SEOUL, Feb. 27, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) has added to its rich legacy of design excellence with an impressive presence at the iF Design Award 2025. LG’s tally of 36 awards, which includes a Gold Award, underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to innovative product design and the delivery of superior customer experiences.
The iF Design Award, held annually in Germany, is considered one of the world’s top industrial design competitions, alongside the Red Dot Award and the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA). The iF Design Award recognizes significant achievements in design across nine categories: Product, Communication, User Experience (UX), User Interface (UI), Packaging, Interior Architecture, Professional Concept, Architecture and Service Design.
This year, the groundbreaking LG SIGNATURE OLED T, the world’s first transparent and true wireless* 4K OLED TV, was honored with the Gold Award in the Product category. OLED T can transform from transparent to opaque screen; a unique ability that provides the OLED viewing experience while offering greater freedom in living space. When set to Black screen, LG’s one-of-a-kind TV is ideal for content viewing and gaming; its 77-inch 4K-resolution OLED screen providing deep blacks, vibrant colors, sharp detail and an ultra-fast response time. In Transparent Screen mode, the TV helps to create a remarkable sense of openness in the living environment, and can also captivate users by displaying ethereal digital images that appear to float magically in the air.
In addition to the Gold Award, an additional 27 LG innovations were recognized in the Product Design category. These award-winning products include the LG AI Home smart home hub; LG Smart Home AI Agent, a mobile smart home hub capable of interacting with customers; LG QNED, featuring a sleek and sophisticated design with a slim profile; LG StanbyME 2, a unique display that offers exceptional flexibility with its detachable stand; and the LG SIGNATURE refrigerator with Smart InstaView, which uses transparent OLED technology to allow users to see inside without having to open the door.
Furthermore, the company also received awards in the Communication, UX, UI and Packaging categories, earning recognition for its innovative technologies designed to provide customers with intuitive access to features and services. Notable winners include the LG ThinQ 3D Home View, which allows users to view their living space in 3D within the LG ThinQ smart home platform; LG ThinQ Character, which can communicate with customers in a friendly, human-like manner within the ThinQ app; and LG Iconography, which makes it quick and easy for users to see all the features and services offered by their connected LG products.

Kim Fuses Art and Technology to Explore Contemporary Issues
SEOUL, Feb. 25, 2025 — LG and the Guggenheim New York proudly announce Ayoung Kim as the 2025 LG Guggenheim Award recipient. Kim is the third artist to be recognized as part of the LG Guggenheim Art and Technology Initiative, a five-year, multifaceted collaboration designed to research, honor and promote artists working at the intersection of art and technology. Selected by an international jury of leaders in contemporary art, Kim will receive an unrestricted honorarium of USD 100,000 in celebration of her groundbreaking contributions to this field.
“At its core, Ayoung Kim’s pathbreaking work invites viewers not only to marvel at her technical mastery but also to engage with deep questions about time and the human experience in an accelerating digital age. By revealing the convergence of machines and humanity, her visionary work illuminates the most pressing challenges of our era. I am both honored and proud that Kim is recognized as a leading voice through this award,” states Naomi Beckwith, Deputy Director and Jennifer and David Stockman Chief Curator at the Guggenheim New York.

Trained in motion graphics and lens-based media, Kim creates fantastical, meticulously crafted virtual environments using emerging technologies. Her work builds on classical cinematic tropes, combining live action, motion capture and animation software, game engines and image-generation technologies. She explores virtual reality and live simulation alongside more traditional mediums like performance, sculpture and printmaking.
Inspired by Webtoon aesthetics and the concept of GL (Girls’ Love), Kim transforms firsthand research and documentary fieldwork into immersive speculative worlds. Her work ranges from in-depth historical research on ancient cosmologies to intimate studies of the daily lives of algorithmically managed service workers and refugees, weaving vast, epic narratives that cross time, space, cultures and languages. A master of storytelling and worldbuilding, Kim advocates for AI (artificial intelligence) literacy and a deeper understanding of the boundary between humans and machines, reflecting her profound interest in particle science, quantum realities and the interconnected possibilities of multiple worlds. Her forward-thinking, inventive practice pushes the boundaries of art and technology, offering a vision of the future shaped by both.
“As technology advances, human life inevitably becomes more intricate. What artists can do with technology is explore the uncertain possibilities it may conceal and deploy it in the most intuitive way. Neither a techno-determinist nor a techno-pessimist, I have always wanted to comment on the impact of technology in our society by using it. Eun Seok-Hyun Honored in Leader Category for His Contributions to the Mobility
Sector and the Advancement of LG’s SDV Technologies
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2025 — LG Electronics (LG) is proud to announce that Eun Seok-hyun, president of the LG Vehicle Solution (VS) Company, has been recognized with the 2025 MotorTrend Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) Innovator Award in the Leader category. The award acknowledges his exceptional leadership and contributions to software-driven innovation in the automotive sector. Hosted by MotorTrend, a highly-respected U.S.-based automotive media company, the SDV Innovator Award ceremony was held on January 7 during CES in Las Vegas.
Eun Seok-hyun’s well-deserved recognition underscores LG’s growing influence in shaping the future of mobility and SDV technologies. Mr. Eun, who has more than two decades of experience working in the automotive industry, has been at the helm of the LG VS Company since December 2022. Throughout his career, he has focused on driving innovation in key areas such as infotainment, display, telematics and automotive vision systems.
A prime example of the Company’s progress under Mr. Eun’s leadership is the launch of LG AlphaWare in 2024. The “Lifestyle Solution for Mobility” concept vehicle, on display at the company’s booth, introduces the LG Mobility Experience (MX) platform. This groundbreaking mobility space solution integrates a full suite of LG’s smart life solutions to create a seamless connection between mobility and the AI Home, offering entirely new lifestyle experiences.
LG’s MX platform expands the definition of home solutions, creating a new type of multifaceted, multipurpose space. Using a modular package system, the platform integrates LG’s innovative appliance hardware and AI technologies to transform the vehicle cabin into an adaptable environment. This space can function as an extension of the home, a private media lounge or a creative studio, unlocking a raft of exciting “Space-as-an-Experience” opportunities for potential customers.
The MX platform aligns with prevailing auto industry trends and customer preferences, which are shifting away from traditional notions of transportation and towards the idea of vehicles as a personalized lifestyle space. The platform offers a tailored lifestyle experience where the latest products, AI solutions and services synergize to support superior user comfort and convenience.
The MX platform features a dual-cabin design: a front driver’s cabin and a rear customizable experience space. Users can configure this versatile space in a variety of different ways, such as dividing it into multifunctional zones or converting it into a hyper-personalized lifestyle spaces complete like a creator studio, business lounge or separate zones for relaxation and hobbies. The modular design makes it possible to equip the rear cabin with various appliances, enabling users to select combinations that meet their particular needs and preferences. LG plans to offer the MX platform as a subscription service, making it accessible to a broader audience.
Powered by LG’s AI Home solution, ThinQ ON, the MX platform lets users tailor conditions inside the vehicle and enjoy helpful lifestyle services such as daily schedule management and information briefings. Additional services from external providers – including food and beverage order, laundry and hotel booking – can be integrated to further expand and enrich the user experience.
