Over the past decade, LG has solidified its leadership of the premium TV market through the continuous evolution of its OLED TVs. The company’s commitment to understanding and catering to users’ needs is reflected in its latest OLED products – tailored solutions that deliver superior performance, convenience, usability and accessibility. To create these masterpieces of home entertainment and modern living, LG has done what it has always done: listen carefully to its customers and find innovative technology and design solutions that add value to everyday life.

A New Level of Innovation with LG OLED

As a result of always putting customers’ needs first, LG OLED has become a mainstay of the global premium TV market in 10 years. Its unmatched contrast brings incomparable viewer immersion, enabling perfect blacks and true-to-nature colors that make any kind of content look and feel more real. Additionally, the unprecedented flexibility of the company’s OLED technology has led to unique new form factors and a previously unobtainable level of thinness.

Among the innovative form factors the company has introduced is the LG SIGNATURE OLED R, which features a rollable self-lit screen that can roll down and disappear into the TV’s base. The rollable OLED was developed with the goal of removing the ‘big black screen’ from users’ living rooms; giving them back their space and providing a greater degree of decorating freedom.

This year, LG OLED achieved a significant milestone with the unveiling of the LG SIGNATURE OLED M3. The groundbreaking product is the first-ever TV with a wireless solution capable of video and audio transmission at 4K 120Hz – a feat made possible by LG’s Zero Connect technology. At 97-inch, the M3 also offers the largest screen size of any OLED TV currently available.

The impressive TV and its cutting-edge wireless solution provide a stylish, distraction-free viewing experience, and were designed in response to customers’ desire to have more scope and individual choice when it comes to curating the layout and look of their living space.

Enhancing the User Experience and Everyday Life

Nowadays, people care about more than just tech specs and screen sizes, seeking TVs that can deliver next-level convenience and a personalized user experience.

When consumers told LG they wanted an OLED TV that could be conveniently mounted flush to the wall, the company listened. Applied to the Gallery OLED TV lineup, LG’s refined Gallery Design allows the rear of the TV to ‘hug’ the wall, presenting consumers with a remarkable centerpiece for their space – one that looks like a part of the wall and delivers a truly immersive viewing experience. This year’s G3 OLED evo models boast an aesthetic upgrade via the introduction of the ultra-seamless One Wall Design, which leaves no visible gap when the TVs are installed. LG has also added convenience through adopting a composite fiber material* that reduces the overall weight of its OLED TVs, making them much easier to move and mount.

Part premium TV, part sophisticated furniture piece, each LG Lifestyle Screen presents differentiated value that goes far beyond what a conventional TV can offer. LG OLED Objet Collection Posé, for example, augments the surrounding décor with its unique, aesthetically-pleasing appearance, and has an effective cable management system that helps users enjoy a cleaner space. In addition to looking stylish from any angle, Posé provides stunning OLED evo picture quality with vibrant, distortion-free colors from practically any viewing angle.

Personalized TV Experience

LG is changing the way people use and think about TV by providing personalized experiences based on its Life’s Good philosophy and Sync to You, Open to All vision. The latest LG TVs offer various customizable features and settings – including user interface configuration, content recommendations and picture options – that users can fine-tune to suit their individual preferences. By leveraging usage-data, LG can suggest features and recommend apps, services and shows tailored to the tastes of each user. Along with the ability to automatically adjust color and contrast according to how the user likes them, the company’s new TVs deliver the ease and intelligence of AI Concierge, which not only provides a curated selection of content choices based on past usage and searches, but also suggests trending titles as well as useful settings and features.

With a decade of OLED TV expertise already under its belt, LG is determined to maintain its dominance in the premium TV market. The company understands that delivering unparalleled customer experiences is key to the future success of LG OLED, and looks forward to creating new value and new consumer-driven display innovations that enhance everyday life.

