When trying to load the Plex app on an LGWebOs smart TV, app says :-

CHECK NETWORK CONNECTION    Error CODE : -337

This may be a temporary issue. 
Please try again later. 

(RETRY)     (EXIT APP)

 

  • Firstly my network connection is fine. Netflix and YouTube loads and runs just seamlessly.
  • This has only been happening in the last few months
  • If I (RETRY) after a long wait sometimes it connects and loads correctly or I get the same error again.
  • I have tried other Plex clients on my home server and they work just fine. 

Specs:

  • LG OLED65C8PTA TV running Web OS 04.10.15.
  • LG Plex client app is version 2.1.6 from Sep 2016
  • Plex server is on my QNAP NAS and at version 1.13.5.291 from Sep 2018.

I guess my question is, if the LG Plex client app hasn't changed since 2016 and my Plex server is working for other clients, then what is going wrong?

Not sure what your problem is but you can try xplay which is a plex client.  You can get it from the app store.  They keep it updated.  FYI:  my plex app works and I actually use both apps.  Sorry I can't be more helpful with your main issue.

Since I originally posted this question, several things have happened. I have had several different versions of the Plex Server App on my QNAP NAS, and also there has been an update to the Plex Client App on the LG TV. Anyhow the upshot of all this is that my Plex on LG has been working well for about 6 month or so now, and to be quite honest, I'm not sure what has resolved the issue. I did not try your method, only because my thought was if it is working now then don't change anything... ;-)

What you said in your YT video made sense though.

      webOS updated, I think to 2023, on my C2 a couple of days ago. Since then the News option on the Sky News app no longer works, instead timing out. The Weather and Climate options still work, though.
      I have deleted and reloaded the Sky News app, but the problem remains.
      Does anybody have any suggestions of what I might try to get this working again, or is this something for LG, or Sky, to fix?

      I did a refresh of my LG TV 3 days ago. Sold the old LG 47" 3D LED TV and bought new 55" LG Super UltraHD TV with WebOS. I believe, the biggest con of this new TV is WebOS. Its totally frustrating. Sorry for WebOS fans.
      It isn't that smart and functional they way it looks. The problem I having since 3 days and being a network engineer, I am unable to solve a network issue myself which is even more frustrating for me.
      Ok, let me explain the issue. The TV when installed was connected to LAN cable to my router which has direct internet connection. The TV works and none of the apps were working. Basically TV wasn't able to connect to internet via apps. If i open web browser, it was working fine with all webpages showing correctly.
      I'll skip the part of contacting LG support which was useless. All troubleshooting steps like resetting, formatting, changing time zone, location, region was done but no luck. Finally I connected the TV via mobile hotspot and it just worked which gave me the clue that some ports are being blocked by my ISP or router.
      My internet setup is this way. Internet cable from ISP -> ISP Modem (can do NAT and work as router) - WiFi Router (NAT, DHCP, etc) -> all LAN clients. I put my LG TV in DMZ, opened all ports, etc but no luck. Then I converted my ISP modem as router and connected the LG TV directly to it and it started working..!!!
      My WiFi Router is TP-Link Archer C7 and I was using stock firmware. Thought it was creating issues and I installed DD-WRT, Open-WRT but no luck at all. The apps which were installed in TV when TV was connected directly to modem are still working fine. Youtube, Plex, Netflix, etc all are working but when I open LG Content Store, it just refuses to load.
      I am not sure what wrong my TP-Link router is doing. There is something wrong with the LG TV content store. If it requires to open ports, then I would like to know which ones.
      Sorry for the long port, may be my frustration of 3 days with no luck.!!

      As the title say, it is unfortunate that we cannot have access in those two apps and as far as I know many ppl waiting for them to be added… Hope to see them soon in webos app list. Thank you in advance.

      I've bought OLED55CX3LA and have screenshare errors ever since. 
      I'm using Dell machine with Windows 10 onboard.
      Almost every time I try to connect using "connect with remote screen" windows option, I get the pop up that
      only with cancel button.

      Sometimes there is approval button but mostly I have only "cancel" option. 
      Have this error on OLED55CX3LA and one older model. Same behavior. 

      Mobile screen sharing working perfectly fine.

      How to fix it?
      I've cleared the connection history but without any success.
      Not sure if I should put it on warranty or if there is some simple fix?
