I was reading a few articles on the launch of Disney Plus but they did not list any of the tvs such as LG webos or samsung tv. I hope disney plus comes out in lg tvs.  Its supposed to launch November 12th in the US for $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year. They also said there will be a $12.99-per-month trio bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ that is coming. I'm already doing espn for $4.99, I may do the entire bundle to get hulu also, not sure, At the minimum, I am definitely going to get Disney plus for all the marvel and disney movies. I really hope webos tvs get a native Disney plus app.

Disney today confirmed its first global launches for the company’s upcoming Disney+ subscription service, and it outlined which devices and platforms will be able to access it on day one. The service is set to launch in the United States on November 12th for $6.99 per month (or $69.99 paid annually). Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand will be able to start streaming Disney+ in November. The company has said it aims to offer Disney+ in most major global markets within two years of its initial launch. It has also said a $12.99-per-month trio bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ is coming.

Disney like a lot of other content providers are going to provide first for the platforms that are most prevalent first as that will bring them the biggest return/income.  If you want Disney to release an app for LG then I am afraid you will need to start lobbying them to make one directly via their feedback system.

Me too. I've subscribed but so far will be unable to watch it. I have Fire TV but Amazon and Disney are not friends. Don't want to buy a Roku. No good Android TV boxes except Shield but it's long in the tooth. Thinking maybe a Chromecast Ultra via my tablet. CORDCUTTING IS HARD!

I really have enjoyed my lg smart TV and it makes sense for Disney to provide their Disney+ service to as many brands as possible, I'm not willing to have to buy a roku stick just to have this.

I just bought my LG 70" TV since my old Sony was losing support from the streaming services. It works great but I assumed Disney+ would be supported when it starts in Nov as I bought the 3 year deal. Is this an LG or Disney problem?

It is down to content providers to produce an app for the platform as LG would not have access to APIs, server settings etc.  Of course you can contact LG directly using the suggesting form link elsewhere on the forum to voice your desire for a Disney app.

I guess it's a WebOS problem. So far it is not supported. Someone has to write a D+ app and publish it in the Content Store.  I bought a Roku 4K for my OLED that will support it. One nice discovery was that I always understood plugging things into HDMI 1, 3, and 4 (I think there is a 4) would only play sound through the TV speakers.  Not so. It seems to pass DD and DD+ back to my AVR through HDMI 2 fine. The AVR says its playing Surround, DD, and DD+ depending on what I am playing. I think I even got Atmos playing Mrs Maisel via Prime through the Roku stick. Just got it so still playing.

I don't tweat, facetime, duo, skype, facebook, whistle, or any of the other stuff.  Sites like this, email, and grudgingly text are enough for my old eyes and brain.

EDIT:  I take that back. I just twitted them. Guess that makes me a TWIT unless that is now a politically incorrect term. If so. I take it back with apologies. I did buy a Roku 4K stick as backup. Always need backup.

That said for US folks, I've been with DirecTV since '97 and fiddling the last couple of years for an Internet alternative. Have attic antennas and 1gb fiber. On 3 week YoutubeTV trial, and despite the dumb name, I think it will be the winner. Integrated interface for OTA's and OTT's, surround sound, 9-month free cloud DVR (very functional), fastforward (also very functional), multiple platforms, and better picture quality than the others. Actually exceptional.  No more box rental either. All for 50 bucks a month. I will still keep Netflix and Prime and come and go with HBO, Sho, and Hulu depending on their lineup. Try it. 3-weeks 4 free. I'm already using it in place of DTV.

Oh, and WebOS does support YTTV.

There IS already a Disney+ app for the LG TVs.

Disney+ had a soft launch this week exclusively in the Netherlands and did install the app that is available in the LG App Store in the Netherlands.

Quality is severely disappointing though as the LG app does not seem to support 4K/HDR for some reason, while the AppleTV app does. Using AppleTV for Disney+ therefore.

Hope the WebOS Disney+ app gets fixed/improved soon!

@poehoes At my TV you could not miss it, was right top left as newest app when I opened the content store.

So don’t know. What TV model do you have, maybe only newest TVs supported? I own an OLED 55 E9 PLA, so a 2019 model.

On the Dutch forum Got,Tweakers.net it is stated by someone only WebOS 3.0 from 2016 or newer are supported by now.

@schneidernet Correct, the soft launch in the Netherlands is exclusive for the Netherlands. Is indeed a test to kink out any issues encountered before the launch in November. The Netherlands was chosen because the Netherlands is a country with very high streaming subscriptions adoption, is relatively tech savvy and also has comparatively very fast internetlines at almost all consumer homes.

For that reason, the Netherlands was also the first European country Netflix started some years ago.

Nice deal as Disney+ is completely free of charge in the Netherlands until the official launch day with no commitments.

Like the Disney+ offering a lot, almost the whole Disney, Marvel, Starwars and Pixar backcatalogue is present from day one.

I assume that the app now already being available in the Netherlands will mean it will be available after the official launch November 12th  in all countries where Disney+ will officially start.

