Add me to the list of disillusioned LG owners.

I'm in the process of contacting support about the "This app will restart to free up more memory" problem, but apparently they have never heard of it

Although we've had the TV for over a year I've only recently started using the WebOS options, as a possible alternative to our VM TIVO. Oh dear, web searches suggest I don't hold my breath in expectation of it ever being fixed, let alone seeing any real improvements.

If not my old TV spoilt suddenly and Sony is uncertain of its TV business back then, I wouldn't go for LG WebOS. I would have chosen Sony android TV.

Oh yes, how about waiting for an app to appear in the app store just to find out that the "WebOS 2.0 upgrade" that my TV got wasn't REALLY WebOS 2.0... It was WebOS 1.nothing.

It's the Windows Phone of TVs. Sure, it's easy to just snap in a Roku or Chomecast but the thing LG got right was the Magic Remote. Otherwise I would have ditched WebOS. Now I'm stuck with a big 70" TV that only has Plex. Lame.

Topic moved to discussion forum.  Unfortunately there have been many complaints in this forum about the webos 1 and 2 for that matter. Lg doesn't seem to be updating older TVs to webOS 3.0 and 3.5, some of that they say is because of the hardware capability.  You can try and contact them directly with update question via their contact form, it seems to work for some.

Yeah these propietary built-ins OSes are very slow and have few if any desirable apps in them.  I use Direct TV Now for my streaming channels and it is still not on the apps list either.  Just forces you to have to use Roku. Amazon Fire, ChromeCast or Apple TV box 4K to get all the usable apps.  I understand that both Samsung and LG want to built there smart TV users base but in truth it not happening like they thought.  I have Smart TV built-in in my DVD players, TVs and never ever use them because it is very limited, locks up alot and are slow too.  But the management of the both electronics manufacturers keeps plugging away, putting them in all of their video devices and not really expending much money on improving apps content nor making their OS  competetive at all with the streaming boxes.

All I want from my LG 43UJ6300 SmartTV is to automatically start Web browser and show me my one (and only one) favorite, in full screen when I turn the TV on. Is it too much to ask? I could forgive 1000 sins of WebOS if I could do this one thing. May be one of you SmartPeople know how to do it.

It's not webOS, it's your TV that sucks. I am perfectly happy with my 55UJ670V... cheap, fast, 4 seconds to boot from standby, 20 to fully boot. 10 to boot in quick start mode.
channel zapping is fast.

I see no problem whatsoever. I am just curious to see webOS 4.0 on this tv since I am still at 3.7.0 (firmware version 4.70.65)

This is a feature many people have asked for, one that the boffins at LG obviously did not think of.  It is possible that the feature will have made its way in to webOS 4, but it is anyone's guess if your current TV will be one of those that will be compatible with the upgrade.

Recording anything with the LG 'Smart ' remote is way more difficult than  recording with my Youview box. So un-intuitive that you feel that you have wasted your money. The TV is great, buy the control is rubbish and not very smart at all, as to the Web OS, well!!!

If you have 2 neurons, yes. Pressing the center button on magic remote and then select record does not seem so difficult even to monkeys.

LG TVs are absolute SH_T!!! The WiFi fails coming out-of-the-gate!   The Updates cause more issues than they resolve. CALL 'EM "DOWNDATES'  Support won't do JACK.  Their Self-promoting Xumo Ads are complete BULLSHIT!  Who needs to keep being chronically reminded of their car's features while they're using it.  I KNOW ALL ITS FEATURES!!! After several calls, their attitude is 'Oh well!'  IS ANYONE INTERESTED IN JOINING A CLASS-ACTION SUIT AGAINST THESE "INCOMPS'?  PLEASE LET ME KNOW.  Iwill be diligently searching a Legal Team.  I'm glad it's a flat screen.  At least then, when I throw it out, it'll occupy less space in the landfill!

WHAT LG REALLY STANDS FOR IS:     "LESS GOOD"!

