No Universal Control option in device connector

Question

Posted

Dears,

While trying to set up universal control for my surround sound (so I dont need the extra remote) I've been facing the following difficulty.

When I go through the steps in device connector I never get the option for set universal control. After simplink  (which is off) I just have the option "done" no next to set up manufacturer to control it via the "universal" remote function on my magic remote.

Device: Oled55c7v-z + magic remote

Tried already:

Factory reset, change service location, adding different devices (never does the option appear), hard power cycle, and disconnecting and connecting the devices.

Same thing here Erich. I tried connecting magic LG Remote to my set-top-box, and I notice that for some devices in the Device Connector list, the menu in the upper right corner goes to done right away and for some devices it goes to Simplink first as you explain and then to done again. I never get the chance to reach a menu out of which to choose my T-Home set-top-box, from a list of manufacturers, or furthermore try and test the working optional remotes, as they explain on the tutorials.

Did you by any chance found a solution to this, since I try resolve it as of yesterday, and cannot find any other thread on this topic on the web. The restart, power off and back on, as well as disconnecting and reconnecting devices did not do the trick too.

After many changes to the menu and trying to find options, what allowed me to search for manufacturers is changing the Broadcast location in the settings menu. In the general settings set the Broadcast location to UK, US or Germany. It will restart the services and allow you to do further and register a set top box providers. However the local manufacturers may be not available so you will have to search for substitute. For example my Arris set top box is not available in the list so i am searching for other manufacturers which codes could work. Not all provoders/manufacturers are readily available so it is a hit or miss game. Good luck.

The lineup also includes the new LG gram Pro (model 16Z90TS), the first Copilot+ PC in the gram series. Measuring just 0.49 inches thick and weighing 2.73 pounds, it delivers remarkable portability. Another highlight is the 16Z90TR, boasting a 16-inch display and an impressively light weight of only 2.64 pounds. As the lightest model in the 2025 gram Pro lineup, it exemplifies gram’s signature lightweight design while delivering powerful performance.
Additionally, the highly versatile LG gram Pro 2-in-1 (model 16T90TP) has been recognized with a CES 2025 Innovation Award for its outstanding design and functionality. Offering incredible flexibility, the device comes with a wirelessly chargeable stylus pen that expands and enhances the user experience.
To expand its U.S. market presence, LG is introducing the LG gram Book (model 15U50T), an entry-level model offering key features and benefits of the gram series at a more accessible price. The gram Book has a 15.6-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) display, expandable storage options, a 720p HD webcam with privacy shutter, and a slim and light design for take-anywhere convenience.
All new gram laptops support gram Link 2.0, an upgraded version of the gram Link feature first introduced last year. gram Link 2.0 facilitates seamless device connectivity across operating systems,2 allowing users to easily share content and transfer files with a diverse range of PC and mobile products, including iOS and Android-based smartphones. This feature also allows users to handle incoming phone calls directly on their gram laptops, minimizing workflow interruptions.

      Hello,
      I have a new C4 TV.
Here is the problem I am facing, as well as a suggestion for improvement.

When you have an acoustic deficiency, it is much easier to use a headset (via bluetooth).
But the only current option is to switch the sound to the internal speakers when you activate the bluetooth.
It is still a shame to penalize other people who watch TV by no longer allowing the use of a good sound installation that you have (sound bar, ...) because a person needs an acoustic aid.
Would it be possible to add this combination (optical output + bluetooth) to satisfy everyone?
I add that I tried to place an optical splitter to combine the 2, however, there is a bug apparently because as soon as you turn off the headset, there is a white rectangle which probably indicates an error that appears very briefly but every few seconds, which makes TV viewing impossible.
      Thanks for the follow-up

A Trusted Supplier of Vehicle Solutions, Company Earns
Security Certification for Its Transceiver Module for Volkswagen

SEOUL, Aug. 26, 2024 — LG Electronics’ (LG) Vehicle to Everything (V2X) solution for Volkswagen has received the world’s first Common Criteria (CC) certification for security stability in the V2X device category. The certification reinforces LG’s leading position in the global automotive components market and highlights its advanced capabilities in vehicle cybersecurity, an area that continues to grow in importance in the connected car era.
The recipient of the new CC certification, LG’s VW Transceiver Module, is a telematics component designed exclusively for Volkswagen’s internal combustion engine-specific MQB platform. An internationally recognized standard for IT product security, CC certification indicates that a device provides comprehensive protection against unauthorized access or interference. The module has also met the stringent security standards set by Spain’s National Cryptologic Centre (CCN), earning an Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 2+ rating.
V2X technology allows vehicles to communicate with systems, devices and technologies in the surrounding area, including other vehicles (V2V), traffic infrastructure (V2I) and, via smartphones, pedestrians (V2P). Without robust security, V2X devices and networks could be compromised by hackers, potentially leading to traffic congestion, accidents or data breaches. LG is proactive in addressing V2X security threats, ensuring that its advanced telematics components comply with Europe’s increasingly strict security regulations, thereby providing peace of mind to drivers and passengers.
LG is committed to meeting the highest standards for vehicle security, and will continue to provide competitive auto solutions that prioritize safety and reliability. After earning CC certification for its transceiver module for Volkswagen’s MQB platform, LG plans to achieve the same for its V2X solution intended for Volkswagen’s MEB electric vehicle platform within the year.
In addition to obtaining security certifications for its V2X solutions, LG is enhancing security across all areas of its automotive electronics business. In 2022, LG Vehicle component Solutions (VS) Company received the Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange (TISAX) certification and, last February, gained Cyber Security Management System (CSMS) certification from TÜV Rheinland.
“By earning CC certification for the security of our V2X solution for Volkswagen, we have effectively demonstrated our superior component technology and security capabilities, both of which are key elements for success in the future mobility sector,” said Eun Seok-hyun, president of LG Vehicle component Solutions Company. “LG will continue to solidify its position in the global automotive parts market, delivering innovative, secure solutions that ensure safer roads for all.”

I have several LG Webos TVs.  One started doing this a long while back.  Just this week another started doing the same. They have streaming devices on hdmi ports.  To change channels and general navigation i could always use the up down left right buttons.  But now I get the he hdmi port with the multi audio icon below.  Something has to have been toggled to make this happen.  Factory reset doesn’t fix it.  How do I access my streaming device from my lg remote again?