Company Enhances Smart Home Connectivity With Open API

SEOUL, Dec. 17, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) has fully opened the Application Programming Interface (API) of its smart home platform, LG ThinQ, enabling developers to easily create smart spaces with LG appliances.
Recently, LG launched the LG Smart Solution API Developer website (
link hidden, please login to view) to officially open up the LG ThinQ API. An API acts as a digital connector that allows different software to exchange functions seamlessly. Developers can utilize the open API to integrate various features from LG AI appliances into their programs or systems, enhancing their services. The LG ThinQ API is divided into two categories: the ThinQ API for individual users and the ThinQ Business API for corporate partners. The ThinQ API allows for remote control of LG devices installed in homes or buildings and facilitates integration with various platforms.
For individual users, the ThinQ API supports the control and monitoring of AI appliances registered in the LG ThinQ app from various smart home platforms. By utilizing the ThinQ API, anyone can easily create a customized smart home that fits their lifestyle. For example, users of the global smart home platform Home Assistant can now connect and control 26 types of LG AI appliances, including refrigerators and washing machines, within their existing smart home environment. Home Assistant is a community-based open platform with about one million users worldwide who collaboratively develop various smart home functions such as device automation and feature expansion.
For enterprises, the ThinQ Business API supports partners operating office or residential buildings in integrating and managing various LG products, from appliances to commercial equipment like HVAC and signage, with their existing apps. For instance, large residential buildings can integrate LG appliances with their existing management apps for more convenient use. Residents can reserve the use of LG washers and dryers in common areas through the building management app, or administrators can detect abnormal conditions in the building using LG’s temperature and humidity sensors and quickly respond to issues through alert functions.
Meanwhile, LG has accelerated the integration of external products and services into the LG ThinQ platform by acquiring the smart home platform company Athom, known for its extensive IoT device connectivity. Athom’s smart home hub Homey currently connects over 50,000 types of appliances and IoT devices, and the Athom app store features around 1,000 apps that connect and control products and services from global brands like Philips and Aqara. LG plans to integrate Athom’s extensive open ecosystem and IoT device connectivity into the AI home hub LG ThinQ On, aiming to realize an AI home where generative AI better understands customers and provides optimal space solutions.
“With the official launch of ThinQ AI, we aim to deepen engagement with open-source community smart home power users in the open-source community and broaden our collaboration with B2B partners. This initiative will bolster our efforts to create smart home ecosystems powered by LG appliances, enhancing customer experiences across multiple touchpoints,” said Kim Kun-woo, vice president of LG’s Home Appliance Solution Company.

All of a sudden, the row of inputs showed up at the bottom of the home screen on my C1. I’ve tried every setting but can’t seem to get rid of them. I used to just call them up as needed (input button on remote) but now they’re there permanently. Any ideas?

In the bedroom, the LG PuriCare360 Alpha PET air purifier became an indispensable element by quietly cleaning the air, ensuring the best night’s sleep. Its unique two-tiered cylindrical design added a stylish touch that accentuated the relaxing ambiance of the room. The stylish LG Stanby ME smart screen, with various customization options and effortless portability, was another popular choice for family homes.
Another design marvel for the home was the LG Objet Styler, which boasts a modern design with minimalist square edges, resembling a small wardrobe. To ensure it blends effortlessly into any interior, its screen can be hidden away and only appears when touched by the user. Meanwhile, the LG WashTower introduced a “new breeze” to laundry spaces with its stacked washer and dryer design, utilizing a single control panel for optimal cleaning while saving valuable space.

Beyond its pioneering and creative designs, the LG Objet Collection integrates LG’s leading technologies, allowing customers to enjoy a daily paradise of convenience. Each product in the high-end collection connects seamlessly to the LG ThinQ app, empowering users to control their devices via smartphone, ensuring spaces are always tailored to their preferences.

Interior design experts note that the subtle yet elegant colors of beige, black and green not only allow the LG Objet Collection harmonize with a wide array of design styles but also add a touch of refinement and coziness to living spaces. These colors contrast beautifully with natural elements like stone, wood and tiles, enhancing the overall depth of the décor.

With today’s customers expecting new products to do more with less, the experience space also showcased LG PuriCare Aero Furniture, featuring a unique design that resembles a modern coffee table. Complete with a control panel and a wireless charging pad for smart devices, its cylindrical base purifies the air while maintaining a sleek aesthetic.
This collaboration between LG and AKA exemplifies the ideal home for modern consumers, merging aesthetically pleasing designs with life-enriching functionality. It reflects LG’s long-standing commitment to enhancing the overall user experience while promoting easier interactions with their products.

