This applies to customer experiences on the road, with more drivers searching for mobility solutions that actively assess – and adapt to – their very own driving scenario. Thanks to intelligent camera sensors which retrieve and assess all kinds of roadside information, cars can now think for themselves, providing adjustments tailored to each driving situation without drivers having to do the tweaking themselves.

Camera sensors are image, distance and object-based sensors which provide the driver with important identifiable information about the vehicle’s surroundings. They are crucially different to standard cameras in that they not only capture images but also make active assessment of the information displayed in these images. With a variety of functions such as measuring vehicle distance to recognize imminent collisions and assessing when the driver veers out of lane, camera sensors play a fundamental role in safe driving and are pivotal for the customized, proactive mobility experience that today’s drivers demand.

Using Data to Transform Driving Experiences

Built-in camera sensors have shifted the paradigm of driving. In the past, the driver was entirely responsible for judging traffic and maneuvering the vehicle. But with camera sensors now acting as an extra pair of eyes, vehicles can take a lot of the work.

The core technology that makes autonomous driving possible is the Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) and its cameras. Like the name suggests, these cameras detect traffic, signals, vehicle speeds, direction, pedestrians and all other important information located within the driving environment.

The customized information these sensors collect not only plays an instrumental role in detecting potential vehicle hazards and establishing a safe driving environment, but also unlocks a more pleasurable and convenient driving experience.

Today’s most advanced automobiles are fully equipped with recognition technology that lets them perform a multitude of tasks when given simple gestures by the driver. For instance, some cars unlock when it senses the owner is nearby, others adjust the seats once recognizing the person or open the sunroof with a wave of a hand – and some do it all. What’s more, if you enjoy nodding your head along to your favorite songs on the road, you can even register a unique hand gesture for cranking up the volume.

Beyond hand gestures, cars can recognize the identity of everyone on board through built-in interior cameras, which means it can adjust seats and temperatures specifically for that person automatically. While services may vary by manufacturer, these automatic, sensor-powered features are essential for shaping the tailored driving experiences we can claim with the latest vehicles.

Other than these tailor-made features to maximize the driver’s comfort, LG’s award-winning ADAS system and its top-notch camera sensors come with a variety of features to ensure the safest driving experience. For an inexperienced or distracted driver, it’s quite easy to veer out of lane – which may potentially lead to various incidents, including striking other vehicles or roadside objects. In such situations, the camera sensor comes to aid by monitoring the car’s lane departure and transmitting the visual information to the ADAS system. The ADAS then gives the driver a warning to get back on track, or in the case of more advanced and autonomous systems, will gently lead the automobile back to the original lane.

The ADAS system and its built-in camera sensors play an important role in forward collision avoidance as well. For those times when the driver cannot immediately catch onto the sudden appearance of vehicle obstacles, camera sensors act as a handy second pair of eyes. For instance, when a pedestrian bounds across the road and the driver cannot react accordingly, camera sensors will capture the information so that the ADAS system can give out an emergency signal, or if necessary, set off the emergency brakes automatically.

      In line with this mission, LG Electronics Development Vietnam (LGEDV), an R&D subsidiary of LG Electronics, recently celebrated the success of its LG Dream Code 2024 program, which concluded with finals held in Hanoi and Da Nang on October 19.

      LG Dream Code 2024 provided an engaging platform where students tackled programming challenges designed by LG’s expert developers. More than just a competition, this initiative connects LG with young talent, nurturing the next generation of IT professionals in Southeast Asia. This investment in Vietnam’s tech-savvy youth not only aims to strengthen LG’s workforce but also to support the country’s growing digital economy.

      The competition saw an enthusiastic turnout, with 677 applications submitted by university students nationwide between September 9-30. This response underscores the pivotal role companies like LG play in developing young talent eager to begin their careers in tech.

      The national competition’s final round was held at two esteemed institutions: the National University of Technology in Hanoi, where 30 students participated, and Duy Tan University in Da Nang, hosting 22 students.

