LG 47LB670V bricked after self update

Question

Posted

Last night, around 22:30 CET I got a screen notice that there is a new update avalable for my TV. I coose to install it and after some time I got a new notfication that the update will finish istalling on next restart. So I restarted the TV using the remote, but it only displays the LG logo!

On local Romanian LG facebook page, another guy shared the same expirience last night :(

I opened a service request at LG suport service. Waiting for the tech to call me.

The same happened to me with a 42LB671V (yesterday evening in Germany). The only odd thing was the download being unusually slow (4 hours!).

I already tried to restore the previous firmware via USB, but it seems that a USB key is not recognized during bootup.

Is there another recovery procedure for the WebOS SmartTVs?

Thank you.

I have the same issue with the 42LB652V model in Turkey. The TV would not open after I tried to restart it for the update to install. Still waiting for a reply from the LG tech service.

@ Georgepgl

Contact LG support and they will probably give you an telefone number for authorised service. I don't know if you have to go there with the TV or they will come to your place to fix it, you will have to ask them the options.

Same problem occurred in Turkey on 32LB652v.

After the notice, upgrade process began, TV restarted but stuck on LG logo.

Nothing works.

Did LG tech service say anything about the issue? I have given them a call but they have yet to return.

LG service said today that they have mailed the issue to LG company and waiting for confirmation, to replace the unit completely. It appears that many TV units suffered the same problem in Turkey.

SEOUL, Oct. 23, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) is presenting its Self-Driving AI Home Hub and open Software Development Kit (SDK) at ROSCon 2024, the Robot Operating System Conference, taking place in Odense, Denmark, from October 21 to 23. This showcase provides the company with an opportunity to engage with the global developer community, share its technological expertise and explore new avenues to expand its open platform ecosystem.
Now in its 13th year, ROSCon brings together Robot Operating System (ROS) developers – both beginners and experts – to share and present their newest technologies, innovations and ideas. LG’s on-site booth highlights its SDK and Application Programming Interfaces (API) by providing a step-by-step experience of predefined apps using the API Tool. The company is demonstrating the Self-Driving AI Home Hub’s major features and services, including small talk, storytelling and reading sessions utilizing Optical Character Recognition (OCR). In addition, there will be a demo session where developers can create apps for the Self-Driving AI Home Hub using the open SDK.
The SDK package gives developers easy access to various Open Application Programming Interfaces (OPEN APIs) and programming tools, allowing them to have greater control over the Self-Driving AI Home Hub and seamlessly expand its software functionalities through ROS 2 and SDK, which support standardized interfaces. SDK is now available on LG’s developer site (

LG is also actively seeking partnerships with institutions and companies for collaboration based on the SDK. The company is providing engineering samples for advanced joint development projects and is pursuing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements. By providing easily accessible programming tools, LG aims to maximize the Self-Driving AI Home Hub’s potential and expand the ecosystem as an open platform. Parties interested can apply for joint development opportunities at .
Baek Seung-min, head of LG’s Advanced Robotics Lab (CTO Division), will deliver a presentation during the ROSCon 2024 Talk session on October 23 at 17:20 (CEST). The talk will focus on the software’s architecture and SDK performance optimization techniques for LG’s Self-Driving AI Home Hub, based on ROS 2. LG will also invite ROS developers to join the growing ecosystem by releasing its SDK, fostering an environment that promotes collaborative efforts on product development with customers.
“The introduction of SDK for the Self-Driving AI Home Hub demonstrates our vision of expanding the OS appliance ecosystem with the introduction of downloadable services that permit users to personalize their home appliances,” said Lee Hyang-eun, head of Customer Experience Innovation Division of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “This is the latest phase in our mission to expand the OS appliance ecosystem and lead the industry into a new era of smart home appliances.”

My LG 49UB850V LED TV  browser is too old. The most of the pages not work any more. How to easy update just one simple browser app? For example, often browser show error during open new page. It show certificate expire problem and page not load at all.
This mean LG sell product without update at least browser certificate and now we are stuck and can not even load one page from WWW.

Shame on you LG. I will not buy any more from you.  How dificolt is to release new update to update OS certificates? Microsoft Windows did this, android did also for old phones, etc... Really, can not undestend this asian people from Korea.

Up until a few days ago my TV and AVR have been working perfectly since I bought it.
Zero hassles with HDMI and connectivity.
Then I was prompted to update to the latest software version which I did and now often when I switch HDMI (running on 1) it picks up the device name, CEC works but I get “No Signal”… and then nothing.
Just stays on “No Signal”. It is almost as if some HDMI handshake breaks and now the driver is in a broken state.
I’ve found that if I hard power off and power on the device sometimes works but I don’t want to do that every time especially since it’s hard to get to the power.
This really strikes me as a software issue with the latest update as absolutely nothing else has changed in my setup.
      I’ve tried:
Different HDMI cables (high quality) Deep colour settings Reset the TV to factory default Different HDMI ports TV
      Model: OLED65G26LA / OLED65G26LA.HFBQLWK WebOS TV Version: 8.3.0.2301 Software Version: 13.30.56 AVR & Devices
Marantz SR5015 Nvidia Shield Pro PS5
The setup is the conventional AVR installation as shown in the attached file

      Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it possible to revert the software update?

I received an update 05.40.45 for my LG 65UM7510PLA TV a few days ago. After I tried to edit the channel list with the ChanSort programme, I noticed that the channel list transferred from the TV to USB was greatly reduced.
This was not a problem with the previous version 05.40.20. Unfortunately, it is not possible to upload the old version via USB.
