OLED55C8: Can I have a different source on power up?

NikD63

Question

I just got an OLED55C8. I won't have a cable or antenna connection to it, nor will I have any other devices physically connected to it. So there are no input sources to choose from. Everything I view will be coming through WiFi.

Whenever I turn on the TV, it comes on with the TV source selected. And because I have no signal sources connected to it I get a random noise picture and sound. If the volume was up high on the previous viewing, the random noise is pretty loud. It can be pretty jarring at times.

Is there some way I can set it so that upon power-up one of my streaming apps, such as YouTube TV or Netflix, is selected? Or can it come on with the volume off and on the home screen? If not, is there some way I can at least set the default volume level used at power on?

There is another thread on this.... given the small number of views/comments to this one....let's move it to the other.....

But quickly.... you are not alone.... it's a stupid "feature" that was great when the family used to gather round and watch the radio.....

That's a real bummer. I only have YouTube TV. It really disrupts the user experience having to select the input every single time and wait for YouTube TV to open. Would be a very nice feature to have being able to change the startup to any app.

In response to your concern, there is no option to disable Live TV as it is the default input of the unit when there are no external devices connected to it. When the TV is powered back on, it will display the last input used. If you did not use an external device before turning off the TV, it will show Live TV as it is the only connection available through coaxial. It is also not possible for the unit to go back to the last application before it was turned on. This is because an application will close once you exit the app screen.

Following up on this...you can start using quickstart and hold down the 1 key once the TV is on, but is there a way to automatically start an app when you power the TV on without having to do this? I want to have YouTube TV start when I press the power button.

My TV has a magic remote, so no 1 key to press. Is there an equivalent for magic remote?

Imagine a world where every moment is savored and each experience deeply cherished. This life of fulfillment is no longer a distant dream but a reality, thanks to LG’s bold optimism and relentless drive to innovate. The company’s goal is to shape a future where it’s easy to appreciate the smaller things in life and where Life’s Good for everyone, no matter where they live.

In line with this dedication to creating a happier, more connected future for all, LG Saudi Arabia organized its first-ever K-POP World Festival on August 3 at JAX District’s Cultural and Art zone in Riyadh. To foster cultural unity and mutual respect, LG invited the nation’s biggest K-pop enthusiasts to promote a special and vibrant cultural exchange between Saudi Arabia and South Korea.
The warehouse was packed with excited fans, who created an incredibly energetic atmosphere as each act performed. The local fan base’s devotion to the world’s fastest-growing music genre was demonstrated by the hundreds of people outside who couldn’t get inside, decked out in traditional clothes like hijabs and abayas while singing and dancing to their favorite Korean songs. The festival was a perfect picture of how K-pop has found a special place in Saudi hearts, harmonizing with the local culture.

With 30 teams from across Saudi Arabia competing in the preliminaries, the best 10 progressed to the final. After a fiercely contested final showdown, the coveted title was awarded to the Saudi female trio dance group, Everlast, who captivated the audience with a dynamic performance and their undeniable talent. This victory qualifies Everlast for the K-pop festival finals which will be held in Changwon, South Korea, in October.

The winners each received a premium LG product, such as an XBOOM speaker, CineBeam Q projector, LG InstaView Refrigerator or LG OLED Posé TV. These high-end prizes, which reflect LG’s dedication to recognizing top talent and promoting technological innovation, were also showcased during the festival to let attendees interact with and experience the company’s latest offerings in person.

Under the partnership of the Korean Embassy in Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Culture of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Entertainment Academy (SEA) and LG, this vibrant celebration of two unique cultures underscored the strengthening cultural and diplomatic relations between the two nations.

On LG OLEDs. You go on and disable SIMPLINK. Fine. But everytime you turn on your HDMI device it enables itself back again. This happens because they have disables two key features that were present in previous OSs, as you can see clearly here
link hidden, please login to view (they even put screencaps of the menus where you see the missing options in the 23) These functions are Auto Power Sync and Auto Device Detection.
Man updates are supposed to add functionalities not the other way around. It's very annoying to turn on your TV and have your AVR turn on without you wanting to.

Anyone found a solution for this problem?

I'm having this problem with LG Oled 65c16LA with WebOs Version 03.40.85
When I turn off the TV, it goes into standby mode.
After 2 minutes the red standby LED turns off and it is no longer possible to turn the TV back on with the remote or with the power on button.
It is then necessary to unplug the power supply, wait a few minutes and reconnect it.
So the TV goes back to standby and you can turn it on again. In use everything works.
Is it a software problem? How can I solve it?
      Thank you
