LG web os TV and LG soundbar - sound drop/ Cutoff / issue wireless

Question

Posted

Hi,

I'm not sure its the right place but at any case i will describe my issue here and maybe you will be able to help:

Recently I bought a a TV and a sound bar, and i have some issue from the moment i get the TV.

TV model - LG 55LB679Y with latest firmware version i have at my country (Israel) - 04.30.16
SoundBar - LG NB4540

the TV connected to sound bar by "wireless simplink" feature 'LG TV' and TV connected to My Wireless router.

every 5 - 15 minutes, i have sound drops / Cutoff / stooped / Interruption, seem like the TV loose connection to sound-bar for few seconds or something similar, it's happen from any AV source im using HDMI, USB...

and the local re-seller replace the sound-bar to a new one (same modal off course) and i didn't help.
i have try to troubleshot the problem in the last few weeks - but didn't succeed to solve it, and also the support / costumer service didn't have solution for this.

some steps i take when troubleshot this issue:
* different wireless configuration on router -  different channels, SSID, Security - issue still persist.

* another wireless router - issue still persist.

* working with optical cable to sound bar - just for testing - working ok, but i need the wireless feature working this the reason i bought sound bar and TV from the same manufacturer.
* disconnect the TV from wireless network - looks like it's working ok, but didn't had chance to test it for long time.

from my point of view looks like it's issue with wireless device on TV not able to to work in parallel with soundbar and wireless network for some reason, It could be caused bysoftware issue on WebOS or Hardware issue with this TV model.

I really hope you be able to help me or throw some light on this case.

Kind regards,
Matan

I too am having same issues with intermittent dropping off of the sound volume.  I am using a new LG OLED 55B6V TV with Orbitsound A70 soundbar.   Both (top of range?) items newly purchased.  Connecting using recommended optical cable.   The sound seems to drops randomly for a few seconds and then recovers to the correct volume level.   Orbitsound support tell me the issue is with the LG TV?  Not sure where the issue is but it would appreciate LG helping to resolve with the Soundbar suppliers.

Your network connection might interfere with the wireless signal between the TV and the sound bar. If possible try to use a 5GHz connection if your router is supporting this feature. I'm interested to buy the same sound bar for my lb650v, but what's happened to you doesn't sounds good. Please reply if you get a fix for your problem. Thx.

i would give it a try and i will test it over the next days, I'll update if there is any change.

Please try with a different router, eventually with a 5ghz connection and let me know if you experience the same problem. It seems to be a general issue with the webOS TV models...

Hi guys, I have the same problems with my TV LG 55LB670 ( Italy, firmware 4.32.20 ) and Soundbar LG NB4540 wireless connected.

The TV is connected to my wireless router @ 5Ghz but I still experienced sound drops / interruptions with soundbar about every 30 minutes.

Sometimes, when I turn ON the TV, soundbar is not connected automatically and a popup from tv asks if I want to change sound output.

I hope that some firmware update could fix it, it's frustrating. If anyone solve this issue please let us know. Thanks

Well, I just bought a LG N3540 Soundbar and the first impressions are: the sound is quite good but, the problems are:

1. Random shutdowns when YouTube videos are played

2. Sound drops for less than a second at random moments

3. Loosing pairing with the TV (lb650v) or the TV is not automatically connect to the Soundbar

Yes, this is what I did. It works perfectly but I'm still dissapointed since I was expecting to use the LG wireless sync connection. Nevertheless, I hope to get a fix from a future LG update of WEBOS, otherwise it makes no sense to buy an LG sound bar for that particular feature Wireless Sound Sync .

There could be more than one issue. when you say the sound drops, you cant hear anything..?

1. If you cant hear anything, then the issue sis with the frequency of the router.

2. if you hear a very low quality sound, then the issue is different. this happens when the soundbar loses connection with the subwoofer. ( once you connect the tv with sound bar using sound sync, then tv speakers wont work until you disconnect the sound sync.

you need to put the sound bar and subwoofer in such a place where there is nothing in between them. they should see each other without anything in middle.

I have the similar issue, but this one is the wireless connection between the sound bar and the subwoofer. I have my subwoofer behind my recliner.

3. try to play the same audio again with and see if the drop happens at the same point of time in the song or audio. this could be the audio track issue.

Back with my conclusion. The LG soundbar N3540 is nothing but a stilish device. After many configurations and trials, I think it was a bad investment. The LG Sound Sync is a crap. At least on WebOS. The signal is lost too many times and the Soundbar is shutting down randomly. The same is happening with the Bluetooth connectivity which is lame too (tried with a laptop and two mobile phones - LG G3 & Samsung Galaxy S2) . The only connectivity that actually works is by wire (I use an optical cable). Shame LG for such device. I really tried to fix somehow all these issues but everything failed. I don't recommend such aquisition.

