I just upgraded my old Sony TV for a LG 55NANO796. The  WiFi and wired ethernet speeds are not adequate to support 4K streaming over Internet. I installed a FTTH 900meg service with intention of streaming 4KHD TV,  stream is  pausing every minute or so for 3-5s while download catches up.  TV is very close to a WiFi mesh AP with RJ45 socket, WiFi and cable speeds on TV webOS are similar, ping of 40ms, 16Meg down and 95M upload.  I'm  measuring speed with Speedtest.net.  I connected Raspberry Pi4 media Centre (£35) and got  7ms & 110M up and down  from same AP connection.  LG have clearly  underspeced  the Ethernet buffer for 4K streaming.

@Laurie Reynolds

Depending on the LG model and firmware version, one (or both) of these might fix the slow WiFi issues:

1) Open the built-in app, Screen Share, from Recents.

2) Click on Listen Mode.

3) Set it to Off.

The other setting to turn off, is Quickstart (or Quickstart+ on some models)

When done, power off and unplug your TV for 30 seconds, plus back in, and turn on.

If the WiFi is still slower than it should be, ensure it is on the 5GHz band rather than on the 2.4GHz band, as depending on your router and Internet service, you SHOULD be able to get a minumum of 600Mbps with 5GHz (hopefully higher with better routers), but the 2.4GHz tends to max out at 300Mbps. NOTE: this will still be 3 times the 100Mpbs max for the Ethernet LAN cable connection, as there are no 1GBE LAN cards (1000Mpbs) in LG TV sets at the moment as @George Hofmeister  says.

If your 5GHz Wifi is still slow, log into your router, and go to the WiFi advanced setup for the 5GHz network, and ensure it is on a lower channel than 100, I find that channel 36 works well in my location, some find 44 is good.

Unbelievable.  This worked wonders for my 65SJ8500.  I've tried everything to fix this issue with no luck until I stumbled on this post.  5GHZ is 5 times faster! I'm an IT Consultant and I know this stuff inside and out and never would have figured this out.

One thing of interest; Running wifi 6 on Channel 161 and did not have to change it to a lower channel...

Thanks so much!

I did a refresh of my LG TV 3 days ago. Sold the old LG 47" 3D LED TV and bought new 55" LG Super UltraHD TV with WebOS. I believe, the biggest con of this new TV is WebOS. Its totally frustrating. Sorry for WebOS fans.
It isn't that smart and functional they way it looks. The problem I having since 3 days and being a network engineer, I am unable to solve a network issue myself which is even more frustrating for me.
Ok, let me explain the issue. The TV when installed was connected to LAN cable to my router which has direct internet connection. The TV works and none of the apps were working. Basically TV wasn't able to connect to internet via apps. If i open web browser, it was working fine with all webpages showing correctly.
I'll skip the part of contacting LG support which was useless. All troubleshooting steps like resetting, formatting, changing time zone, location, region was done but no luck. Finally I connected the TV via mobile hotspot and it just worked which gave me the clue that some ports are being blocked by my ISP or router.
My internet setup is this way. Internet cable from ISP -> ISP Modem (can do NAT and work as router) - WiFi Router (NAT, DHCP, etc) -> all LAN clients. I put my LG TV in DMZ, opened all ports, etc but no luck. Then I converted my ISP modem as router and connected the LG TV directly to it and it started working..!!!
My WiFi Router is TP-Link Archer C7 and I was using stock firmware. Thought it was creating issues and I installed DD-WRT, Open-WRT but no luck at all. The apps which were installed in TV when TV was connected directly to modem are still working fine. Youtube, Plex, Netflix, etc all are working but when I open LG Content Store, it just refuses to load.
I am not sure what wrong my TP-Link router is doing. There is something wrong with the LG TV content store. If it requires to open ports, then I would like to know which ones.
Sorry for the long port, may be my frustration of 3 days with no luck.!!

      Specs: LG OLED 55C3
      Router speed: 250mbps
      System: webOS 2.3
I have an issue with the connection when testing the speed via the web browser in webOS. Both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections (I also used 5 GHz) have very low speed: 17 Mbps. I tried changing to use USB to LAN (USB 2.0) to at least reach 100 Mbps, but it doesn't seem to be working.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

I have a  LG OLED55C14LB WebOS TV in the same room as my xubuntu desktop computer and router.

I have installed Gnome Network Displays on the Linux PC and both machines are on the same 5G network.

When I connect the PC to the TV via WiFi the TV puts up a 'cancel' option and no option to connect. The Network display app only has an option to 'Return' which closes the connection.

If I do nothing and wait the connection times out and returns to the TV program. The TV is obviously waiting for permission to connect.

I cannot see any way to 'accept' the connection via the TV remote. Can anyone tell me how to accept the connection?
In addition, is it possible to have the TV remember the WiFi password? Passwords are complex nowadays and it is a pain to keep having to input it. This make casting your desktop a chore.

My tv is acting strangely after there was a software update (sometime between April 10-15,2024)
randomly turning off and on -- many times within a few minutes remote works some of the time or only certain buttons goes to a colored screen i.e. purple, yellow, light blue with no image just color sudden annoying continuous, high pitch sound like an alarm Checked and reset the cable box and called cable company.
Unplugged and plugged tv back in.
      Change the HDMI input
      It is becoming very frustrating.

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to exceed a speed of 100 mb/s with an Ethernet adapter for LG webos 3.5 TV and if so which adapter? I tried the one from Cable Matters but nothing
