Default Startup

Question

Posted

Can someone help.. I just purchased a 55" LG tv and its so frustrating.  55UM69 model.  I have no set top box... I do streaming with YoutubeTV. I have the app installed but when the TV starts it will NOT restart using the last mode I used nor can I access the my app from the input buttons....  Every time I start my TV I get a poltergeist/all hash screen..  How on earth can I make this TV stop going to an input I dont have and/or automatically load up my YouTubeTV app uponn tv start.   With all the cord cutters why would they overlook this problem. Why can't I set the default startup mode or app??   Please help before I return this TV as I can't be dealing with this every day.

You cant. It defaults to a TV broadcast input EVERY TIME. I too do not have cable, dish or aerial input and only have internet input. Hate this TV that I wasted my money on. It is so frustrating and WebOS  does not work intuitively. Its not Android or iOS so limited on apps.  I cant use a private network as it will not take my manual settings. Would love to sell it and buy another make but will lose too much money that I cant afford. Even the HDMI takes over my HiFi control so disconnected it So many irritations that I just use it for Youtube  like I do on a PC.  Sorry, I too am fed up with LG.

One way to mitigate this is to go to setup/channels/channel tuning/manual

and add one digital channel (channel 2 ).

Then the TV will startup there, to a quiet black screen/ in built JPG's

Don't know that every other major brand of TV doesn't have the same stupid behavior

I sold that POS tv and got me a Sony. Worlds better and so much happier. The tv was plagued with issues and repair people had to come out and the tv was actually worse after they replaced the mainboard.  Their customer service was a joke and run you all around in circles..  all very incompetent.  They refused to exchange, change to a different model or buy it back.. and it was a new tv. They treated me like unvalued customer and had no real interest is resolving my issue or bettering my experience. Never... and I mean NEVER will I buy an LG tv or recommend  one to anyways.  Getting rid if tbat tv was my best option.

Yes, there is a solution if you want your LG tv to startup on the HDMI input that it was using when you shut it off the last time instead of displaying the Home screen on each startup. And the solution is quite simple. I found it at the following website:

It is just a matter of disabling 2 settings for your Home screen. Now my LG TV is working like I want it to.
