Can I watch Google Play movies on my LG WebOS TV?

Question

Posted

Just bought a new LG 4K 55" TV (55UF77), everything seems to be the latest. I have YouTube app installed, can stream 4K videos (really nice!) but I was wondering whether I could watch Google Play movies on my TV? I mean, directly, through some WebOS app. (Because, 'indirectly', using a ChromeCast device I believe I could, but that would limit me to WiFi and thus to a limited bandwidth.)

Anybody has any insight on this?

(I'm located in Hungary and I can watch Google Play movies on my laptop no problem. So it's not a regional limitation or anything.)

Regards,

Lajos

For YouTube 2015 models support VP9-video for 4k-videos.It's a codec that YouTube started using this year. 2014 models don't support it.

Google play movies app is now in premium apps for download(atleast in Finland).

      Hey guys !!!
I have a UHD UJ634v  LG webos Tv  that lately an error message pops on the screen staying : Tv signal has been lost due to the satellite LNB short.Check LNB connection"
This is really getting on my nerves because I can't get any signal even after resetting the TV or even updating to the last  software version.
I check my cable line and fixed every possible problem. The error message keeps showing up even after disconnecting cable line from the back of TV just as if a short circuit or something has happened inside the Tv.
Do you think that'd be software or hardware failure or something else??? How to fix it?
Please help me out with this cuz all my lovely satellite TV channels are gone 😐
Here is the actual error message on the right top o the screen
      Thanks in advance !!!

      Hi!
Is there anyone experiencing the failure to connect your desktop PC using the Google Chrome remote desktop application in the webOS? This just happened after I installed a recent webOS update.
      Are the any solutions? Thanks.

On our LG G1 OLED, when watching a program on Binge, the Binge app restarts itself every 20 minutes or so with a message about needing to restart to free up memory. Power-cycling the TV doesn't fix the problem, nor does running the "Memory Optimiser" function from system settings. None of the other streaming service apps we have on the TV have this problem - Prime Video, Stan, Netflix, Disney+, Britbox, ABC iView, SBS On Demand, Youtube. Those are the only other apps installed on the TV. I've checked the LG WebOS version and checked for app updates, and everything is latest version.
If I run the Binge Android app on my Chromecast with Google TV, it works without any problems when streaming the same programs.
