Hi,

HotStar is very popular application in india which allows you to watch tv shows/movies and lot more.

I don't see its app available on LG Store.

Any plan to launch Hotstar app for WebOS Store??

I agree. It's odd that Hotstar doesn't have 4K content given that it's a streaming giant. Thank you so much for the reply. I really appreciate it.

Should come, mught be a little later. I assume you have Netflix and prime video, then there is no reason for hostar not to work. They are rolling out in batches and since yours is an older model you might have to wait a bit.

Please have basic popular apps so that even customer get attracted to LG smart TV's.

Any plan to launch Hotstar app for WebOS Store??

Please read all the messages. The app has already been launched on March 22,2019. Its being rolled out in batches and your tv should get it soon.

Make sure you are on the latest webOS version. Check for any updates.

What tv model do you have and which year?

I got the same mail and have asked them to refund my subscription or make it work by any means. They’ll probably reply in the morning.

I have an 2016 43lh600t and my web os is 3.3 and firmware version in 5.xx.xx.When contacted hotstar i was told it only supports tvs with webos 3.5 and above since their platform is not compatible for webos below 3.5.☹️

But can't you update your version of the WebOS or maybe request for it if it's not manually possible?

I contacted LG team regarding web os update, they said only firmware updates will be given, No webos upgrades

What is the web os version of your tv?.I think its webos 2.0.Hotstar told that only webos 3.5 or above tvs support hotstar

Mine is 2018 65UK6360. Game of thrones plays flawlessly with subtitles on even on the simulcast. The Picture quality is a lot better than Firestick which I was using previously. hotstar is a little unoptimised as compared to other streaming platforms and hence requires more bandwidth. What speed do you have and what tv?

Yeah, I have been using it on my 2018 4K tv since its launch on March 22,2019. The app has some bugs but not a deal breaker. 

Bugs like sometimes it fails to start due to server time mismatch and you have to click on retry once and it starts just fine,  the other is no subtitles in the big bang theory. 

Rest all is good, picture quality is superb , much better than the firestick that I was using earlier. Interface is basically the same.

make sure you are on the latest webOS version. Below 3.5 is not compatible as of now.

EDIT - This has happened the first time yesterday night ,the app has stopped playing anything at all. Server Error. Unable to generate security certificate. 

A lot of people have been facing problems, but i was lucky enough to get away with just an app restart but not today.

Hotstar is the worst.

I have given my feedback to the hotstar tech team and hope the future updates will make it better. They are yet to provide 5.1 sound.They are working on it too.

I cannot find it on my LG Store. I have LG 49UB850T model and currently using the update version 05.05.75. Please help to find the app on LG store.

Sadly I can’t help. It might be they haven’t released it for your model yet. You can write a mail to [email protected] or [email protected] along with these details and they would tell you if they have released the app for your tv. 

If you don’t mind you can factory reset your tv and try , might work, hit or miss.

      The contest began with a staggering 2,496 auditioning online in one of the biggest K-POP talent hunts ever held outside of Korea. The best 281 of them progressed to the next round – regional tournaments held offline in Kohima, Itanagar, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi. From there, 281 became 27 for the semi-finals, with the competition growing more intense and competitive with each passing round.

      The illustrious semi-final judging panel featured esteemed figures Yoonhyeok, Jaemin (NTX), Ha Minwoo, Jay Kim, Ahn Hanbyeol and Sushil Chhetri, each bringing their own expertise and passion to ensure a fair, competitive contest. The evening closed with a live performance by popular K-POP band NTX in front of a 2,500-strong audience, who danced along to their dynamic choreography and captivating music. Twelve semi-finalists, including two LG Wild Card entries, advanced to one of the most highly anticipated events of the year – the grand finale.

      The grand finale, which took place at Yashobhoomi, India’s largest convention center in New Delhi, delivered breathtaking performances, impressing the judges and 4,000 fans in attendance.       The international content on JioCinema and Hotstar apps are not playing. No issues with Indian content in Hindi or other regional languages. But English, Korean, and Japanese content are not playing. Specifically, I want to play Disney content on Hotstar and HBO content on JioCinema App. 
      I tried resetting all configurations and reinstalling the applications and re-logging into the apps. Still, the issue persists. I tried switching off the TV and tried pressing the power button for complete discharge and rebooting my router, but the same issue persists.
      **I found a workaround though, changing the wifi network or using a mobile hotspot on TV and then all content plays well even if I revert to my primary Airtel wifi, It still plays. but the next day the same issue continues.
      It's an overhead to switch the wifi every time I want to watch Hollywood titles. Certainly, it's not the experience I want with a TV of a hefty price tag. No other devices (Mac, ios, android, windows, Android TV) have this problem. Also, it's not the wifi issue, as I can watch the same titles on other devices. The LG TV also doesn't have the capability to remember a few WiFi networks to ease this workaround of switching networks.
      Alas, Nobody informed me about this issue earlier while making the purchase. Now such pricey TVs shouldn't have these issues at all. Kindly let me know If there is a permanent fix for this issue.

      I am using LG TV(UT8050 4K ULTRA HD). Disney hotstar app is running horribly, it is lagging too much and background video auto play making it worse. Can we add an option in it to disable to background video play in next update of Disney hotstar app.
