Hi Newbie,  if you're using Plex Media server on your laptop, and you have the LG app for Plex (which I gather isn't available in WebOS2.x) then it should auto detect it, tbh I can't remember if I needed to login, though I do remember some months back you had to be a Plex Plus subscriber for the LG app to work, that might have changed though allowing non-paying Plex users to access it.  The DLNA features should similar just work if it is enabled on your media server... I know Plex has a DLNA toggle that you need switched to on in the settings....

If you can confirm what version of WebOS you have that might help in getting a better/clearer response.  I'll assume its WebOS2.x given you just got it, but just to be sure can you confirm?

yes this is Web Os 2.xx something can't tell you exact version because i am not near my tv right now.

but want to tell before Plex i have also used some other media server software but they are now showing my tv in their list &  my device also not showing in TV smart share service as well.

I am on a sharing networking is this make difference ? well i don't think so because my server software is detecting someones Samsung TV in list but my TV is not showing on server software also on my device now showing in my TV as well.

I have also ping my tv IP from my laptop & its giving proper response

HI just one more thing notices today whenever i connected my laptop display using wifi with my TV and after screen mirroring started i minimize that app & open SmartShare services & found that now my device is showing there in External Memory & also my laptop also finding my TV but in this way I would not be able to play anything because if i would try to connect two services at one time.... So just found that if i connect my laptop in any way wireless not for second screen then this option will work :0 Any Idea abt this that i can connect my laptop with TV using wifi

If you're talking about a laptop rather than a NAS, i'm guessing it needs to have network sharing enabled.  I don't use Windows so I'm probably not a lot of help to you, but if you have another device (laptop/pc), can you see the files from the one with the media on it on that one?  You maybe just need to ensure they are public (the folders where the media lives).  Generally DLNA just works in my experience although I must say the DLNA media browser in LG isn't very nice from a user experience point of view.  Did you say you have Plex media server running on that laptop, can you see the media via the web browser plex interface?  Have you installed the Plex app on your TV (if it's a 2015 model with WebOS2 i believe you may not be able to?)....

oh and about the two types of connections, mine seems to do this ok, I use Plex which serves all the media via the Plex app on my LG, but I can also access it via the media share/DLNA feature (if this is enabled in Plex), OR, if the NAS (in my case), or public shares (your case) are set up... It shouldn't make a difference as such.  Please note I am no tech wiz, and I don't use windows but from what little I do know and my experience I can't see why these two things would clash, but others may be more informed and experienced with Windows than I am.

is there any way that i can connect my TV with my wifi using wifi direct option. because i know once i'll attach them with each other I'll be able to see my server in Smart Share because at the time of screen share i was able to see those in smart share

I use Serviio on Windows 7.  Under "Library", I added all the local drive/folders where I keep my media files, select types (movie, pictures, music) and refresh.  There, you can also add the patch to your NAS.  Make sure the service is running on your PC (or your laptop).  In LG TV (I have 49UB8500 with first generation of WebOS), go to SmartShare, select "Device", you should see Serviio with your PC/Laptop name with it.  The WebOS implement is not as nice compared to other or even the old LG SmartTV Upgrade (ST600).  The icons image quality is terrible.

Company Enhances Smart Home Connectivity With Open API

SEOUL, Dec. 17, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) has fully opened the Application Programming Interface (API) of its smart home platform, LG ThinQ, enabling developers to easily create smart spaces with LG appliances.
Recently, LG launched the LG Smart Solution API Developer website (
link hidden, please login to view) to officially open up the LG ThinQ API. An API acts as a digital connector that allows different software to exchange functions seamlessly. Developers can utilize the open API to integrate various features from LG AI appliances into their programs or systems, enhancing their services. The LG ThinQ API is divided into two categories: the ThinQ API for individual users and the ThinQ Business API for corporate partners. The ThinQ API allows for remote control of LG devices installed in homes or buildings and facilitates integration with various platforms.
For individual users, the ThinQ API supports the control and monitoring of AI appliances registered in the LG ThinQ app from various smart home platforms. By utilizing the ThinQ API, anyone can easily create a customized smart home that fits their lifestyle. For example, users of the global smart home platform Home Assistant can now connect and control 26 types of LG AI appliances, including refrigerators and washing machines, within their existing smart home environment. Home Assistant is a community-based open platform with about one million users worldwide who collaboratively develop various smart home functions such as device automation and feature expansion.
For enterprises, the ThinQ Business API supports partners operating office or residential buildings in integrating and managing various LG products, from appliances to commercial equipment like HVAC and signage, with their existing apps. For instance, large residential buildings can integrate LG appliances with their existing management apps for more convenient use. Residents can reserve the use of LG washers and dryers in common areas through the building management app, or administrators can detect abnormal conditions in the building using LG’s temperature and humidity sensors and quickly respond to issues through alert functions.
Meanwhile, LG has accelerated the integration of external products and services into the LG ThinQ platform by acquiring the smart home platform company Athom, known for its extensive IoT device connectivity. Athom’s smart home hub Homey currently connects over 50,000 types of appliances and IoT devices, and the Athom app store features around 1,000 apps that connect and control products and services from global brands like Philips and Aqara. LG plans to integrate Athom’s extensive open ecosystem and IoT device connectivity into the AI home hub LG ThinQ On, aiming to realize an AI home where generative AI better understands customers and provides optimal space solutions.
“With the official launch of ThinQ AI, we aim to deepen engagement with open-source community smart home power users in the open-source community and broaden our collaboration with B2B partners. This initiative will bolster our efforts to create smart home ecosystems powered by LG appliances, enhancing customer experiences across multiple touchpoints,” said Kim Kun-woo, vice president of LG’s Home Appliance Solution Company.

Samsung has made fridges with touchscreens before. LG has made fridges with doors that turn transparent to show you the inside. This year at CES 2018, those two ideas are finally merging into one with LG’s new InstaView ThinQ smart refrigerator, which features a 29-inch touchscreen that becomes transparent if users knock on it twice.
LG actually tried this two years ago, with a version called the Smart InstaView Door-in-Door that ran a full version of Windows 10, but it’s not clear that the company ever shipped the Windows version.
This version uses the touchscreen to manage your food using LG’s webOS software and Amazon’s Alexa, which will let you tag food with virtual stickers and expiration dates and get automatic reminders when things are running low or about to go bad. There’s also a wide-angle panoramic camera on the inside of the fridge that will let you remotely view your fridge while you’re out and about to check and see if you’re actually out of milk or not.

Unfortunately, the only image that LG has shared showing the fridge is a low-resolution shot on its YouTube page banner, but it seems that you’ll be able to still use the screen while it’s translucent, allowing you to tag food directly in a vaguely augmented reality-esque move.
LG is also touting how all of its ThinQ kitchen gadgets can talk to each other to make kitchen tasks easier. So your ThinQ fridge can talk to your EasyClean oven, which will help you cook food through step-by-step instructions from the recipe app from your fridge. Then, your EasyClean oven can notify your QuadWash dishwasher about the kind of meal you cooked, so it can more efficiently select a wash cycle for that dish. Of course, all this requires spending thousands of dollars replacing every appliance in your kitchen (and if this all works as well as LG claims it does), but it’s still an intriguing vision of a Jetsons-like future utopia.
No price or release date for the InstaView ThinQ refrigerator or any of LG’s other new appliances have yet been announced.