“While IR is traditionally understood as Investor Relations, I view it as Insight Relations.” LG CEO William Cho has often expressed this sentiment, and I wholeheartedly share his point of view. Over the last 25 years, I have dedicated considerable time to understanding the intricacies of the world’s capital markets, including a stint as an analyst in the IT and tech industry. My experiences have shown me that the active exchange of information and knowledge between companies and investors is essential for mutual success. Today, I take great joy and satisfaction in seeing our company make a significant impact in the market and among investors by presenting our latest business strategies. Being part of this new leap forward is truly gratifying.
Last year, we announced a major business transformation, unveiling our vision to become a “Smart Life Solution Company” that connects customer experiences across home, commercial spaces, mobility and even the metaverse. To achieve this, we have set ourselves the “Triple Seven” target: seeking to reach seven percent average growth rate, seven percent operating profit and an enterprise multiple (EV/EBITDA) of seven, all by 2030. We also plan to invest over KRW 50 trillion for qualitative growth by the beginning of the next decade.

Naturally, the attention of Korean and global investors and analysts began to focus on our enterprise value. Numerous questions were raised regarding the foundation and substance of our “Smart Life Solutions,” our growth potential and whether the announced changes were valuable enough to warrant the long-term investment of assets. As an analyst who has witnessed LG’s various transformations and efforts over the years, the initial market reaction was entirely understandable.
Building on “responsibility” and “authentic communication,” which have been upheld as core values of investor relations (IR) for decades, we have expanded the involvement and role of top management, thereby enhancing trust in our corporate activities. We have also significantly improved policies aimed at increasing shareholder value. In addition, we are expanding efforts to contribute to the healthy development of capital markets from a macro perspective.
      Communication Leadership

As the shift in business direction marks a critical turning point with regard to the company’s future blueprint, it was only natural for those leading the changes to step forward and take on the role of “communicators.” Accordingly, starting with the
link hidden, please login to view, our CEO, CFO and other top executives have engaged in open and candid communications at key IR events, such as the general shareholders’ meeting, corporate briefings for global investors and . Beginning this year, the regular earnings conference calls, which were previously led by IR and business unit management, are now overseen directly by the CFO.  Active Policy Changes to Improve Shareholder Value
In addition, we announced a new three-year dividend policy (covering fiscal years 2024 to 2026) earlier this year aimed at enhancing shareholder value. This policy includes changes such as adjusting the dividend record date, changing the dividend cycle, setting a minimum base dividend and increasing the dividend payout ratio.
In August, we became the first among the affiliates of Korea’s top 10 conglomerates to announce a value-up participation disclosure aimed at enhancing corporate value. On October 22, we ,” a master plan to boost shareholder value and normalize the company’s valuation. To enhance predictability for investors, we will continue with the base (minimum) dividend of KRW 1,000 per share and semi-annual dividends, which both began this year, while also considering quarterly dividends in the future.

      Growth with the Market
Most people reading this article are likely well aware that companies, investors and the market are interconnected in an organic relationship. LG Electronics aims for healthy, mutual growth with the capital market. To this end, we have developed an IR Activity Management System that quantitatively analyzes IR activities for publicly listed companies and are sharing our operational know-how both internally and externally. Additionally, we have been collaborating with the Korea Investor Relations Service (KIRS) for several years, giving lectures on the direction of IR activities related to ESG (environmental, social and governance) and consistently contributing to the development of the capital market.
Personally, as an analyst, I take great pride in sharing the knowledge and expertise I have accumulated from working at various companies and, through this, contributing to the positive cycle of market development alongside my colleagues.

Earlier this month, we were honored with the Financial Services Commission Chairman’s Award (Grand Prize), the highest award in the corporate category, at the 2024 Korea IR Awards hosted by the KIRS.* The award holds great significance as it acknowledges our contributions to maintaining systematic and sincere communications with the market, as well as our efforts to secure a stable investment base as recognized by capital market authorities and various experts.

Going forward, we will continue our commitment to proactive and genuine communication across all business activities to further build investor trust. I, too, will continue to strive to establish LG as an “Insight Leader” that drives healthy, mutual growth for the market, companies and investors alike.
