ABC Iview has stopped working on my LG smart TVs.

Question

Posted

It starts ok but when I select a program it just sits there with the 'wheel' turning. It works ok on my phone and ipad. Have tried updating tv operating system and iview app but they seem to be at the latest version. Anyone else having problems?

Hey Rex. Me too - some problem. I did all the same recommended steps, but the spinning circle of iview continues. It is odd that I can use iview right up until I select the program to watch.

I'm also having issues wth playback stuttering and various error codes - codes this far 1003, 6007, 3916. This has been happening for approximately 10 days; no issues previously

Rebooted modem,  which temporarily works but then problem re-presents.  Re-linked TV to app with no success on eliminating errors.

Yes, this started about a week ago. Everything works except streaming content where I only get a spinning circle. Other devices still stream correctly. Something is broken in the LGOS iview app.

Same  for me. LG WebOS latest version. iView app latest version (uninstalled, reinstalled, relinked, logged in). I know iView is no longer supported on an older LG Smart TV but, in that case the app doesn't even start. This time it starts, refreshes catalogue, navigates, launches a show/channel then just doesn't stream.

Inability to access Australia's  ABC Iview is likely due to the need to log into iview with a valid email and password which became necessary a few weeks ago.

link hidden, please login to view

On your TV you should get a message saying go here:

and a 4 character code to link a signed in device to the TV.

Worked fine for me.

The problem started for me when iview forced me to sign about two weeks ago. I set up an account, linked to the tv, selected a show and the video wouldn't play. The wheel just kept spinning . It worked fine the day before when I didn't have to log in. I tried relinking the user, reinstalling iview, rebooted modem, checked tv updates but nothing worked.

Finally I got sick of not being able to watch anything so I reset the tv to factory default and reinstalled iview, which fixed the problem. Now I just have to hide all the of the shopping channels and install the other apps.

Thanks Drew

did a factory reset and worked for me too!  Still haven’t received an answer from LG (apart from an acknowledgment and request for software versions) - maybe they will see these posts

LG responded to me and are attributing the issue to Abciview and have referred the master to them.  I have always used Abciview whilst signed in so not sure if that is actually my issue. That being said, the other day and  for the first time in weeks, I could watch uninterrupted so let's see how it goes.

webOS updated, I think to 2023, on my C2 a couple of days ago. Since then the News option on the Sky News app no longer works, instead timing out. The Weather and Climate options still work, though.
I have deleted and reloaded the Sky News app, but the problem remains.
Does anybody have any suggestions of what I might try to get this working again, or is this something for LG, or Sky, to fix?

For the past few years I have been using a 2nd generation Apple TV to watch YouTube videos on my LG Smart TV, however as of today Apple have disabled their YouTube app for this particular device.
I presumed I would be able to use a YouTube app on my TV to continue watching videos in this way, after all has anyone ever heard of a Smart TV without a YouTube app? Since most new TVs are smart TVs these days most people I know have one and they all have the capability to play YouTube videos, usually you don't even have to download the app as it is one of the ones that comes pre-installed.
However I cannot find a YouTube app in the LG content store. I've not really tried to install new apps on my TV since getting it so I don't know if I'm looking in the right place, or it is one of those things like with smartphones where there are multiple places you can go and download apps from.
Bizarrely though, despite there being no YouTube app, there is a YouTube kids app, so it's not like LG have never heard of YouTube or anything, they just don't seem to have realised that people other than kids watch videos on it.

      I have the model - MyView 32SR83U-W 31.5"

Hello, Not sure if you can help, the user manual certainly CAN'T help!   When I first setup the monitor, It asked what the default mode will be, I selected PC, and default input HDMI1 I have it connected to a MAC Mini M4 with HDMI cable, every time the Mac Mini goes into sleep mode or I leave for a while, the Monitor Switches off,  cannot be woken up by the mac mini by hitting the keyboard or mouse as per normal monitor. I have to power ON the monitor with the remote and manually select HDMI1 to go back to using the Mac Mini I can't find the settings section to check the Default Power on or wake up Mode settings are, the manual does not provide this information. Very annoying!

I’ve just got home after being away 2 years, and got the tv out of storage. When we try and watch the news live in the. Morning every few minutes the video and sound stop and then after a few seconds the circle appears and starts spinning. Then the program starts again and it’s fine for a little while, and then it stops again.
I have checked for updates of the TV OS and iView (2021 is the latest)
If I use iView on my iOS device and then airplay it to the tv it works fine with no problems. If I watch any program on iview that would have been prerecorded, even if I’m watching it “live” it’s fine.
I see a few people were having a problem with all iView programs back in 2022, but they resolved.

      can anybody suggest any solutions?

      Thanks
      Charlie
