Featuring the biggest light show in Australia, Sydney’s annually-held festival, which is now in its thirteenth year, will introduce locals and visitors to LG’s innovative InstaView™ fridge with MoodUP.

A truly revolutionary kitchen appliance, the LG InstaView fridge with MoodUP has color-changing door panels that provide a whole new level of personalization. , spanning eight compelling categories: Energetic, Cruisy, Whimsical, Cheerful, Adventurous, Creative, Soulful and Curious. After completing the quiz, visitors can capture the moment with a 360-degree photo and – by answering some questions about the kind of Vivid experience they’re looking for – can receive a personalized Vivid Sydney itinerary.

The ability to tailor the itinerary to the preferences of each visitor is made possible through the convenient accessibility of a web-augmented reality (web-AR) platform, which can be easily accessed using a compatible smart device.2

For more interactive enjoyment, LG has developed unique AR placements, strategically situated at various points along Vivid Sydney’s dazzling, eight-kilometer-long light walk. These exclusive AR placements, also accessible through web-AR on compatible devices, present different activities to enhance the experience of the festival’s immersive light show. To ensure they don’t miss out on any of the captivating AR, visitors can opt to receive prompts on their smartphones alerting them that they’ve arrived at one of LG’s AR-enabled locations.

“Our personalizable, customizable InstaView fridge with MoodUP offers a wide array of colors to suit any tastes or preferences, and we’re very excited to be showcasing it at Vivid Sydney,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “During Sydney’s iconic festival, visitors will have the chance to experience a range of engaging interactions with our innovative fridge, which we plan to release in Australia this summer – the first time it will be available outside of South Korea.”

From May 26 to June 17, experience the vibrant and diverse colors of the LG InstaView fridge with MoodUP at Vivid Sydney’s immersive ‘MoodUP, by LG’ activation, taking place outside of Customs House in Circular Quay, Sydney, Australia.

Samsung has made fridges with touchscreens before. LG has made fridges with doors that turn transparent to show you the inside. This year at CES 2018, those two ideas are finally merging into one with LG’s new InstaView ThinQ smart refrigerator, which features a 29-inch touchscreen that becomes transparent if users knock on it twice.
LG actually tried this two years ago, with a version called the Smart InstaView Door-in-Door that ran a full version of Windows 10, but it’s not clear that the company ever shipped the Windows version.
This version uses the touchscreen to manage your food using LG’s webOS software and Amazon’s Alexa, which will let you tag food with virtual stickers and expiration dates and get automatic reminders when things are running low or about to go bad. There’s also a wide-angle panoramic camera on the inside of the fridge that will let you remotely view your fridge while you’re out and about to check and see if you’re actually out of milk or not.

Unfortunately, the only image that LG has shared showing the fridge is a low-resolution shot on its YouTube page banner, but it seems that you’ll be able to still use the screen while it’s translucent, allowing you to tag food directly in a vaguely augmented reality-esque move.
LG is also touting how all of its ThinQ kitchen gadgets can talk to each other to make kitchen tasks easier. So your ThinQ fridge can talk to your EasyClean oven, which will help you cook food through step-by-step instructions from the recipe app from your fridge. Then, your EasyClean oven can notify your QuadWash dishwasher about the kind of meal you cooked, so it can more efficiently select a wash cycle for that dish. Of course, all this requires spending thousands of dollars replacing every appliance in your kitchen (and if this all works as well as LG claims it does), but it’s still an intriguing vision of a Jetsons-like future utopia.
No price or release date for the InstaView ThinQ refrigerator or any of LG’s other new appliances have yet been announced.

New Counter-Depth French-Door Fridge Boasts Mirror InstaView Panel,
Large Capacity and Four Types of Ice

SEOUL, Dec. 15, 2022 — LG Electronics (LG) is set to unveil the new LG InstaView French-Door refrigerator at CES 2023. Helping users create a more stylish kitchen that sits flush with the cabinetry and enjoy an upgraded culinary life, the new counter-depth model offers large capacity and a simple yet elegant built-in design featuring a mirror InstaView panel and unobtrusive pocket handles. It also provides four different types of ice and keeps food fresh for longer with LG’s advanced freshness technologies.
The company’s new, 25.5-cubic feet counter-depth refrigerator offers a generous capacity, despite a nine percent reduction in depth compared to a conventional French-Door model.1 To increase internal storage space, LG redesigned several of the fridge’s core components – slimming-down the cold air duct and the evaporator, while also reducing thickness by applying enhanced insulation. Although its expansive interior provides 25 percent more room for storing food and drinks than LG’s previous counter-depth models,2 the new French-Door can still help to save space in the kitchen thanks to its smaller footprint.
The new model also brings a simple yet sophisticated aesthetic to the kitchen courtesy of LG’s unique mirror-InstaView panel and flat door design. Bordered in sleek stainless steel, the mirror-coated glass of the seamless InstaView panel covers almost the entire right-hand door of the refrigerator. Just by knocking twice on the panel, users can check inside without having to open the door – a time-saving convenience that prevents cold air from escaping and energy from being wasted. The subtle, minimalist beauty and clean, modern lines of LG’s latest InstaView are further enhanced by the discrete pocket handles applied to the fridge’s ‘flat’ doors.
Additionally, the new French-Door refrigerator can create four different types of ice: cubed ice, crushed ice, LG’s exclusive, slow-melting round Craft Ice and the new mini cubed ice. Helping to keep drinks refreshingly cool, LG’s mini cubed ice makes a great addition to juices, sodas or cocktails. With four frozen choices at their disposal, users can select whichever style of ice best suits their need, their drink or the occasion.
Featuring LG’s cutting-edge technologies, the new fridge seals in the freshness of ingredients for longer and helps maintain the hygiene of the built-in water dispenser. The company’s exclusive LinearCooling technology reduces temperature fluctuations, enabling the fridge to preserve food at peak freshness for up to seven days.3 Meanwhile, DoorCooling+ works faster than a conventional cooling system4 to help keep food fresher – and beverages colder – on every shelf. On top of that, LG’s UVnano tech maintains the cleanliness of the fridge’s water dispenser, reducing the presence of bacteria on the dispenser’s nozzle by 99.99 percent.5
“LG’s new InstaView French-Door refrigerator makes a superb, stylish addition to any modern kitchen, offering consumers the ultimate in convenience, design and food freshness,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “We will continue to deliver outstanding customer value and experiences with innovative home solutions leveraging elegant, functional design and our advanced technologies.”
LG will be showcasing its latest home appliances, including the new InstaView French-Door refrigerator, at its exhibition booth (#15501, Las Vegas Convention Center) at CES 2023 in Las Vegas from January 5-8.

