Disable quick start + from the settings and do a reset to initial settings, this method worked for me.
Won't this delete all my settings, devices and changes?

Yes, but that is sort of the point.

YouTube, Plex and Amazon are the most frequently used apps on my TV.  I cannot recall Amazon ever restarting, Plex has not had an issue since about five revisions ago and even then it was only once or twice.  YouTube has been the most unstable app, which to me says it is more of a programming than an OS/hardware issue.  The latest YouTube update hit my TV a couple of days ago and currently it has been behaving itself, having watched over nearly hours worth of videos without an issue.

In my case, the 3 most used apps for me are netflix, youtube and plex. I have so far no problems with netflix and youtube. But for plex, i encounter stutters and buffers endlessly (source content is streamed via a local server) . While i have yet to encounter app restart issues, I'm looking for how to actually FORCE an app restart. I've been a plex user across platforms and have not had any problems streaming from the same source. But plex for webos gives me grief. I thought a force restart would solve it. My questions are:
1. How do you force close a webos app? (not just remove it from recents)
2. How do you reboot the lg smart tv without taking out the plug? (this is unrelated but couldn't find an answer for this anywhere)

P. S. apologies to the threadstarter for hijacking the thread a bit. Now back to regular programming.

Had the same issue with YouTube restarting. Tried all the suggestions mentioned above but none worked. Finally another forum member found that having both Ethernet and WiFi connections running was the causing the restart problem. I did have bother type of wired and wireless connections so turned off the WiFi wherever I could in Settings and voila restart problem fixed for me.

Hi all thanks but I found that if you make sure that you exit the app you are on then the system on the app shouldn't reboot with the situation  and I have no trouble for a while now so if anyone else has this situation just make sure you exit the app that you are on whether netflix iplayer youtube etc and it should not reset the app thanks again

On our LG G1 OLED, when watching a program on Binge, the Binge app restarts itself every 20 minutes or so with a message about needing to restart to free up memory. Power-cycling the TV doesn't fix the problem, nor does running the "Memory Optimiser" function from system settings. None of the other streaming service apps we have on the TV have this problem - Prime Video, Stan, Netflix, Disney+, Britbox, ABC iView, SBS On Demand, Youtube. Those are the only other apps installed on the TV. I've checked the LG WebOS version and checked for app updates, and everything is latest version.
If I run the Binge Android app on my Chromecast with Google TV, it works without any problems when streaming the same programs.

Since the latest update to the Binge app on my LG G1 OLED, whenever I try to watch any program on Binge, about every ten minutes or so the app puts up a message on screen saying that it needs to restart to recover memory, and then restarts. And when I go back to the program, the app doesn't remember how much of the program has already been viewed, and starts again from the beginning - I have to fast forward through it to get to the correct point.
None of the other streaming apps I use on the TV - Netflix, Prime Video, Stan, Apple TV - have any such problem, and if I switch to viewing using Chromecast with Google TV, which has the Android Binge app installed on it, I can stream programs from Binge without any such problem.

I have a problem in browser. My tv is restarting by itself after i play some videos online. On some website's it's working but more website's are not working. In the past it was working great, but after some updates it went to disaster. Past six months it's always restarting. Also on some website's i get message that my browser doesn't support this video but in the past it was working. Looks like LG removed support with new updates. I will never buy lg tv again terrible experience. Android is the way to go. They don't even have another browser to download from the store.

      It displays a message.
THIS APP WILL RESTART TO FREE MEMORY, THEN RESTARTS THEN SAME MESSAGE IN A LOOP.

My apps keeps closing to "free up memory." It started in Netflix, but it's even happening when I'm in the content store and/or trying to install or removing apps.