ADAMANTLY & SINCERELY,

I just bought a brand new one. It's fast, looks nice, but their claim of "most commonly to used apps" is entirely deceptive. Tubi, Nosey, and Discovery plus, are the most used in the country and it's not even available on WebOSs "hundereds" of lame apps. You spend a thousand dollars on a smart tv and it's not even smart enough to support the most commonly used apps in the country, forcing you to invest in a separate streaming device such as Roku. Very disappointed in the deceptive advertising of this product. If it wasn't a gift for my dad who is computer illiterate I definitely would have returned it.

I am happy with WebOS. What you wrote are normal things in a new OS. It will improve in time. Make sure you have the latest firmware on your TV.

The star-up speed is improving with every firmware. This is a pc like software. So it is normal to take abit of time to start all the services. Concerning the speed in changing the channels this may be cable operator related. The issue with changing from HDMI to Live TV is not present on my set running 3.23.24. Fw.

If you like Android you should have waited a bit more. Philips is launching its android TV top line which is three times more expensive than the LG. Also will be present only on active 3d tvs.

Last, if you really dislike your tv so much give it back to the store.

On our LG G1 OLED, when watching a program on Binge, the Binge app restarts itself every 20 minutes or so with a message about needing to restart to free up memory. Power-cycling the TV doesn't fix the problem, nor does running the "Memory Optimiser" function from system settings. None of the other streaming service apps we have on the TV have this problem - Prime Video, Stan, Netflix, Disney+, Britbox, ABC iView, SBS On Demand, Youtube. Those are the only other apps installed on the TV. I've checked the LG WebOS version and checked for app updates, and everything is latest version.
If I run the Binge Android app on my Chromecast with Google TV, it works without any problems when streaming the same programs.

In fact, Spotify doesn't offer its service to LG webOS Smartwatch now. If you want to listen to Spotify songs on LG webOS Smartwatch, you'd need a

Samsung has made fridges with touchscreens before. LG has made fridges with doors that turn transparent to show you the inside. This year at CES 2018, those two ideas are finally merging into one with LG’s new InstaView ThinQ smart refrigerator, which features a 29-inch touchscreen that becomes transparent if users knock on it twice.
LG actually tried this two years ago, with a version called the Smart InstaView Door-in-Door that ran a full version of Windows 10, but it’s not clear that the company ever shipped the Windows version.
This version uses the touchscreen to manage your food using LG’s webOS software and Amazon’s Alexa, which will let you tag food with virtual stickers and expiration dates and get automatic reminders when things are running low or about to go bad. There’s also a wide-angle panoramic camera on the inside of the fridge that will let you remotely view your fridge while you’re out and about to check and see if you’re actually out of milk or not.

Unfortunately, the only image that LG has shared showing the fridge is a low-resolution shot on its YouTube page banner, but it seems that you’ll be able to still use the screen while it’s translucent, allowing you to tag food directly in a vaguely augmented reality-esque move.
LG is also touting how all of its ThinQ kitchen gadgets can talk to each other to make kitchen tasks easier. So your ThinQ fridge can talk to your EasyClean oven, which will help you cook food through step-by-step instructions from the recipe app from your fridge. Then, your EasyClean oven can notify your QuadWash dishwasher about the kind of meal you cooked, so it can more efficiently select a wash cycle for that dish. Of course, all this requires spending thousands of dollars replacing every appliance in your kitchen (and if this all works as well as LG claims it does), but it’s still an intriguing vision of a Jetsons-like future utopia.
No price or release date for the InstaView ThinQ refrigerator or any of LG’s other new appliances have yet been announced.

hello sir can you provide gCMOB application for our Tv we have installed CCTV cameras and to access that we need a application called gCMOB
    • Solution For That Pollution
    • By Ramesh Chand Vishwakarma
It is unprofessional on part of LG TV that they do not resolve the basic issue of adding app gCmob in their app store.
My 50UT80506LA LG WebOs TV does not support my office security camera system via wifi to TV.  We need (gCmob app) in list of app.
I can't connect my office camera via Wi-Fi to LG-TV. No body in LG TV technical team is proactive in resolving the issue of customer. They are more happy to befool the customers, rather than looking for technical solution through wider thinking.
Please talk to you top management and make a visit to our office to understand the customers plight..
      Please respond to customers needs.
