Question

I am trying to record terrestrial digital programs from my 2016 LG webosTV to a USB stick- if I set up a few programs to record, a few work,  but after a day or two it will fail. and from that point all will fail.

The TV does still try to record, as I can see it pop up a notification if I am watching, but nothing is recorded. (No error message is shown then.)

If I look at the "scheduled recordings" page, it shows an error, and "Unable to load" for the start and end time of the failed show.

If I go to "recording history" for that show, I see a message saying "incomplete, Cable/broadcast service changed programming" but that can't be the case for so many different shows,

There is plenty of space on the USB stick.

I have tried LG support, but they can't tell me what the message means, and suggest returning the TV for repair.

As a side note: I don't usually watch terrestrial TV through the television- we still use Sky (which is why I want to get this working!) I only say that in case it was a reason that show schedule information is not being updated.

Any help or suggestions gratefully received.

Maybe your USB stick is not fast enough or is not working properly.

You could try to stick it into a PC and check the filesystem.

What I did was use a small (500 Gb) cheap HD for recording. Never failed me.

Thanks for the reply,

That is possible.  it doesn’t fit the error message  about  the broadcaster changing the program. But it could fit the.“unable to load “ message,

i’ll give that a try.. thanks.

I tried with a small 500Gb HD instead of the USB stick.

Again it recorded a day or so's worth of shows, but stopped after a day with "Cable/broadcast service changed programming" and nothing else records.

The message "Cable/broadcast service changed programming" looks like your TV is using information from the broadcaster that is buggy.

I don't have terrestrial TV any more so I can't look at the options but can you make recordings using start time and end time without using the electronic guide?

Good luck,

Peter

Possibly, but in that case it would go wrong for everyone recording from Freeview. (and It happens with shows from different broadcasters)

Yes, the TV does have that facility.

I'll try that, although it would not be very practical to use- like programming a VCR in the 80s. :)

This guesswork wouldn't be necessary if LG support could tell us what the error message means in practice.

I remember I tried using this function on the public broadcaster in my country but the results were not good enough. The first recording always went right, but next recordings of a serie didn't work most of the time. I gave up rather quickly.

Even on a VCR in the 80's this didn't work reliable :-)

YMMV

I get exactly the same issue.

Did anyone know of the reason or a solution?

got a 2Tb HDD.

TV EPG seems a bit slow to load sometimes. Could that be a reason why?

Why did the latest WebOS update 03.51,15 change my home screen settings?

webOS updated, I think to 2023, on my C2 a couple of days ago. Since then the News option on the Sky News app no longer works, instead timing out. The Weather and Climate options still work, though.
I have deleted and reloaded the Sky News app, but the problem remains.
Does anybody have any suggestions of what I might try to get this working again, or is this something for LG, or Sky, to fix?
