WEBOS 3.0 BROWSER DOES NOT SUPPORT HTML5

Question

Posted

Hi, the webos default browser does not support html5. Using the default browser, I went to Netflix site, login and when I tired to play any movie, I get redirected that the browser does not support html5.

Can LG release an update to fix this. I am on webos 3.0.2.

Hi,

The webOS browser does support HTML5, much has been written on the subject:

Simply; Netflix's site is not designed to work with the webOS browser.  Different browsers have differing levels of support for HTML5, JavaScript etc, as all browser are not created equal content providers need to code accordingly.

Very odd, could you post both the models of your TVs and which one does and does not have the LG Content?

Hopefully someone can then shed some light on the issue.

webOS updated, I think to 2023, on my C2 a couple of days ago. Since then the News option on the Sky News app no longer works, instead timing out. The Weather and Climate options still work, though.
I have deleted and reloaded the Sky News app, but the problem remains.
Does anybody have any suggestions of what I might try to get this working again, or is this something for LG, or Sky, to fix?

Hi everyone, I have a recent problem with my lg smart tv web browser. TV's model is 50UH635V and I've noticed that the browser can't open certain websites showing the message "the browser is no longer supported". Is there any solution to this? Can I install a 3rd party browser to my TV, like mozilla, chrome, something like that?
