Hello

since upgrading my LGOLED55C9PLA firmware to 05.00.03

every time I open a TV channel, I get the HOME menu bar at the bottom of the screen, not sure if a bug, or a bad idea, it has no disable option, feel I would like to roll back to the previous firmware, is this safe ? Is there an easy procedure ? Where do I get the previous firmware file from ?

thanks

@Arthur Dent I am not sure if the older firmware is held anywhere, but it is possible that someone on here MIGHT have a copy that can be posted on Dropbox or Google docs. I don't have it. By the way, I noticed there is a later firmware, 05.00.10 with minor bug fixes, might be worth trying that.

However, in the meantime, odd irritating issues have been fixed according to some posts I see, by turning off the QuickStart option:

  1. Press the Home/Smart button on your remote to bring up your launcher bar.
  2. Click the Settings icon in the top-right.
  3. Choose the All Settings option at the bottom.
  4. Choose the General menu from the left.
  5. Under Quick Start +, set it to Off.

I think this "quick start" option is not for that !!

I am sure it was not intended to be related to any odd bugs like an irritating "Home" display, but like many firmware updates, "odd" bugs continue to occurr, and I was merely passing on what some other users have found, that turning off that Quick Start setting (that is just supposed to make the TV boot up quicker) can have a beneficial affect. My "gut-feel" is that the Quick Start can prevent some "clearing down" and proper initialisation of certain key internal harware AND software items inside the TV, and result in odd bugs.  This is (slightly) analogous to rebooting your laptop instead of just putting it to sleep, as sometimes the previous memory image does NOT come in properly all the time.

Have either of you actually tried that, or even tried using the latest firmware that I quoted above (05.0.010)? I fixed the typo by the way.

If that latest firmware dated 8/12/2020 applied manually via USB does NOT fix your isse, you will need to report it to your country LG Support, this site cannot fix it for you, it is only a  peer-to-peer enthusiasts forum, and has NO influence over LG whatsoever.

I disabled this "quick start" feature, but the problem remains ! :(

I think I am using the lastest update 05.30.10 available. I did the update like two, three days ago, via internet.

Firmware upgrades mean that the vendor sold us crap to begin with.  There was once upon a time a thing called a Testing Department, whereby all software had to pass a batter of tests before being released.  Today, buggy software is INTENTIONALLY inflicted upon the user, nothing more than just the damn customer to manufacturer.  And now LG is doing it.

@NotHappywithaBuggyLGFirmWa Whilst "There is no such thing as perfect software", that includes firmware.

However, this thread is about ONE specific thing where a default changed (to always display the app carousel on startup. And it is easy to change that default to off:

An easy fix has already been posted here:

Settings > General > Additional Settings > Home Settings > Home Auto Launch (toggle to off or disable).

Have a good time! I have such a problem. The OLED42C3RLA TV Accidentally installed the engineering firmware 66.66.ff (99.99.00.01) How do I return the official firmware?

      Hello,
I have a problem with my new LG OLED G2 newest version 4 firmware.
I tried sorting my satellite channels with chansort programm from github, because sorting them with the tv remote is a pain.
When I try to sort them with the remote and have selected about 10 or more channels all the selected channels get suddenly getting deselected, so I can only select up to 10 at a time  to
sort them -> must be some kind of firmwarebug?
After exporting the channellist to a usb stick then editing it with chansort an importing it back into the tv all my channels are gone, all transponderns are deleted.
First I thought it was a charsort problem but all channels and transponders get also deleted when I simply export them to a usb drive an import them back, without editing the file at all.
Does someone know how to fix this problem?
And yes I´ve done multiple factory resets -> did not fix any of this behaviour.
I also discoverd another bug the deletes all channels, because I needed to reboot the tv I searched for a reboot option in the tvs menu, but there is no reboot option.
To do a full reboot (except from forcing it through cutting the tvs power) you can deselect the privicy agreements, after that the tv reboots, but then all channels are gone too.

I have an LG 55NANO86VNA TV. It has always displayed Netflix and other content in DV with no issues.
Since the recent TV firmware update to 4.50.51, although Netflix shows DV content available, the TV no longer displays the DV logo top-right when any DV content is started.
Nano TV also does not play test DV content on a USB memory stick in DV. This used to play as DV, and still plays fine with DV logo top-right on my older LG TV.
      Dolby Vision is 22.11.
Anyone else seen this issue. Any suggestions please.