But the LG app needs some serious work still as picture quality using the Apple TV is WAY better. Using the LG app HDR is not supported it seems, but even the menus look unsharp compared to the Apple TV app.

As long as your TV is on a new enough webOS version. :( My 24" in my office is out in the cold with no YTTV app, so I have to use the PC I have hooked up to it to watch TV.

I have the Disney+ app on my new OLED55C9PLA (I live in the Netherlands) but the app does not work.  You can start it, but you can not press the Log On button with your remote. If you want to logg off, you can not press the Cancel button either.....totally worthless app so far on LG, or is it something with my TV (settings)?

Is there a list of which devices DO support HDR/DolbyVision/4k? I have a 2016 set running WebOS 3.x and also an Xbox One X.

I understand Xbox has some game-only DolbyVision support but it doesn't work for 4k Blu Ray or Netflix. My TV, being a 2016, also only does DolbyVision up to 30fps so I'm hoping things will use 24hz on Disney. Netflix DolbyVision works great from the TV's built in app, but that's the only place I'm aware of having access to any streaming with DolbyVision. I'm hoping the Xbox does HDR 4k at the very least.

@John435i At my TV it does work. So at least not a general issue.

App is still pretty useless though as the video quality is appalling compared to the Disney+ app on my Apple TV. The LG app does not seem to support UHD and HDR yet. Video seems blurry and washed out.

Could you please be so kind to share a picture of General->Location settings please?

Thanks have a great day

Sorry for the delay. Was rather busy with other things.

See screenshots as requested. With Disney+ app in background.

Just received a FW update by the way.

@Hastor AppleTV 4K at least works great in Dolby Vision. And the Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon and Disney+ apps all support Dolby Vision and have Dolby Vision content.

Native LG apps for Amazon and Netflix also work great in Dolby Vision or HDR+.

Thanks. I'm good on the other apps on my TV. Sounds like the D+ app, at least in is current form, doesn't support HDR on LG (or DolbyVision).

Has HDR been confirmed for Xbox One X or PS4 Pro? I'm fine with standard HDR for now, not worth buying a new device to jump to DolbyVision on a single service yet. However I do want to ensure I get HDR at least, and those are the devices I have that are capable.

I'd also like surround sound, what formats are they using? My TV ARC channel only supports lossy surround. My receiver supports Atmos, but I don't have the speakers for it, running standard 5.1.

Should I be good with what I have, or will I need something new for HDR and the best (non Atmos) sound they will offer on D+?

On our LG G1 OLED, when watching a program on Binge, the Binge app restarts itself every 20 minutes or so with a message about needing to restart to free up memory. Power-cycling the TV doesn't fix the problem, nor does running the "Memory Optimiser" function from system settings. None of the other streaming service apps we have on the TV have this problem - Prime Video, Stan, Netflix, Disney+, Britbox, ABC iView, SBS On Demand, Youtube. Those are the only other apps installed on the TV. I've checked the LG WebOS version and checked for app updates, and everything is latest version.
If I run the Binge Android app on my Chromecast with Google TV, it works without any problems when streaming the same programs.

In fact, Spotify doesn't offer its service to LG webOS Smartwatch now. If you want to listen to Spotify songs on LG webOS Smartwatch, you'd need a

Samsung has made fridges with touchscreens before. LG has made fridges with doors that turn transparent to show you the inside. This year at CES 2018, those two ideas are finally merging into one with LG’s new InstaView ThinQ smart refrigerator, which features a 29-inch touchscreen that becomes transparent if users knock on it twice.
LG actually tried this two years ago, with a version called the Smart InstaView Door-in-Door that ran a full version of Windows 10, but it’s not clear that the company ever shipped the Windows version.
This version uses the touchscreen to manage your food using LG’s webOS software and Amazon’s Alexa, which will let you tag food with virtual stickers and expiration dates and get automatic reminders when things are running low or about to go bad. There’s also a wide-angle panoramic camera on the inside of the fridge that will let you remotely view your fridge while you’re out and about to check and see if you’re actually out of milk or not.

Unfortunately, the only image that LG has shared showing the fridge is a low-resolution shot on its YouTube page banner, but it seems that you’ll be able to still use the screen while it’s translucent, allowing you to tag food directly in a vaguely augmented reality-esque move.
LG is also touting how all of its ThinQ kitchen gadgets can talk to each other to make kitchen tasks easier. So your ThinQ fridge can talk to your EasyClean oven, which will help you cook food through step-by-step instructions from the recipe app from your fridge. Then, your EasyClean oven can notify your QuadWash dishwasher about the kind of meal you cooked, so it can more efficiently select a wash cycle for that dish. Of course, all this requires spending thousands of dollars replacing every appliance in your kitchen (and if this all works as well as LG claims it does), but it’s still an intriguing vision of a Jetsons-like future utopia.
No price or release date for the InstaView ThinQ refrigerator or any of LG’s other new appliances have yet been announced.
