How to install Disney Hotstar app on LG TV

Question

Posted

Hello,

I've a LG 55 inch TV with following details:

  • Model: 55JL9000-ZA
  • SW version: 05.05.70
  • webOS TV Version: 1.4.0-2532 (afro-ashley)

I am unable to see Disney Hotstar app in the LG Content Store.

I've tried to "CHECK FOR UPDATES" despite "Allow Automatic Updates" available but nothing has shown up.

Would be grateful if someone can help. My kids are desperate to watch Disney Hotstar on TV.

Thanks.

@Kunal

NOTE:Disney Plus service is only available in few countries, including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Ireland, Switzerland, India, and Puerto Rico.

ALSO: Disney Plus app is compatible with LG TV models from 2016 and onwards that has 3.0 webOS or later.

There are lots of sites that show using a VPN service, but be VERY CAREFUL going to those, some are spammy/scam sites, and you might end up purchasing a VPN service that does not work or breaks your current, working network service. Some might even put malware on the device that you download it to, or at the very least have PUP programs inside them for advertising.

Try to change the region in your TV settings to India and use Indian vpn or smart dns like described on Medium

That will give you an opportunity to access Indian based LG Content Store.

The international content on JioCinema and Hotstar apps are not playing. No issues with Indian content in Hindi or other regional languages. But English, Korean, and Japanese content are not playing. Specifically, I want to play Disney content on Hotstar and HBO content on JioCinema App.
I tried resetting all configurations and reinstalling the applications and re-logging into the apps. Still, the issue persists. I tried switching off the TV and tried pressing the power button for complete discharge and rebooting my router, but the same issue persists.
**I found a workaround though, changing the wifi network or using a mobile hotspot on TV and then all content plays well even if I revert to my primary Airtel wifi, It still plays. but the next day the same issue continues.
It's an overhead to switch the wifi every time I want to watch Hollywood titles. Certainly, it's not the experience I want with a TV of a hefty price tag. No other devices (Mac, ios, android, windows, Android TV) have this problem. Also, it's not the wifi issue, as I can watch the same titles on other devices. The LG TV also doesn't have the capability to remember a few WiFi networks to ease this workaround of switching networks.
Alas, Nobody informed me about this issue earlier while making the purchase. Now such pricey TVs shouldn't have these issues at all. Kindly let me know If there is a permanent fix for this issue.

      Hi,
I have a Disney+ premium subscription. But if I play a Dolby Atmos Film on Disney+ on my LG OLED G4 (e.g. guardians of the galaxy vol. 3) the Dolby Atmos signal doesn't reach my soundbar (LG ds95qr) which is connected via HDMI cable over eArc. On the TV only Dolby vision Logo is showing. Any suggestions?

My LG 49UB850V LED TV  browser is too old. The most of the pages not work any more. How to easy update just one simple browser app? For example, often browser show error during open new page. It show certificate expire problem and page not load at all.
This mean LG sell product without update at least browser certificate and now we are stuck and can not even load one page from WWW.

Shame on you LG. I will not buy any more from you.  How dificolt is to release new update to update OS certificates? Microsoft Windows did this, android did also for old phones, etc... Really, can not undestend this asian people from Korea.