      In these rigorous finals, 52 contestants faced challenging exams crafted by LG’s top programmers. The event honored the top five contestants in each city, with the top three receiving cash prizes: VND 15 million (USD 600) for first place, VND 10 million (USD 400) for second and VND 5 million (USD 200) for third.

      In Hanoi, Nguyen Duc Thang from the National Economics University took home the grand prize, with second place awarded to Lai Minh Quang from the National University of Economics and Tran Hoang Son from Hanoi FPT University. Nguyen Tan Nguyen from Hanoi National University of Technology and Phung Danh Chi Vi from Hanoi University of Science and Technology claimed third place.

      In Da Nang, Le Ngoc Bao Anh from Da Nang University of Technology took first place. Second place went to Le Tang Phu Quy from Vietnam University of Information and Communication Technology and Ngo Van Hai from Hue University’s University of Science and Technology, with Vo Dac Bao An and Luu Duy Quang from Da Nang University of Technology finishing in third.

      At the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) conference in Berlin, Germany, from October 21-24, LG introduced its latest innovations in future mobility: “Soft V2X” and “Smart Roadside Units (RSU).” This integrated traffic safety solution leverages V2X technology to collect and anonymize data, such as the location, direction and speed of pedestrians and vehicles. This data is shared and analyzed in real-time via the Soft V2X Cloud and various devices equipped with Soft V2X software, allowing for timely alerts to users regarding potential dangers. In addition, Soft V2X collaborates with Smart RSUs to provide essential safety information like traffic conditions, potential hazards and signals timings. The software is engineered for compatibility with a range of autonomous vehicles and delivery robots, opening up possibilities for future mobility applications.

      LG is leading the development of Soft V2X and Smart RSU, utilizing the results of these validations as a foundation to evolve toward Harmonized V2X. LG is continuously strengthening and maintaining its leadership by proposing the technological direction and validating every step of the way. Through these advancements, LG engaged with global companies at the conference, encouraging them to join in this strategic journey. The company outlined the steps toward Harmonized V2X, emphasizing its practicality and efficiency. Many global companies resonated with this vision, positioning the commercialization of V2N services as a top priority on the 5GAA roadmap.

      During the conference, LG offered attendees a firsthand experience of its integrated safety solutions in real-world conditions by inviting them to ride in vehicles and shuttles along a 5.6-kilometer stretch of road in Berlin equipped with various V2X technologies. A video demonstration illustrated the numerous use cases and technologies involved.

      The demonstration showcased how the system enhances road safety. For example, if a pedestrian, cyclist and driver all use the Soft V2X app, the applications can detect each other and share anonymized information. This allows the driver to receive alerts to slow down if a pedestrian or cyclist is approaching a crosswalk (or jaywalking) at high speed. The app also provides real-time updates about approaching emergency vehicles or construction work, enabling the driver to adjust their route for a more efficient journey. Even in situations where a pedestrian is not using the app, the vehicle’s application can still receive data from surrounding Smart RSUs to notify the driver.

      In Berlin, Kim Hak-seong, leader of Advanced V2X Task at LG Electronics, presented “Steps Forward for V2X Evolution,” focusing on pilot projects making school and kindergarten zones safer in South Korea.
      LG is also ensuring global compliance for seamless market integration. The company is well-designed to meet global standards, enabling seamless, sustainable and scalable market expansion. It complies with European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) standards for the European region, as well as Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) standards for the North American region.

      Vision Display: Shaping the Future of Automotive Interiors

      The Connectivity & Content solution transforms the rear passenger seats into an interactive entertainment hub, enhancing in-car experiences through 5G network connectivity and LG’s webOS platform.       It is unprofessional on part of LG TV that they do not resolve the basic issue of adding app gCmob in their app store.
      My 50UT80506LA LG WebOs TV does not support my office security camera system via wifi to TV.  We need (gCmob app) in list of app.
      I can't connect my office camera via Wi-Fi to LG-TV. No body in LG TV technical team is proactive in resolving the issue of customer. They are more happy to befool the customers, rather than looking for technical solution through wider thinking.
      Please talk to you top management and make a visit to our office to understand the customers plight..
