SBS Ondemand and ABC iView breakup since last upgrade

Question

Posted

Since the last upgrade, if not before, my LG smartTV [OLED55B8]  does not play SBS Ondemand or ABC Iview correctly. The streaming hangs a minute or so after the start and keeps on breaking up every two minutes or so making it unwatchable.

I know the problem is with the TV, as a set-top box on the same network does not show the problem at all. My connection never goes below 90Mbs, not even during peak time and a ping of 3ms. I have reset the TV but that has not rectified the problem.

What gives?

I am adding this as I just noticed that I have these breakups on youtube as well.  :( And again, no issues with the set stop box.

I answered earlier today but being new to the forum, I probably didn't do it correctly but am now properly joined, so here's hoping this gets to you. Did you get any resolution to the problem with your LG Tv.?

My 55 inch Lg smart Tv, bought in September 2018,  is doing exactly what you describe. Both ABC and SBS stop repeatedly. Other things such as YouTube, Netflix etc are  ok.   It is clearly a TV issue as desktop computer ( ethernet) and ipad and phone (wifi) work fine on both of those sites.  I asked our local Facebook community site and someone said they had the same problem. Sounds like they didn't resolve it.

I don't think I have any chance with LG as it is out of warranty. The screen was recently replaced under a 'good will' extension of my warranty and the problem has worsened since that repair.  I will call the repairer and see what they have to say, but am not hopeful. Looks like I got a lemon!

Yes, mine fixed itself up after a few days.  Of course, that was 5 months ago.

Hope yours fix itself as well. Make sure that any updates have been applied.

Interesting. Last night at about11pm, after a lot of researching, I unplugged my wireless headphones. I had been reading about things that could interfere with wifi. Both ABC and SBS worked fine! I then plugged the headphones back in and it stayed working ok. This morning with headphones still plugged in they are both still working ok. Unplugging the headphones maybe gave the two systems a chance to find their own way on the same frequency ( both 2.5ghz).  I did read something about how they are on the same frequency and yet can operate, somehow, at the same time.  Thinking about it, these troubles started not long after  I bought the headphones.  Here's hoping. Thanks for your time.

I’ve just got home after being away 2 years, and got the tv out of storage. When we try and watch the news live in the. Morning every few minutes the video and sound stop and then after a few seconds the circle appears and starts spinning. Then the program starts again and it’s fine for a little while, and then it stops again.
I have checked for updates of the TV OS and iView (2021 is the latest)
If I use iView on my iOS device and then airplay it to the tv it works fine with no problems. If I watch any program on iview that would have been prerecorded, even if I’m watching it “live” it’s fine.
I see a few people were having a problem with all iView programs back in 2022, but they resolved.

      can anybody suggest any solutions?

      Thanks

Hi, I've got this model LG which is updated to webOs 3.9. I can't connect an iPad wirelessly as it needs airplay with comes with webOs 4 but I think my TV was just pre 2018 when it changed (mine must've been the outgoings model). Is there a way to force an update and should I do it if I can?

On LG OLEDs. You go on and disable SIMPLINK. Fine. But everytime you turn on your HDMI device it enables itself back again. This happens because they have disables two key features that were present in previous OSs, as you can see clearly here
link hidden, please login to view (they even put screencaps of the menus where you see the missing options in the 23) These functions are Auto Power Sync and Auto Device Detection.
Man updates are supposed to add functionalities not the other way around. It's very annoying to turn on your TV and have your AVR turn on without you wanting to.

Anyone found a solution for this problem?

Since the last webos update to 3.40.87, I find I have to completely power cycle the TV (a G1 65" OLED) every week or so to get the DLNA client back to functioning properly. I have a media server running Serviio on a Raspberry Pi, and I periodically get one of the following two problems, both of which are fixed by completely power-cycling the TV.
When I'm using the DLNA client to select videos from the server, I get no response from trying to select a video or series using the remote. The remote continues to work fine when used with other apps (eg Netflix, Stan etc) on the TV. When the DLNA client is playing a video from the server, the audio is delayed by a couple of seconds from the video. At the time that the TV is showing either of these problems, I can access the media server using either BubbleUPnP on my phone or VLC on my PC, and neither of them have any problem either selecting videos or playing them back with the audio synced with the video, so the problem is clearly with the TV, and power-cycling the TV gets rid of whichever problem is manifesting itself.
