Can't get screensaver off

jordyvang

Question

Hi everyone,

I just bought a new LG television for a lobby in the company.

It's a 55" LG Smart TV with WebOS.

This tv is to show the narrowcasting system. But after a few hours the tv gets in to something like a screensaver.

The narrowcasting is playing with the webbrowser from the installed apps.

Does anyone knows how to get the screensaver off?

Thankyou very much:)

Hi,

I have the same problem.

TV model: 42LB630V

Upgraded to latest firmware version available on LG site, but screensaver continues to appear. All power saving and eco settings are disabled. It's very annoying. Tried to call to Lithuanian LG support, but they couldn't help me.

What else I can do?

Thanks!

did you talk with the Lg technical support? I am in contact with them but I dont know if I am loosing my time. the problem is related with the new firmware. in my case I have an Lg 42lb630v with an old firmware that doesn't have this problem, but the new ones I recently bought (that have the new firmware) have this problem and,  as far as I know, it is not possible to downgrade the new ones to previous firmware.

I have the same problem, is there already a solution? I want to show dynamic content in the browser. So, a screensaver is not needed. But LG support says, there is no user input, so the screensaver starts. I was wondering if I could simulate user-input with javascript on the website. Does somebody already tried that?

Hi, we have recently pursached five televisions model 47LB652V-ZA and suffer the same problem. We use them for showing a static webpage with some stats, but after one hour the screensaver starts. All ECO configs are off.

The webos version is 1.3.0-3216. I have updated one of them to 1.3.1-3220 with the same result.

My final solution was: exchanging the webos television for an older LG with netcast. The browser of netcast did not have this problem and I directly stopped automatic updating, before the LG-boys come up with an annoying update ;-)

First I tried to build a webapp for the webos television. The webapp worked perfectly, but the same problem still existed. The screensaver started after a same period.

So do not put your time in trying to build a webapp!

But if somebody knows the solution, I'm still interested. Building a webapp for netcast is more difficult.

I believe I have a similar issue.  Hopefully, my 2 cents may help others with their issue and/or shed some light on the problem I am having:

Medium sized business environment.

LG 70LB7100 on the wall.  Cabled in.  Static IP. 192.168.1.X.  Confirmed it can get to the internet through built in web Browser.  Currently no firmware updates available when a check is run.

Windows 8.1 Surface Pro. 4.00 GB, 64-bit, Office 2013.  No updates on OS nor Office have been run yet.  On wireless network.  Surface can ping TVs IP address.

I am able to initialize a screen share (Project through Windows 8.1 to a Device, in this case the LG TV).  I show an excel spreadsheet with production data.  It works for a while.

However, after an undetermined amount of time the TV appears to go into screensaver mode.  It has the colliding colorful "paint blobs" and the words screen share, slowly bouncing around the screen.  I am in another room and have not been able to actually put a stopwatch on the error, nor am I sure if the clock starts over when someone moves the remote.

I too have gone through all the menus.  Turned off anything to do with timers, powers saving, etc.

I can't find a menu item for screen saver. :(

I just need my Excel spreadsheet to be on the TV 24/7.....

Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas.

Hi Everyone! The latest WebOS software update 04.45.04 allows you to turn off the screen saver.  To update go to settings>general>about this tv then click on the software update.  After the update go to settings>general>screen saver...and turn it off.  Thank you LG WebOS team!

I managed to get the option of Screen Saver Off after doing the update online.

But while disabling the screensaver there was a warning message, if you are keeping a same image for 2 hours or more Image Burn can happen. How dangerous is it for the TV? ( I am using the TV in my office for a Permanent Image display).

Same problem here with LG 65EG9600 model. The black screensaver loads every 2-3 minutes when I am watching a movie in the browser. I spoke to LG tech support today and they told me that the browser is not intended for streaming videos as there is not enough memory... I am considering returning this new 4k OLED  TV and getting a Samsung...

Fkng idiots. In my LB5800 I had no problem with that. I bought a better LB650V with great cosmic webOS and it sucks. :/
