@Ken Gendron It is well known that LG (and other manufacturers) rarely make updates to the in-built browsers in older TV models.  The problem is that they cannot update them to cover modern technology, when that technology has FAR surpassed the fixed harware in the TV (chip-sets, memory, CPU power etc), especially in an item that is over 5 years old.

What functions or web-sites do you need to use on the TV, that you cannot use properly with a Laptop or PC, or iPAD?

Well that helped me quite a bit, so what should I do? Throw it in the Trash? 😆 Lol. I grew up in the 60s Tin foil on the rabbit ears and pliers on top of the set. TVs had to last a minimum 10 yrs.

Ya know I don't even own a desktop or laptop. Because About 5 yrs ago I bought a higher.  end Motorola E5 play. Cost me almost $500. I actually fell so in love with it. One day was cleaning said what do I need these "Old Dinosaurs" for?

So I threw them in the trash. Was before I learned Android and Laptops/Desktops are NOT comparable. Lol 😂 which is why I'm so angry with my TV cause now can't use the Browser to full capacity. Am gonna have to "Bite that Bullet" sooner or later. But my cellphone is almost a Dinosaur also. But it is REALLY lightning Fast. So here's a trivia Question for you.. What were the pliers on top of the TV set used for?????

Anyone out there know???

Although I appreciate the timely response.

Thank you

Hi everyone, I have a recent problem with my lg smart tv web browser. TV's model is 50UH635V and I've noticed that the browser can't open certain websites showing the message "the browser is no longer supported". Is there any solution to this? Can I install a 3rd party browser to my TV, like mozilla, chrome, something like that?

My LG 49UB850V LED TV  browser is too old. The most of the pages not work any more. How to easy update just one simple browser app? For example, often browser show error during open new page. It show certificate expire problem and page not load at all.
This mean LG sell product without update at least browser certificate and now we are stuck and can not even load one page from WWW.

Shame on you LG. I will not buy any more from you.  How dificolt is to release new update to update OS certificates? Microsoft Windows did this, android did also for old phones, etc... Really, can not undestend this asian people from Korea.

It seems that the latest version of the WebOS browser on LG Smart TV's lacks the support for Javascript modules (ES6).
Can this be implemented / activated?

As above! All4 & My5 will no longer work. Also, how do you update the browser? My LG nano TV is just over 3 years old.
