As part of the brand’s sustainability efforts, this initiative sought to highlight the importance of taking action against Singapore’s growing marine plastic pollution problem while promoting the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – when dealing with used packaging.
By combining the company’s eco-conscious innovations with a community-driven effort, LG Singapore hopes this initiative will help foster a culture of environmental consciousness within consumers.
With the much-appreciated help of Green Nudge, over 100 LG Singapore employees collected 293 kilograms of trash – mainly plastic packaging, bottles and Styrofoam – from three sites across Singapore’s eastern coastline, which was then carefully processed for proper disposal.
To foster camaraderie among employees, LG Singapore organized eager volunteers into teams and promised an award to the group that collected the most trash. The winning team, which collected a total of 104 kilograms of trash in just one hour, received a small token of appreciation from Gerald Chun, managing director of LG Singapore.
The success of the beach cleanup highlights LG’s dedication to environmental stewardship and community involvement, with the revitalized beach serving as a powerful reminder of the impact collective action can have. LG Singapore looks forward to promoting sustainability in more exciting ways and inspiring others to join its mission to preserve nature.
Moving on to another vibrant part of Asia, in the spirit of Life’s Good, LG Taiwan hosted an event in September to inject positive change into the local community. Since 2009, LG Taiwan has been deeply committed to improving the standards of education in the nation’s rural areas, working alongside third-party organizations and public welfare institutions to inspire warmth and hope. This long-standing dedication was recently demonstrated through a collaboration with the Feng Chia University School of Architecture.
This involved LG Taiwan assisting Feng Chia University’s Book Hut Project to create an impactful after-school learning space for children living in the countryside. First, LG donated smart home appliances to meet their daily needs, with the local children taking an immediate liking to the LG TV’s advanced voice control features and its sheer size. LG also donated two washing machines that make everyday laundry easy and convenient, requiring only the press of the power and start buttons to operate.
Under the leadership of Jeong Yeon-kwan, managing director of LG Taiwan, a team of 23 LG employees joined student volunteers from Feng Chia University in Hualien to transform a building into an inspirational learning environment with a new lick of paint and various decorations.
In addition to getting hands-on in Hualien, LG Taiwan donated home appliances to the rural Nantou and Taitung regions to spread the power of education. Managing director Jeong showed teachers and children how each appliance works to ensure they received the full benefits. And to add a personal touch to their visit, LG volunteers prepared Korean snack packs for the children and student volunteers.
To support the transformation of its local community, LG East Africa collaborated with Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI) to complete two local projects. These initiatives – in Kajiado County and Nairobi’s Huruma slums – were the winning entries of the 2024 LG Ambassador Challenge. Each received KES 1 million in funding to make an impact on local communities.
As a part of the first initiative in Kajiado County, LG East Africa took part in transforming Intinyika Primary School. The school, which has 180 students, was equipped with essential infrastructure, including a solar power system, water storage facilities and computers. These upgrades address critical needs, such as electricity, water and educational resources, significantly improving the learning environment for local students. LG is hopeful that the new equipment will benefit and improve the lives of local students, with the new computers enabling them to learn more about digital technologies in a more comfortable learning environment.
In Nairobi’s Huruma slums, LG East Africa provided aid to the Furaha Community Foundation to improve their physiotherapy center, which treats more than 30 children with disabilities. With the funds from the LG Ambassador Challenge, the center acquired essential equipment, including gym tools, to provide effective care and treatment.
Now in its fourth year, the LG Ambassador Challenge is part of LG East Africa’s social responsibility initiatives. The program aims to recognize and support groups that actively address pressing challenges within their communities. The 2024 edition saw 53 applications, with the winning projects standing out for their potential to create lasting change. To ensure the sustainability of these projects, KFHI will continue to provide customized monitoring and support. This includes regular visits, communication and oversight to maximize the impact and facilitate meaningful change within the communities.

In a strategic move to bolster its presence in Indonesia, LG is accelerating the capabilities of its Research and Development (R&D) Center in the country by investing in its most valuable asset – its people.

