published where they claim they have webos 5.0 on their LG TV.  See below.

webos 5.3

Note : You can’t directly go from WebOS 3.5 to WebOS 5.3 .

My experience after using LG LH 604 T Full HD Version review after using it for 4 months.

What did we checked before switching or buying this Television ?

  • The picture quality, price, Miracast to mirror my laptop screen and ability to stream 1080p  video without any problem.

Is there a non FHD version ?

  • Yes and the price is lower and all the specs same as that of FHD version.

Every thing in short after my 4 months of experience.

Pros

  • Super sharp display (FHD, IPS Panel) and viewing angles
  • Cheaper than other bands
  • Dust won’t settle on your screen, but on other parts dust may settle if you are living a dusty region
  • WebOS frequently updated with patches
  • Eye comfort mode
  • Good sound quality
  • Supports almost all video and audio formats like MKV, AVI, DiviX, AAC etc
  • Inbuilt apps for Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and some country specific apps
  • Support for Miracast or screen sharing or Inter WiDi. Note WiDi is used only in old laptops models
  • Screen can be turned off, when playing only music.
  • Remote with pointer mouse, so you can type songs or movie names quickly in YouTube, Netflix etc on the on screen keyboard. Also when you connect or mirror your laptop screen to this TV, remote pointer can be used as mouse and there is scroller on the remote. But only double click supported, no right nor left clicks
  • Subtitles in the video is supported
  • 2 Years LG warranty (Note this is country specific, so do ask your seller about this)
  • Very less power consumption, screen consumes 4% of power, speakers consumes (20 Watt) 3% of total power input

Cons

  • TV lags
  • Sound mode can’t be changed quickly like picture mode
  • No support for wireless headphones
  • Web browser closes after we viewed around 15 1080p YouTube videos, it says out of memory and during restart of the browser the crashed web page is shown for us to continue playing videos
  • In built YouTube app settings has no option to set resolution of video to play only 1080p videos
  • Universal remote costs around $75 if you need to buy a new one, note : till now there are no probs with my universal which I clubbed with my set top box (CISCO one) and all functions are supported
  • During Miracast laptop mouse lags and still now I don’t know how to solve this issue.
  • Documents like docx,PDF can’t be opened from flash drive or hard drive, but from Miracast its possible.

Does it support USB mode of android mobiles ?

  • My Sony Xperia USB mode supported but my lenovo USB mode not supported and this is weird!

Final Thought

For this price and with this much features loaded, we say its a good go one.

If you need any info or clarify any doubts about this model, just drop a comment and I will answer that for you in a working day.

That’s just the software version that their TV is on, not the webOS version.  To view the webOS version you click the TV Information button that sits right below the check for updates button.

In other words, there is no webOS 5 yet, and given that web OS 4.0 has yet to be released to the public there probably won’t be a web OS 5 for at least another year.

The is a difference between the software version and the firmware version of webOS.  You want to find your firmware version to tell you exactly which webOS you are running.

My TV has software version 05.30.20 and firmware 3.3.3-4202 (dreadlocks-dharug), meaning I am running not webOS 5 but webOS 3.x.x

Company Enhances Smart Home Connectivity With Open API

SEOUL, Dec. 17, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) has fully opened the Application Programming Interface (API) of its smart home platform, LG ThinQ, enabling developers to easily create smart spaces with LG appliances.
Recently, LG launched the LG Smart Solution API Developer website (
link hidden, please login to view) to officially open up the LG ThinQ API. An API acts as a digital connector that allows different software to exchange functions seamlessly. Developers can utilize the open API to integrate various features from LG AI appliances into their programs or systems, enhancing their services. The LG ThinQ API is divided into two categories: the ThinQ API for individual users and the ThinQ Business API for corporate partners. The ThinQ API allows for remote control of LG devices installed in homes or buildings and facilitates integration with various platforms.
For individual users, the ThinQ API supports the control and monitoring of AI appliances registered in the LG ThinQ app from various smart home platforms. By utilizing the ThinQ API, anyone can easily create a customized smart home that fits their lifestyle. For example, users of the global smart home platform Home Assistant can now connect and control 26 types of LG AI appliances, including refrigerators and washing machines, within their existing smart home environment. Home Assistant is a community-based open platform with about one million users worldwide who collaboratively develop various smart home functions such as device automation and feature expansion.
For enterprises, the ThinQ Business API supports partners operating office or residential buildings in integrating and managing various LG products, from appliances to commercial equipment like HVAC and signage, with their existing apps. For instance, large residential buildings can integrate LG appliances with their existing management apps for more convenient use. Residents can reserve the use of LG washers and dryers in common areas through the building management app, or administrators can detect abnormal conditions in the building using LG’s temperature and humidity sensors and quickly respond to issues through alert functions.
Meanwhile, LG has accelerated the integration of external products and services into the LG ThinQ platform by acquiring the smart home platform company Athom, known for its extensive IoT device connectivity. Athom’s smart home hub Homey currently connects over 50,000 types of appliances and IoT devices, and the Athom app store features around 1,000 apps that connect and control products and services from global brands like Philips and Aqara. LG plans to integrate Athom’s extensive open ecosystem and IoT device connectivity into the AI home hub LG ThinQ On, aiming to realize an AI home where generative AI better understands customers and provides optimal space solutions.
“With the official launch of ThinQ AI, we aim to deepen engagement with open-source community smart home power users in the open-source community and broaden our collaboration with B2B partners. This initiative will bolster our efforts to create smart home ecosystems powered by LG appliances, enhancing customer experiences across multiple touchpoints,” said Kim Kun-woo, vice president of LG’s Home Appliance Solution Company.

Samsung has made fridges with touchscreens before. LG has made fridges with doors that turn transparent to show you the inside. This year at CES 2018, those two ideas are finally merging into one with LG’s new InstaView ThinQ smart refrigerator, which features a 29-inch touchscreen that becomes transparent if users knock on it twice.
LG actually tried this two years ago, with a version called the Smart InstaView Door-in-Door that ran a full version of Windows 10, but it’s not clear that the company ever shipped the Windows version.
This version uses the touchscreen to manage your food using LG’s webOS software and Amazon’s Alexa, which will let you tag food with virtual stickers and expiration dates and get automatic reminders when things are running low or about to go bad. There’s also a wide-angle panoramic camera on the inside of the fridge that will let you remotely view your fridge while you’re out and about to check and see if you’re actually out of milk or not.

Unfortunately, the only image that LG has shared showing the fridge is a low-resolution shot on its YouTube page banner, but it seems that you’ll be able to still use the screen while it’s translucent, allowing you to tag food directly in a vaguely augmented reality-esque move.
LG is also touting how all of its ThinQ kitchen gadgets can talk to each other to make kitchen tasks easier. So your ThinQ fridge can talk to your EasyClean oven, which will help you cook food through step-by-step instructions from the recipe app from your fridge. Then, your EasyClean oven can notify your QuadWash dishwasher about the kind of meal you cooked, so it can more efficiently select a wash cycle for that dish. Of course, all this requires spending thousands of dollars replacing every appliance in your kitchen (and if this all works as well as LG claims it does), but it’s still an intriguing vision of a Jetsons-like future utopia.
No price or release date for the InstaView ThinQ refrigerator or any of LG’s other new appliances have yet been announced.
