I think this couldn't possible cause on the Philips TVs don't use a software to do this feature, but only WiFi enlaced with the HUE bridge and iOS App. And it's only works in selecteds Philips A

YES. PLEASE ADD THIS!

I can currently do "free" or non-DRM content using Hue Sync from a PC but it would be a HUGE feature to add this natively to WebOS. Application needs to send information about the displayed colors on a given area of the screen to the Hue Bridge over WiFi link. Hue Bridge would then tell the Hue Lights how and when to change color values. 

As there is no way to output video from the TV, the content providers should not have any DRM concerns. This would be the absolute cleanest solution and at least in the US market and would funnel so many buyers towards LG units. 

Summary of wish:

  • Feature to be added to the "all settings" menu somewhere under display
  • Selection enables the TV to run Hue Sync software
  • TV then connects to the Hue Bridge on customer premises
  • Whatever content is displayed on the TV screen from whatever source (streaming, cable box, etc.) is analyzed by Hue Sync software for color/placement information
  • TV sends color and screen area information in real time to Hue Bridge
  • Hue Bridge tells Hue Lights the appropriate color adjustments to make

Would it be possible to get some kind of low-resolution image of the current output of the TV?
I.e. a picture of 16 x 9 pixels with the correct averages would be more than enough to build a DIY ambient light.

PS: I do understand that outputting the image is not possible with the DRM in place. But a downscaled version may be possible?

No more need to buy a Philips Ambilight TV if LG would implement a Hue Sync app. I sure do hope that there is no restrictive agreement on that subject between Philips and LG.

Or LG could just ignore this feature and wonder why their sales drop when competition releases this feature. That is not a very easy to implement feature and the first non-Phillips TV producer that does that will have a clear marketing advantage.

And it's only works in selecteds Philips Ambilight TV models. I have an Philips Ambilght 42 5000 series and works fine with HUE bridge from first and second generation, and would be very good working with my LG Oled 55B7P too.

But, how I told before, I believe it's not possible.

I hope my information can will be usefull.

Seconded! It will be really useful to have as a native app an ambilight and/or hue sync app on the WebOS app market, and it will increase the value of the WebOS devices in front of their competitors (you can play it on Android tvs).

Just as a reminder... It's a TV. Not a PC. You probably already have a phone emulating one 🙂

Better focus on getting the key features of the device right. And those are picture and sound.

      I have an LG C2 OLED TV. I have noticed that whenever I connect any player (Bluray or Set-top box) through HDMI and watch DV content with Bluetooth earbuds/headphones connected to the TV, the video's DV metadata is out of sync and causes delayed brightness change at every scene cut. In addition to that, I also see this weird outline for any moving objects in the scene as well.
      This issue doesn't happen if I watch the DV content directly through the Webos player itself and I have watched a lot of stuff that way. The issue also doesn't happen if I watch standard HDR10 stuff through an HDMI player. It is only weirdly specific to the scenario where the DV content is played through an external player through HDMI and a Bluetooth audio device is connected to the TV. The issue again doesn't happen in the case of DV content playing through HDMI without any Bluetooth device connected to the TV.
      It would be great if someone could confirm this is the case with their TV as well, and if anyone has any idea on why this is happening and what can be done to fix it.

      LG SIMPLINK keeps turning back on since webOS 23 update. Auto Power Sync missing.

      On LG OLEDs. You go on and disable SIMPLINK. Fine. But everytime you turn on your HDMI device it enables itself back again. This happens because they have disables two key features that were present in previous OSs, as you can see clearly here
      link hidden, please login to view (they even put screencaps of the menus where you see the missing options in the 23) These functions are Auto Power Sync and Auto Device Detection.
      Man updates are supposed to add functionalities not the other way around. It's very annoying to turn on your TV and have your AVR turn on without you wanting to.

      Anyone found a solution for this problem?

      Hello,
      I’m French sorry for my poor english
      I was wondering if it’s possible to disable simplink (or only auto sync on) only on 1 HDMI device.
      I have an LG C1, multiple HDMI devices which work perfectly with simplink, except an LG Blu-ray 4K player (UP970).
      When I turn on a device, it turns on the TV, great! But if the Blu-ray
      player was the last device I used, and I turn everything off, and then
      I turn on a device, the TV then turns on and shows first the HDMI
      Blu-ray player input (with no signal), then it shows the HDMI input of
      the device I turned on, and finally the Blu-ray player turns on and
      the TV switches back to the HDMI Blu-ray player input...
       
      Any ideas on how to fix this?

      I have LG 65C1,  Denon x4300h（arc monitor 1 was broken, but monitor 2 is working ）,
      and what I would like to know is,
      can LG TV's autopower sync works?
      I mean I want to turn on TV using  the LG remote control,
      then my Denon x4300h could turn on automatically,
      when I turn off TV, then Denon turn off automatically.
      I tried many ways to test it, I open all the functions about hdmi control, hdmi cec, simplink, autopower sync...
      but it still doesn't work,
      how could I solve it?
      Or LG TV  just can't do it?
