Hi,

This seemingly is a common problem with some webOS, beyond checking your firmware is up to date I'm afraid to say there appears there is nothing you can do.

I find with YouTube it happens infrequently but especially when I am flicking back and forth amongst different sections.  How often is it happening for you?

I get this every time i try to look at a youtube recording of more than about ten minutes. It didnt happen when i first bought the tv about a year aho. I have tried all the "solutions" posted on the forum. I have a 55mbps fibre broadband so buffering should not be an issue. If it is a firmware issue then lg should fix it nut it seems they do nothing.

Mine does not do it frequently, but does so arbitrarily, which is extremely annoying when watching live sporting events! What does LG say about it, or are we all just complaining into the wind?

This problem with YouTube/WebOS has been seen for at least three years. Neither LG or Google are interested in fixing it or so it seems. Calls to LG Support are not helpful either. YouTube was updated the other day and the out of memory error is now more frequent than before!

Suggest people buy Samsung or Panasonic instead of LG  as even my six years old Toshiba has a better smart tv OS than this awful WebOS rubbish.

LG has not got the balls to own up to the problem. If I've spent good money on their product, why should I now go and buy another product, because this one is up to shit? Fix the software, or recall the product to add more memory! Last LG I would ever buy!

Totally agree. There are far too many apologists for LG on this forum prepared to put up with 3rd rate software on expensive LG TV's pretending to offer 'smart TV' functionality when in reality a cheap  HDMI streaming stick or Android box will do a far better job at a tenth of the cost.

Guess many people see the  reviews from dealers and and others and believe a TV will actually do what the manufacturers claim but that is not their fault is it? Forums like this are either a 'sap' to keep  LG/WebOS tech support calls to a minimum or total baloney because as far as I can see LG or the WebOS team take not the blindest bit of notice either way.

Many of my apps I use for streaming, Amazon, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, UKTV have never crashed or need restarting.

LG are not going to try fixing a 3rd party piece of software, and physical memory capacity may not be the issue.  Bad memory management by the app may be the problem.

Just got off the phone to lg support. I was told the web browser shuts down when attempting to stream video ON PURPOSE! Furthermore, once you stream anything from the internet, the cache fills up, does not clear, and prevents the installed apps from functioning properly.  I was told that the OS is a web browser NOT a web streaming service and if they allow customers access to stream video they will be in breach of their contractual agreement to the companies who have apps on the TV. This clearly doesn't happen on tablets or phones, so their logic for creating a sub par product is utter bollocks. I specifically asked the salesman if I could stream video from the internet and was told absolutely yes. When I pointed this out to Lg customer service they re-iterated that a web browser does not confer the ability to stream video. This is misleading the customer, and effectively censoring and filtering internet content.  This must stop!

After one week we're getting a "short of memory " screen warning before TV shuts off and restarts . I've not loaded any apps but I've managed now to delete one . I've checked that the apps are updated . I'm thinking that I can rid myself if the games but not sure how to do this ..I'm a bit baffled that a one week old TV can't cope with it's pre- installed apps ?!

Just bought an LGLED-65UJ630 65INCH TV. Right away I started to get the message "This app will now restart to free up more memory". After searching the internet and forums, I now understand that this problem is huge, it has been going on for years now and it is right across many models of LG TV's.
I have tried everything to fix this problem. It has the latest firmware. I did the factory reset and that lasted 4 hours before I got the message back. I turn off the TV and leave it for 10 minutes, maybe one hour later I get the message. I delete browsing history, maybe 10 minutes and I get the message..... you get the message.
As I understand it, the problem is that LG TV's don't have enough internal memory, but they have shipped a ton of their "smart" TV's with this problem.
My question is, has anybody heard anything from anybody, anywhere about a solution to this problem. I really want to keep this TV, but it is not fit for purpose in this state.
