shared showing the fridge is a low-resolution shot on its YouTube page banner, but it seems that you’ll be able to still use the screen while it’s translucent, allowing you to tag food directly in a vaguely augmented reality-esque move.
LG is also touting how all of its ThinQ kitchen gadgets can talk to each other to make kitchen tasks easier. So your ThinQ fridge can talk to your EasyClean oven, which will help you cook food through step-by-step instructions from the recipe app from your fridge. Then, your EasyClean oven can notify your QuadWash dishwasher about the kind of meal you cooked, so it can more efficiently select a wash cycle for that dish. Of course, all this requires spending thousands of dollars replacing every appliance in your kitchen (and if this all works as well as LG claims it does), but it’s still an intriguing vision of a Jetsons-like future utopia.
No price or release date for the InstaView ThinQ refrigerator or any of LG’s other new appliances have yet been announced.
