I’m an owner of OLED55C8PJA. It’s an OLED SMART THINQ TV. I have spent lots of money in this. Anyway, I can’t see Sinhala Subtitles whenever I’m watching movies using this TV. But it supports Sinhala language. It even has menu language and keyboard language in “Sinhala”. But Srt Subtitle files that has Sinhala language cannot see.I have tried to set to encoding to UTF-8 also. But no luck!

hope you will know solution for me.

Thanks

Maybe the player cannot handle the Sinhala language.

You could try to use something else. What I do is use a Plex server on my computer and use the Plex app on the LG TV. This works great.

Good luck.

yahh.. it is strange.. i have UM7300PTA 4K tv, it does show sinhala fonts.. in the user agreement etc... however does not shw sinhal subtitle... when i was asking with Abans (LG locals service provider) people they said it should work... but sadly not...

i guess we should have representation from Abans here to see what problems are facing by the SL people...

Hey guys! I have found a solution for this. Install Plex Player on LG app store. And use Plex server on Your Windows PC. Currently there is no way to play via usb to show Sinhala subtitles as I think. Rename your srt file as example - example.sin.srt.  Then you are good to go!

yahh with PLEX it works... but wonder how.. i have serviio also in my DLNA server.. that does not get sinhala subs from the same folder but PLEX does..

anyway lets hope Abans will add Sinhala in the next WebOS update.. mind you Tamil is already  there...

No, you setup a plex server, this can be your day to day computer. After this you can stream movies from your computer to the plex app on your LG TV, More info on  plex website

Hello , There is no setting to select subtitles for series and movies, I tried clicking on the colors on the remote, but nothing worked, I poked around in settings and found nothing. I sent several emails to the company, but no response was received. I remember that there was an option in the previous version, who has the same problem and what can be done?

Silly question by me, but it seems that I can't find subtitle button on LG ThinQ app on my mobile phone? Anyone knows if we can select subtitles through the LG ThinQ app?

On my LG 60SJ850T, Watching Horizon from AppleTV streaming service. Western with some scenes with Apache language being spoken. No subtitles appearing. When CC is on, see “foreign language being spoken”. When viewed on iPhone, there are subtitles. Have tried same movie using chrome cast TV, and casting from iPhone to Apple TV device. Never get subtitles. Verified subtitles work when I stream to same chromecast TV connected to a different TV.

reset LG TV to factory settings after trying all available CC and subtitle settings on TV. Still no subtitles.

      Hi all,

      I'm Danny and have a problem with my LG OLED65C8;

since a few months when playing movies, either from my Syno NAS or just plain USB, subtitles are being displayed double (over or above eachother) or are displayed for sometimes minutes after the sentence's been spoken. The videofiles haven't got any hardcoded subs but either subs included in the mkv container or as separate srt of ssa file. Disabling subs removes the display of subs, enabling subs results in double or persistent subs.

Subtitles have been disabled in the accessability menu, factory reset did not help.

I searched but as far as I can see this problem has not been discussed yet, also googled and never came across this problem. Perhaps someone here can help?

      Kind regards, Danny
      ----------------
      SOLUTION, for me at least:

I used ColorControl to reboot the TV. It's weird that a factory reset did not work but a simple reboot did.
