I buy a new LG 55 C7V and it is a smart TV, but ther is no way to connect to my Synology NAS.

I want connect to my recorder films on my NAS, but i can not see any App to represent a solution.

Is ther any way to connect to my NAS with the LG C7 with the new WEBOS 3.5?

I would recommend Plex Media Server for the back-end if your Synology NAS is capable of running it, which available  from their Packages or direct from Plex.  There is a Plex webOS client available for the front-end.

Currently, to my knowledge, there is no way to just browse to a file share (if that is how you have things set up) and just play a file from it.

You could also look at using DLNA which both devices should support.

Incredible lg have not yet a ds app, Samsung, Sony ... every tvs sellers have it.

plex works With freezes and the dlna is the past.

really bad, lg. In the store are a Lot of absurds apps, rt , red bull, son tv? ... but some necessary like ds Video no. 🤷🏻‍♂️

On the contraryy...also the standard 'music' app can browse the Synology NAS and play all formats, compressed as well as lossless. Good luck!

I have a DS1815+ and it’s working perfectly with my C7V. I enjoy 4K by installing media server on the Synology and browsing with the video and audio app of the TV.

Don’t forget to set the correct shares on the Syno!

Great news friends! We just don't need anymore DS Vídeo (too many years preying to release this shit), now something really better is available, please install the emby server on the Diskstation, and the Emby app on your LG Smart TV (webos 3.0 or later), just one word: FANTASTIC!

P.s. Plex runs as a vomit.

also looking for some native webos app. for public media, got Plex. much better than Emby (more subtitles, CC subtitles, higher reliability, no crashes, better UI, way faster indexing). but i dont want to put private media there. for that purpose, i want separate app.

Hello, LG Webos does support Lionsgate play???

Youtube only lets you type numbers, and not letters. Amazon doesn't let you type anything unless you use the really really really slow onscreen keyboard. It's ruining the tv experience. Can't search for topics or shows without the slow drugery of the slow remote and onscreen keyboard.

With so few apps available, I find the need to use the janky included browser. It's bad enough but having to type in my account AND password every time? I love that the apps I *can* download work great -- even when I'm at the end of my data plan and everything is hampered by the slower speed!
You'd think something called "WebOS" would work with.. the web... a little more reliably. Let us download JioPages, OpenBrowser, SOMETHING that makes our TVs easier to use.

do they want me to upgrade my TV or use an Amazon Firestick to do anything useful? planned obsolescence again! FFS I have 70’s video games that work, but a TV bought a few years ago has been made obsolete by auto upgrades that if i don’t accept I am reprimanded by support and told to accept?
