Ah! now I understand what you are trying to do. I don't think you can record via HDMI. If you are using a TV box e.g Vodafone or Sky or something similar, you should check if it's supports live recording.

Do you know any another way of recording (Legally or Illegally). Please let me know...

My LG Tv is SmartTV and I think recording should be possible on Smart TV's

LG Smart TVs are the among the few TVs that can mainly record live signals e.g antenna. To record via HDMI, you would need either a set-top box or HDMI recorder.

@anand shinde  Have you checked the "Time Machine" app on the TV? Most LG models from about 2014 onward have this.  You DO need to attache a decent capacity (e.g. 1TB to 2TB) sized HDD (portable hard disk, e.g. the Seagate backup disks, that are quite cheap these days, and are self-powered from the USB socket). They come with a SHORT usb3.0 cable, that needs to go into the socket that supports USB3, but the normal socket will work. I usually use a cable tie, or velcro cable tidy, to support it at the rear of the TV, or in the bracket.

You can use the DEVICE links on the TV to set up so it "sees" the new disk OK, then go to the Time Machine app, check the TV Guide link, select from there, it can create a recording schedule. Once the entry is there, you can edit that schedule (start and stop times, once or weekly etc).

DOWNSIDE: the recording function (Time Machine) lacks the intelligence of a Sky or Foxtel box on older smart TV's, but MIGHT be better on recent ones. This may mean that if you program starts EARLY, the title will reflect THAT program on-air at the time, and NOT the programme name of what actually WILL be recording.  Deleting them after can be a bit "clunky" and unintuitive with ticking boxes and using the waste-bin icon, but you get used to it over time.

@anand shinde ALSO - with regard to recording via HDMI, because of DRM and Copyright issues, this connection type uses HDCP technology to stop that. However, some forums show that some HDMI splitters will remove that connection path, and allow screenshots atc, BUT anything else is deemed illegal:

@anand shinde FYI: Time Machine functions in newer TV models is now called Time machine II, and is driven mainly from the Magic Remote Q.MENU, so it might not be visible as an actual separate app. If you tell us your LG model number, we might be able to provide more relevant help for recording functionality, tips and info. In the meantime, have a read of this LG article:

@anand shinde Thanks for the model number (43UK6780PTE). I see from the spec that it is "Time Machine Ready" so the functionality IS there, but it will need a small self-powered HDD (external backup type of hard disk) plugged into the USB3 socket to activate the recording functionality that the TV has. NOTE: the new disk when added, may trigger a recording "setup" automatically anyway, so be aware that it may well want to format it to the TV requirements (file structures, folder names etc), that may take a few minutes. Use Velcro or a cable tie to hold the external disk in a convenient place, so that it does not strain the connection cable (NEVER let it hang from the cable).

ALSO: be aware that even when in standby, the TV will still have enough "smart electronic logic" active to do the scheduled recordings on its own, it does NOT need to be in the ON state, BUT DO NOT TURN IT OFF AT THE WALL SOCKET OBVIOUSLY! ☺️

Did you read the link for the smart remote info in the link I posted above? It may be a different one, and I am having a hard time finding the "Q.MENU" button, that in one of them is a button marked "123". If you had a separate manual for your remote, have a good read to see if it helps with the recording side. It MIGHT be the "settings" cog button on yours, I am not sure.

I know that the smart remotes have a good voice command function, so press the button to activate the microphone and try saying "time machine". I find the voice command useful to get to "settings" with my older magic remote, as I can never remember how to get to it on my TV otherwise... 😊

By the way, I find that Toshiba or Seagate portable USB3 dives are good for this, use this Google search term to see what is available in your area:

"site:.uk toshiba portable drive" or "site:.uk seagate portable drive" without the quotes. The site thing limits sites to your country.

I tried with voice command but it says " Current status of your tv doesn't support this time machine function"

@anand shinde I suspect that it knows you don't yet have an external HDD (Hard disk) plugged into a USB (Ideally the USB3 socket), so it cannot support recording until you do. By the way. did you seee my other post about typical/good HDD portable drives to use:

I have an LG C2 OLED TV. I have noticed that whenever I connect any player (Bluray or Set-top box) through HDMI and watch DV content with Bluetooth earbuds/headphones connected to the TV, the video's DV metadata is out of sync and causes delayed brightness change at every scene cut. In addition to that, I also see this weird outline for any moving objects in the scene as well.
This issue doesn't happen if I watch the DV content directly through the Webos player itself and I have watched a lot of stuff that way. The issue also doesn't happen if I watch standard HDR10 stuff through an HDMI player. It is only weirdly specific to the scenario where the DV content is played through an external player through HDMI and a Bluetooth audio device is connected to the TV. The issue again doesn't happen in the case of DV content playing through HDMI without any Bluetooth device connected to the TV.
It would be great if someone could confirm this is the case with their TV as well, and if anyone has any idea on why this is happening and what can be done to fix it.

I have a 65 Inch LG OLED evo AI C4 4K Smart TV 2024 - Model OLED65C4PUA.ACC. here have been a many weird things happening. This is one of them:
I have 2 HDMI 2.1 cables attached to a Rogers Internet TV unit (HDMI 4) and the other 2.1 cable plugged into an XBOX Series X (HDMI 3). If the TV is on an HDMI 4 is active, and I turn on the XBOX (HDMI 3), the TV begins to swtich back and forth constantly and never ends until I turn off the TV. It will automatically switch itself from HDMI 4 to 3, then 3 to 4, then back to 3 again non-stop.
If I power off the XBOX, this behaivor stops.
Would anyone know why this does that? Is this a software or hardware problem? I tried to describe this to LG Support but they had no answers.

I'm not getting any audio from the apps via the HDMI via ARC connection to my receiver.  This occurred two weeks ago and was unable to resolve it, but ironically there was new firmware released that same day for my B6 (3/31/17) and this fixed the issue.  However, now I again can't get it working after a TV reset and tinkering with the audio settings again.  I tried to load the firmware again, but it appears this is not possible to forceable load the same firmware.

On my LG 60SJ850T, Watching Horizon from AppleTV streaming service. Western with some scenes with Apache language being spoken. No subtitles appearing. When CC is on, see “foreign language being spoken”. When viewed on iPhone, there are subtitles. Have tried same movie using chrome cast TV, and casting from iPhone to Apple TV device. Never get subtitles. Verified subtitles work when I stream to same chromecast TV connected to a different TV.

reset LG TV to factory settings after trying all available CC and subtitle settings on TV. Still no subtitles.

Up until a few days ago my TV and AVR have been working perfectly since I bought it.
Zero hassles with HDMI and connectivity.
Then I was prompted to update to the latest software version which I did and now often when I switch HDMI (running on 1) it picks up the device name, CEC works but I get “No Signal”… and then nothing.
Just stays on “No Signal”. It is almost as if some HDMI handshake breaks and now the driver is in a broken state.
I’ve found that if I hard power off and power on the device sometimes works but I don’t want to do that every time especially since it’s hard to get to the power.
This really strikes me as a software issue with the latest update as absolutely nothing else has changed in my setup.
      I’ve tried:
Different HDMI cables (high quality) Deep colour settings Reset the TV to factory default Different HDMI ports TV
      Model: OLED65G26LA / OLED65G26LA.HFBQLWK WebOS TV Version: 8.3.0.2301 Software Version: 13.30.56 AVR & Devices
Marantz SR5015 Nvidia Shield Pro PS5
The setup is the conventional AVR installation as shown in the attached file

      Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it possible to revert the software update?
