Difference between before and after in software/OS version.

Before

post-3526-0-28617600-1428739543_thumb.jpg

After

post-3526-0-14575300-1428739679_thumb.jpg

WebOS ver is still 1.X

Hopefully LG will work out to develop better OS in future for this model. So far the OS cannot be used for internet browsing or similar activities, it looks to me that this software is only "Beta" version.

Will test and see what is the difference between the old OS and the new one.

Kind Regards,

Then why on earth do they give instructions on how to do it via USB?

I have used USB method on last 3 updates with no issues whatsoever.

It is entirely up to yourself if you choose that option.

In my post the details i have provided are for TV model 42LB625T, be careful choosing the right firmware!

As Jimbo1876 explain in his post the procedure how to upgrade firm from USB is very well explained on LG website.

1. Download the archive file.

2. Unzip

3. Create folder on the USB drive and name it "LG_DTV"

4. Copy the file/s to USB drive in the previously created folder "LG_DTV".

5. Turn off the TV from remote

6. Plug in any of the USB ports or in service USB if it's exist.

7. Turn the TV on.

8. When "USB connected" message will apire select from the dialog "stay".

9. Last "USB update" message will apire chose "install".

What for around 10-15 minutes and than restart the TV.

Please note that I don't take any responsibility if something goes wrong while updating the firmware.

I'm not sure what will happen if the power goes down during upgrade, but I guess the TV will not work. Therefore I haven't notice that the TV has some sort of Bios or something similar but for sure is not erasing the old OS before fully install the new one. BTW I forgot to mention in my previous post that you can check the status of the update in the menu while updating.

With the new firmware everything works well; therefore there is no huge difference between the two versions of the firmware only the TV works faster and some bugs are fixed.

Below is my opinion about the TV.

TV quality builds material: very good.

Picture quality: awesome.

Sound quality: awesome.

Menu response: OK

Remote control: magic remote is awesome.

Switch On time: OK

WebOS: the most useless OS I ever seen in my life, I give up using the OS long time ago.

Updates of firm: I think that will never happened.

Immediately following the major LG webOS firmware upgrade last week, our OLED65G2PSA is damaged. A white line appears top to bottom of screen in from the left hand side & the tv either fails to turn on, or shuts itself down shortly after. Has anyone else had this issue & if so, has any update on a solution. (I'm waiting for LG to get it sorted. Waiting ...)

      Hello,
I have a problem with my new LG OLED G2 newest version 4 firmware.
I tried sorting my satellite channels with chansort programm from github, because sorting them with the tv remote is a pain.
When I try to sort them with the remote and have selected about 10 or more channels all the selected channels get suddenly getting deselected, so I can only select up to 10 at a time  to
sort them -> must be some kind of firmwarebug?
After exporting the channellist to a usb stick then editing it with chansort an importing it back into the tv all my channels are gone, all transponderns are deleted.
First I thought it was a charsort problem but all channels and transponders get also deleted when I simply export them to a usb drive an import them back, without editing the file at all.
Does someone know how to fix this problem?
And yes I´ve done multiple factory resets -> did not fix any of this behaviour.
I also discoverd another bug the deletes all channels, because I needed to reboot the tv I searched for a reboot option in the tvs menu, but there is no reboot option.
To do a full reboot (except from forcing it through cutting the tvs power) you can deselect the privicy agreements, after that the tv reboots, but then all channels are gone too.
