How to change audio language?

I Was watching a film. (Mkv)

I stopped playback.

Tv said there is firmware update. I updated to firmware 04.30.09.

Later i wanted to continue the film, but the audio language changed to english. I can not switch It back to to original. The audio icon in the menu is inactive (like It was always).

Im playing the film through Dlna from my NAS.

Any ideas, how to Change language?

I have the same problem after update.

I can't switch language from english when playing mkv over DLNA from my PC HDD.

It can be fixed if I delete all audio except required languge from mkv file.

I think that is new firmware bug.

I have the same issue. The local support told me unfortunately the DLNA client does not support switching audio streams. However, watching the same MKV from USB works fine, I can switch between audio streams.

Hopefully they'll solve this problem in the DLNA client because I don't want to remove additional audio streams from each and every MKV I have.

Ok, no changing Tracks on DLNA, but I checked the MKV file with MKVMerge.

My wanted audio track was the first, it had the same language whitch is set default on TV, and it was the default audio Track in MKV.

So it seems WebOS picks audio track randomly. (or it always picks the English Track...)

I hope it will change soon.

It's closer to random. Mostly it chooses English but there are cases when other streams come out as winners. FYI, I've created a shell script to easily create a copy of an MKV file with the video and one audio stream. It's on GitHub:

Local languge came back as default with new firmware update for mkv in DLNA client. Howewer audio languges switch does not work.

So only one local audio track from mkv file is avalable to play.

I have updated to the latest firmware but the issue is still there. I have an MKV with multiple audio tracks and the playback starts with the english one not the local language (the language settings are set to define hungarian as the local language).

I have local language plaing with my mkv files now. Not sure how DLNA client select tracks to play but each mkv file has adio "track#" and "default" property for each audio track.

My files have local languge as track #1 and its "default " property = yes.

Hi! I started having this annoying issue on my 42" 42LA740S after an update, probably the same as you. Out of the box it was possibile to switch language and subtitles while streaming (I use Plex as media server on my PC). I'm trying to get an answer from the LG italian support, but I expect nothing

I think they removed this functionality from the DLNA player for some reason, and they are never putting it back

Maybe if we flood the support with emails.... :D

edit: I found this article explaining how to downgrade TV firmware

I'm not new to this kind of thing, but I think is a little dangerous because there is no "recovery mode" or a way to flash the firmware directly from a pendrive USB, but you need to trick the TV to make it download a specific version of the software from your PC instead of LG official website.

Actually, with the latest software update the whole issue has has been resolved for me. I'm able to select audio track and subtitles provided in the MKV files.  :)

Are you sure it works streaming from a DLNA server like Plex? I just received last update (04.27.05) but this ain't changed. What is your software version?

I attach a detailed screenshot of my sw version  :)

Yes, I'm using my NAS as the DLNA server. It used to be the case that I was unable to change audio tracks, although the TV could handle multiple audio tracks when I used the same file via USB instead of DLNA.

Please hav my software version as following:

It's not immediately obvious but you CAN change the subtitles and audio track on Web OS 4.0.0.0. Here is how:

1) In Smartshare, choose a video and play it.

2) When Playing a video, click on the Additional Options icon. It's a left arrow Icon (<--) at the bottom right of the player.

3) Once you click the left arrow, it's clear. You can select the Subtitle option or Audio options. If the icons are disabled, it means it the video doesn't have addiitonal subtitles/audio.

That's it. I hope that helps.

Hello everyone. I am having the same issue as everyone. Change language track is disabled in the menu. I am pretty sure I was able to do that a couple of months ago. Probably I updated the firmware. The TV is a LG 32LB580B-SA-SA_37. Firmware is 04.02.06 and Tv says there is no update available