The 40,000-square-meter R&D center in Cibitung is set to become a pivotal hub for LG’s expansion into new global markets. This facility allows LG to implement a one-stop operation in Indonesia, integrating its supply chain processes into a seamless workflow that encompasses development, production, sales, marketing and customer service. This makes LG Indonesia the first LG subsidiary in the world capable of performing these roles simultaneously.
“Our R&D Center in the heart of Indonesia reinforces our unwavering dedication to serving Indonesia with the highest quality products, bringing up highly competitive manpower with creating jobs, transferring knowledge and making innovations,” said Lee So-yeoun, president of the LG R&D Center in Indonesia. “We anticipate our Indonesia R&D Center to continue positively impacting not only the company but also Indonesia’s broader society.”
This state-of-the-art facility will not only serve as a testing ground for LG’s latest innovations but also support the development of new TVs for the global market.
The center conducts rigorous tests on products to assess their resistance to moisture, heat and vibration as well as the packaging’s ability to protect items from significant drops. These tests are carried out to verify the durability of LG TVs throughout the product life cycle, from shipment to actual use.
Beyond technological development, LG Indonesia seeks to empower local human resources through the new facility. As part of this initiative, LG Indonesia sent 100 local workers to South Korea for a training program to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills. A highly competent local team leads the facility’s technical and development quality assurance departments, and LG has employed approximately 400 people to run it, with plans to recruit more over the coming years.
To further improve its human resources, LG’s Indonesia R&D Center is exploring scholarship programs, internships, project sponsorships and partnerships with prominent local educational institutions. This initiative aims to strengthen the industry-academia relationship while creating broader opportunities for Indonesia’s talented youth. This will almost certainly foster greater innovation, leading to new products designed for the global market.
The Indonesia R&D Center’s high operational standards have earned it three ISO certifications for SHEE (Safety, Health, Environment and Energy): ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management), emphasizing its dedication to safe, eco-friendly operations.
With the implementation of an advanced Building Management System (BMS), LG’s Indonesia R&D Center ensures environmental sustainability and energy efficiency by monitoring and controlling the air conditioning, ventilation, water systems, fire alarms and power.
Beyond enhancing operational efficiency, the R&D Center aims to help the company comply with national standards by adapting its products to better serve the local market, such as acquiring the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) certification. Among its most valuable contributions so far, the facility helped develop the LG OLED G4, the latest OLED TV which uses 60 percent less plastic than conventional televisions and recently received the Eco-friendly Certification for the fourth consecutive year.
Looking ahead, LG’s Indonesia R&D Center will continue to promote sustainability through key ESG initiatives organized under the “LG LOVES Indonesia” program. With a focus on the environment, education, community welfare and child development, the company has already initiated several projects in Indonesia, including “LG Loves Green,” “LG Loves School,” “LG Loves and Cares” and “LG Loves Children.”

Exemplifying how LG is driving innovation in the Appalachian Region, , the new digital health venture launched in collaboration with LG NOVA, announced its first customer: Marshall Health Network Inc., a leading West Virginia-based academic health system.
Primefocus Health and Marshall Health Network are working together to customize the Primefocus Health platform to support Marshall Health Network in addressing key regional healthcare issues, such as obesity, healthy aging, substance use disorder, and rural healthcare needs. The Marshall Health Network serves 1.4 million residents in 40 counties in West Virginia, southern Ohio and eastern Kentucky.
The Primefocus Health platform enables providers to deliver a personalized, complete care experience and improve access to quality healthcare. As part of the collaboration, Primefocus Health will also be actively hiring for roles related to the implementation and support of these solutions, creating new job opportunities within the region. TV stands are providing people with the freedom to position their TVs where design and functionality are maximized. The simple yet elegant LG OLED Gallery Stand1 accentuates content by resembling a canvas on an easel. Flawless Designs Pay Attention to Unseen Elements
As lifestyles diversify and spaces expressing individuality increase, LG is innovating TVs that consider every design element, even the parts that are normally out of sight like the back of the TV. This helps them blend naturally into any space and achieve an unmatched sense of ‘harmony.’ To strike the ideal balance between elegance and functionality, every ornament and piece of furniture, including the TV, must harmonize under one concept. A ‘biophilic’ décor incorporates natural materials like stone, wood and metal while utilizing nature’s most iconic colors and textures, appealing to our innate connection to the natural world. This emerging concept promotes the use of large windows to fill the house with natural light and the ‘planterior’ trend, which employs plants to elevate the ambiance, transforming the interior into a natural space for healing and relaxation. LG’s new design direction for its TVs aligns with ‘biophilic’ values, emphasizing visual comfort in a natural setting.
To keep pace with these trends and accommodate lifestyle changes, LG recognized the need to focus on details it had previously overlooked. This is why LG has redesigned the back panel of its TVs.

Inspired by the tranquility found in nature, LG added a rustic sensibility to the LG OLED evo C4’s modern design with the ‘Statement Stone’ pattern. This feature mimics the look and texture of stone, adding depth and elegance to the space, while its natural ‘Umber Brown’ shade reinvents the back panel with a warm, nature-inspired tone.
