App Giveaway: 50 copies of Orthodoxy HD

In 1908, G.K. Chesterson published the book Orthodoxy, a study of his own personal journey of how he came to believe in the Christian faith. The book isn't an endorsement of Christianity, but a look at how the human psyche seeks to find an answer for what it cannot explain and how faith such as religion can provide the "answer to a riddle." This TouchPad-based copy of

Way back in December of 2010 we were promised that
link hidden, please login to view would come to the webOS Messaging app via Synergy in webOS 2.0. If you pick up your webOS 2.x device and fire up Messaging, you'll probably notice the distinct lack of Facebook in there. That's assuming you haven't gone all rogue and rouge . But there is also a dedicated app to make it happen, from webOS developer pcworldSoftware (not related to the magazine and website) comes , an Enyo-based app for phones and tablets running webOS 2.1 or higher, that's dedicated to your Facebook instant messaging needs. Normally QuickChat would cost you $2.99 from the App Catalog, but it just so happens that we have 50 copies to give away to you, loyal reader. Contest: We have 50 copies of QuickChat for Facebook to give away. Just leave a comment on this post to enter. Contest ends next Sunday at midnight US Eastern Time, after which time we will select 50 random entrants to win. Please only leave one comment, multiple entries won’t count. Just about all of the board games and basic computer games have made the full leap to the smartphone and tablet space. But in that translation some of those games just turned out to not be so exciting. What's a game developer to do? Combine them! That's what BdR Games did with their app
link hidden, please login to view, a combination of the classic parking lot shuffle game and the old school arcade snake game. The goal is relatively simple: move the yellow snakes around the level to create a clear path for the green snake, but as you go there are complications - like snake-extending apples, moveable blocks, and canal-style locks. All-in, the one hundred puzzles of Snake Slider cost $0.99 for webOS smartphones and tablets (that's less than a penny a level!), but if you comment below, you might just get one of a hundred copies for free! Contest: We have 100 copies of Snake Slider to give away. Just leave a comment on this post to enter. Contest ends next Sunday at midnight US Eastern Time, after which time we will select 100 random entrants to win. Please only leave one comment, multiple entries won’t count. Have you ever needed to know how many threads per inch there are on a #0 screw and how big of a drill bit you should use to create a hole in a sheet of aluminum into which to screw that screw? (the answers are 80 and 3/64, obviously). That sort of information comes from years of experience, or cumbersome reference sheets that you've spilled coffee on more than a few too many times. How about a digital form on your TouchPad? Yeah, we can do that, just look at
link hidden, please login to view, which will tell you everything you need to know about screws, pipe fittings, sheet metal, drill bits, and everything else for use in the machine shop. This app is $1.99 in the App Catalog, but if you're game enough to leave a comment after the break, one of 50 copies could be yours for free. Contest: We have 50 copies of Mechanical Reference Charts to give away. Just leave a comment on this post to enter. Contest ends next Sunday at midnight US Eastern Time, after which time we will select 50 random entrants to win. Please only leave one comment, multiple entries won’t count. Promo codes are only valid in countries serviced by the App Catalog, and users must be running webOS 3.0.0 or higher with the latest version of the App Catalog.

If there's one thing we seem to have plenty of on webOS, it's task apps. Partly that's arisen from the complete lack of a Tasks app built-in to webOS 3.0 on the TouchPad, but it's also partly from the fact that we all have different ways of managing our tasks, and if a developer's into that (seems a lot of them are), why not make an app that works the way they do? So here's another option for your task management:
link hidden, please login to view. Based around the Get Things Done concept, TaskMasterHD allows for near complete list customizations, with categorization, task status, due dates and reminders, owners, costs, theming, and even built-in print support. Sound like your cup of tea? Good, because we've got 100 copies to give away! Contest: We have 100 copies of TaskMasterHD to give away. Just leave a comment on this post to enter. Ever find yourself watching a war movie and wondering just what those solider actors are saying when they're screaming "whiskey echo bravo oscar sierra!" into the radio? It's the phonetic alphabet, and it's meant to make communicating clear and garble-free when needed, plus it allows for some cool callsigns like Tango Seven. With
link hidden, please login to view you can take whatever you type into your TouchPad and translate it into the phonetic alphabet, and then have the app speak it out loud for you. Normally this app would run you close to four dollars, but this week you'll have a chance to win one of 50 copies! Contest: We have 50 copies of Soldier Talk Play Edition to give away.