      1 LG standard-depth model LFXS26596S.
2 Based on an internal study utilizing average cans to quantify available storage space, conducted in March 2022, comparing LG models LRFVC2406S and LRFOC2606S.
3 LinearCooling sends cool air throughout the refrigerator compartment more frequently than a conventional cooling system, helping maintain a smaller temperature fluctuation range of ±0.5 degrees Celsius. Based on TÜV Rheinland test results using LG’s internal test method, measuring the time it took to achieve a 5 percent weight loss rate for pak choi on the shelf in the fresh produce compartment of the LG LinearCooling model GSXV91NSAE. Results may vary depending on the actual usage environment.
4 Tested by TÜV Rheinland using LG’s internal testing method, comparing the time of the temperature of the water container placed in the top basket to drop between DoorCooling+ and non-DoorCooling+ models.
5 Tested by TÜV Rheinland using LG’s internal testing method, measuring the reduction of a bacteria solution (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) in distilled water samples after exposure to the product’s UV LED for 10 minutes each hour, after a total of 24 hours in normal household use. Results may vary depending on the actual usage environment.

      Featuring Unique, Color-Changing Door Panels,
the Innovative ‘MoodUP’ Fridge Revolutionizes the User Experience

BERLIN, Sep. 1, 2022 — LG Electronics (LG) is set to unveil its groundbreaking MoodUP refrigerator with color-changing LED door panels at IFA 2022. Following up the recent launch of LG’s ‘always-evolving’ upgradable appliances, and the introduction of the ultra-elegant LG Objet Collection, the new fridge serves as yet another example of the company’s ability to respond to – and create – new trends in the home appliance space. The unique MoodUP, equipped with LG’s advanced refrigeration and smart technologies for better food freshness and enhanced convenience, also delivers a completely new kitchen experience, allowing users to choose a wide range of vibrant colors to its LED doors and play music via its built-in speaker as per their personal tastes and moods.
With its innovative LED door panels, LG’s MoodUP refrigerator presents unrivaled interior design flexibility and a new way to create a stylish, integrated kitchen. Through the LG ThinQ app, users can choose from 22 colors for the upper door panel and 19 colors for the lower, giving them the ability to change the look of the fridge and their kitchen environment. Users can also customize the panels’ appearance and refresh the mood by applying various, evocative color themes including Season, Place, Mood and Pop. Using the tones and hues of nature, Season represents different times of year, while Mood elicits a feeling of wellbeing through the use of soft, soothing colors.
In addition to its stunning, changeable colors, LG’s new refrigerator provides excellent sound via a built-in Bluetooth speaker that can be easily connected to a smartphone, tablet or laptop. Users can match their mood – or the fridge’s current color or theme – with songs from their favorite music streaming apps, or from the Music Collection playlist on the ThinQ app. What’s more, when the speaker is playing audio, the MoodUP’s LED panels can change colors in sync with the music, adding a sense of liveliness and fun to users’ time in the kitchen.
LG’s revolutionary, new fridge also boasts user-friendly features, such as convenient and colorful notifications. When the refrigerator’s door sensor detects that the fridge compartment has been left open for too long, the panel on the door left open blinks repeatedly; letting users know that the door needs closing and helping to prevent cold air loss and unnecessary energy consumption. And when the MoodUP’s motion sensors detect that someone is approaching, both panels blink in welcome. The fridge even makes things easier at night time, its freezer door glowing brighter to help midnight snackers find and open the door.
With its LED door panels switched off, the MoodUP refrigerator offers a combination of Lux Gray and Lux White for a more traditional look in the kitchen. The chic, timeless finish harmonizes with any décor and evokes the natural, subtle contrast of different colored stones.
LG’s game-changing, new fridge also applies the company’s own On-Device AI chip for smart home appliances. Integrating advanced AI, the module enables the MoodUP to improve and extend the user experience with features such as upgraded voice recognition and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
“We at LG have always found exciting, new ways to move the customer experience forward and we are proud to do it again with the brand-new MoodUP refrigerator,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “Bringing color, music and convenience to the kitchen, and incorporating LG’s cutting-edge technologies and innovative design features, this unique refrigerator demonstrates our continuing commitment to delivering a better life at home.”
Visitors to IFA 2022 (September 2-6) can experience all of LG’s latest innovations, including the MoodUP refrigerator, at the company’s booth in Hall 18, Messe Berlin.