I have owned a couple of LG TV’s over the last 8 years, with the current one being a high-end 77” model.
I am still using LG TV SmartShare (v.33) as my “Media Player” v2.3.1511.1201 for my PC– which was last updated in 2015 but it is still compatible today.  As proof, my latest TV is now 11 months old and I have had zero issue (until you see below).
link hidden, please login to view My PC setup is: Windows 10 Pro (with all latest updates) and a TP-Link Archer BE19000 (BE805) router.    NOTHING has been changed on my router, TV (no updated or changed firmware) or any equipment moved around in the last 4 months.
Up until about 3 weeks ago, everything ran just fine.  The SmartShare program was always defaulted to have Sharing ON, upon start of it, which is always when Windows boots).  However, about 3 weeks ago, the SmartShare PC program has started to randomly change its status to Sharing OFF.  I would then have to go into the program, manually change it to ON and then it works anywhere for 30 minutes up to 20 hours, and again, randomly change the Sharing to OFF.
I am an experienced PC user, and I am very sure that this has nothing to do with my WIFI because it’s not a dropped connection or random TV not being found.   Something is happening inside Windows 10 that is triggering this status change.  And it never fluctuates back to Sharing ON by itself.
Being so frustrated, I actually updated the Router to the latest firmware a few days ago, but this problem continues as before.
As an experiment, I installed an alternate Media Server program called Serviio.  One can also see that when my Sharing changes to OFF, the two green lights turn red.
Anyone have an idea of what can be happening after nearly 8 years of not experiencing this?       I am guessing that Windows is triggering some “Service” to stop running, but what can it be?

      Hello,
I need help, I bought LG Oled 65 C41 LA tv two days ago, tv is working mostly fine, except when I watch LG installed streaming platforms ( Netflix and MAX tested ) tv freezes and after about 10 seconds it restarts. It does not have any pattern as far as I know, sometimes I can watch 20 mins, last two times after six minutes it crashed and restarted automatically. Can someone please help me, how can I resolve this issue? Did someone had sam problems already? Is my tv broken or I can do something to fix it?

I have a couple of LG OLEDs in shared spaces, with external speakers, one via optical and the other via analog jack (confusingly named headphones). Whenever bluetooth headphones are used and then disconnected, the TV reverts to "internal" terrible audio. For non-technical people this is permanent. Do I have to train everyone to select the device from the long list or can I set a default?

      Hello,
      I have a new C4 TV.
Here is the problem I am facing, as well as a suggestion for improvement.

When you have an acoustic deficiency, it is much easier to use a headset (via bluetooth).
But the only current option is to switch the sound to the internal speakers when you activate the bluetooth.
It is still a shame to penalize other people who watch TV by no longer allowing the use of a good sound installation that you have (sound bar, ...) because a person needs an acoustic aid.
Would it be possible to add this combination (optical output + bluetooth) to satisfy everyone?
I add that I tried to place an optical splitter to combine the 2, however, there is a bug apparently because as soon as you turn off the headset, there is a white rectangle which probably indicates an error that appears very briefly but every few seconds, which makes TV viewing impossible.
      Thanks for the follow-up

I purchased an LG 86" UT8050 4K UHD LED Smart TV (2024) from JBHIFI in Australia. The TV was wall-mounted and set up by a local installer. I discovered that my TV has Chromecast built-in. I tried casting music from Roon, but Chrome immediately crashed and the TV shutdown. I tried again and the audio was distorted. I shut down and tried again and the audio stuttered. I tried Chromecasting with Qobuz and Plex and got the same result on audio playing out to my Yamaha RX-V6A and the TV speakers. I then tried to play audio from the Plex App in the LG WebOS. That played fine, without any distortion.
Thinking this might have been a result of a hurried setup (the installer did this job "on the run" I reset the TV to factory defaults and set it up again. Everything went smoothly. But the problem with Chromecast persists. First time launching Chromecast the app crashed and the TV shutdown. 2nd try I got distorted audio to the receiver and to the TV speakers. Audio and Video are fine on all other apps. I can see no other faults.
I've been Googling this and not seeing much info other than a few threads where people are saying that the LG built-in Chromecast feature does not work. I saw that one person returned his TV and the replacement had the same issue with built-in Chromecast. Most discussions on this issue are hijacked by people using a Chromecast streamer or dongle as opposed to the built-in Chromecast. They often talk about turning off this or that specific Chromecast setting, settings that are not accessible with a TV with built in Chromecast
In the WebOs when I look at connected source devices Chromecast is there with a "Chromecast Settings" option. The settings have only one option and that is opt-in on sending crash data to Google. Apparently, Google is not monitoring the issue very closely.
I listen to mostly Hi-Res audio. I wonder if the issue is caused by the bitrate of 24-bit Hi Res flac files. I did notice that when I cast audio that was CD quality (16-bit), the distortion did not occur. This is weird though because in the past I have been able to cast 24-bit audio to Chromecast-enabled devices without any problems.
My TV says my firmware is up to date. I did not see a prompt to install a firmware update during setup. I've set software and app updates to be automatic.
Appreciate any help or even a "Hey, it's not just you, this is a known issue, I've got this problem too".