Hi, I have only had my LG TV (55OLEDE6V) for one week and my sound drops out every 15 minutes. If I rewind live TV or a recording, after the 'drop out', the missing sound is heard. This TV has a built in sound bar, so I would assume the TV and the sound bar are wired together, but I don't know.

I have downloaded the latest firmware updates but the problem still exists. If I cannot get this resolved I shall be getting a refund and a Samsung TV.

Any advice gratefully received.

Hi. What source are you viewing? I get brief (0.5 to 2 seconds) dropouts on my new LG 55UH950v TV, but only when viewing my HUMAX Freeview PVR. The dropouts happen whether I use soundbar or TV speakers. I have tried every setting under the sun, on TV and PVR. (bluray player and internal TV tuner dont exhibit the problem). Ive read humax reencode the audio so wonder if that has something to do with it?

I have a new Sony TV and new LG Soundbar. I have the intermittent cut outs with my soundbar as well. I am using an optical cable so I do not think its a connectivity issue. Not sure what else to do.

I don't think its an issues specific to the TV since I am using a Sony TV with LG soundbar. Have you tried connecting the HDMI to HDMI for sound? Maybe its just an optical cable issue with LG devices?

Interestingly enough I used to have this issue a lot, but can't recall it happening for several months now. I'm using the lg650lb with the N3540 sound bar. Only two things I can think of thane have changed, bought a couple of powerline adaptors so my to is now connected via Ethernet rather than wifi, and also there have been several updates to the to since I last recall it happening.

For people it is still happening to, what happens if you turn off wifi on your television (regardless of how it's connected to the sound bar)?

Tried it tonight and it did not work.

Thanks.  But the Soundbar I am using (Orbitsound A70) does not have HDMI connection.   Optical, Blue tooth or Aux (3.5mm jack) are the options

I've had nothing but trouble with my LG TV and soundbar since I purchased them. The soundbar cut out regularly when connected with an optical cable. Now I have connected it with Bluetooth and it is still cutting out, or the soundbar just switches itself off randomly.

I have also had problems with popups appearing on the TV for HDM12 and 13 inputs. All of these problems are well documented on various forums but I have been unable to find a solution for any of them.

Hi there, I had same issue with occasional connectivity loss between my OLED65B6P and LAS465B bar. Every few minutes, intermittently I'd lose sound for a second, or two. I replaced that thin cheapie optical cable that came with sound bar and used my old, fat Belkin optical cable. Over two hours of TV watching, not a single drop out.

I think that thin cable is not insulated well, or maybe has low optical quality fiber in it, same as fishing line:)

Anyways, hope this helps.

This is great. Please let me know if it continues to work.

Can't run hdmi audio unless tv supports ARC. At least that's how I understand it.

I have a Samsung smart tv and the LG sound bar, i have it connected with the optical cable. This sound dropping happens no matter what i am watching and it is annoying. I hope someone finds an answer soon. Please let me know if you do. I will keep reading.

      Hey everyone,
I have had LG TV for just two years. Last weekend, when I turned it on, it showed a blank white screen but was still illuminated, with sound working. No LG logo or image appeared. I unplugged the TV and held the power button for 30 seconds while it was unplugged, and the screen issue fixed the issue for a week[url=https://whitescreen.vip/
      ].[/url]
However, the same white screen problem has now returned, and the power reset trick no longer works.
Should I contact a local TV repair technician or reach out to LG customer support first?  Any advice?

I'm hard of hearing, and even with hearing aids I have to turn the volume so high that it deafens everyone else.
It would make my life easier if I could listen on headphones while everyone else listens to the speaker.

I have read a few comments here about sound bars, but did not see much that is fairly new. We just bought an LG 75qned85t TV and would like to add an external sound bar. The reviews we have read so far are pretty discouraging until you get up over $500 or so. Are there any less expensive ones that will improve the sound significantly? It is a bit disappointing to spend this much on a TV and have sub-par sound. TIA. john

i just started using a new LG 43UR7550 (cheapest model from them).......1st time using a LG as well as a Smart TV too.......and so far having a hard time adjusting the picture and sound (never had such problems with previous TVs)😒

      1) sound is worse than i thought since the speakers are down-firing (my previous TV had front-firing speakers)...........it has the AI Sound Tuning - so after it had tuned the sound - do i set the Sound Mode to ''AI'' or should i use ''Custom Settings'' to use the equalizer ??😬

      2) the TV has many different settings like Noise Reduction, TruMotion, etc.......so how to calibrate for best picture since i read that people say it's best to turn them all off ?😬

      3) i can turn off the screen when watching free-to-air broadcast channels.........but can i turn off the screen if i'm using Youtube app on the TV..........?..........what if i use a HDMI cable from my PC to the TV - can i turn off the screen ?🤒

      many thanks in advance😃
